Survivor thought the siren from Climax wasn't shit and went straight for the amber alert Also, as someone who isn't really THAT into DDR, the rationale behing Evolution's song rating caught me off-guard a bit, since it's my favorite in the series by a long shot when judging the song on its own. I feel like DDR is a bit too self-referential for someone like me who's not "in" on the whole thing, so the whole reference thing isn't a downside at all for me, but I guess I can understand being let down by a song that was supposed to be The Big Thing for the song series and getting just a nifty remix.

This was a fun video to watch, it was cool getting a retrospective on Trip machines as they are one of my favorite series of songs in DDR. What surprised that best trip machine didn't go to jungle mix, as that's my favorite trip machine, but I figured just from a song standpoint it would have been the winner haha. Nice job Daniel!

Great review. I agree with most of your points aside from xac nanoglide's chart scored below PhoeniX lmao. While I would say "Do a review of MAX and FAXX songs next" since it's appropriate when you do the siblings already, I'd love to see you reviewing course-unlocked songs, its chart, and the song picks of said course in context of the course theme. A20PLUS and A3 has a bunch of them now (A3 alone has 10 I think, while A20PLUS has so many I don't know the exact number).

I was waiting for this >.> great video! Trip machine jungle mix #1 if you gave it's SMM chart a chance (maybe a video idea would be rating x-specials or other chart remakes?). It would be kinda nice if you glossed over some other charts when you review the songs like you did with trip machine phoenix esp, sometimes I ignore the main charts and just play a much better and/or easier chart...maybe you could do this for 14s or higher to avoid talking about irrelevant charts though? Every now and then I give charts a lot of credit for being somewhat interesting when they're extremely low difficulty and I see my friends I take out playing them, Vanquish the Ghost BSP is a banger for novices and Beach Side Bunny BSP and DSP are some really surprisingly well themed fun charts for lowers for example. I hate how charts like 8s are expected to all play the same and barely have character (because they usually do) but it's all the more interesting when it's undermined by ESPs and CSPs but it's still an outstanding chart for a lower.

Dang it, I love Trip Machine Luv Mix and Trip Machine Survivor for their songs. Luv Mix has such a groooovy bassline. And Survivor is just insane, which I love..because I'm insane. I don't know. The screech at the beginning of Trip Machine Survivor is just iconic to me.

How about going back to popular Extreme-Supernova songs? You know the ones, the ones that kept playing on repeat at the arcade and always had thrrads up about them on the forums. Daikenkai, Love Shine, Xepher, Polybitzian dances and choruses, DoLL... all stuff that had people back in the day go "omg what anime is this?!" You really gotta be a ddr boomer to remember the details though.

This might be a stretch, but I personally love analyzing songs with particularly interesting or complex rhythms and think of what it would be like as a DDR chart. Maybe you could do a series like that? You could pull from videogame music, pop, or other mediums.

Something I think would be interesting to explore would be one of the boss song collections (i.e. Groove Radar Special, Replicant D-Action/Ignition). It would be interesting to see if these collections possess any overarching themes, explore each song individually, stuff like that.

The original Trip Machine's chart is AA tier. Once you learn the spins, it's a whole new experience. It's a similar story for Luv Mix, though the spins on that one feel less intentional. This seems to be a pattern with 2MB's remixes of arcade songs... they're legendary for their difficulty, but don't flow well. Since they were made for home versions, my theory is that they were charted by a different team. Maybe 2MB himself? Actually, that would be a good themed video: Rating all the 2MB remixes. PARANOiA KCET ～clean mix～ TRIP MACHINE～luv mix～ La Señorita Virtual ORION.78～civilization mix～ Healing Vision ～Angelic mix～ MAX.(period) Fascination ～eternal love mix～ Pluto Relinquish The last two might not count because they debuted in the arcade before the home version... though Fascination ~eternal love mix~ was added as part of a syncing patch and may have just been an early gift to the players.
