I remember watching the game on that last drive knowing Donald was going to make a special play and then seeing the clip of McVay after saying that. Everyone knew it was on him to win the game. Pointing at his finger was one of the coldest moments in SB history

The main reason, as Chris Long said in his podcast, is that NO one wants to WORK hard enough to be the next Aaron Donald. Most DT's are chubby, getting by on DNA skills, getting involved in off the field concerns and they really don't STRIVE for excellence. If Warren Sapp had WORKED hard, he'd have been that good but he coasted and his skills dropped off a cliff. Cooper Kupp said he once worked out with Donald and that Aaron did the entire workout on JUST his arms. Donald wasn't gifted with the SIZE but his work ethic made him the best to ever do it at that position.

nah man, God gave him gifts that everybody else simply didn't have. It was combining those gifts with his legendary work ethic that made him who he is. Regardless of how hard they might work, no random DT will ever be able to approach Donald's level.

@@harrisontull8377 What gets overlooked is the fact that he has an amazing father who pumped him FULL of confidence and helped focus him. Donald gave a LOT of credit to that.

@@TheCountofToulouse yeah you see that with a lot of the best athletes in the world. The things that having a father figure who pushes you like that can do for you are immense.

@@harrisontull8377 His team mate, another guy with not a lot of physical 'gifts' who went on to be a triple crown winner, Cooper Kupp, another hard worker whose father pushed him to be better than he should have been.

Sapp was the best interior linemen of all time hell in my opinion he plays the run way better than AD. AD got by athleticism in the run game. He’s a better pass rusher but by no means he’s he head and shoulders better than sapp

Steeler and TJ Watt fans on unalive watch after hearing sacks aren’t a true indicator to how good a defensive lineman is.

In terms of true defensive linemen, guys who can win and dominate from anywhere on the line of scrimmage, only Reggie White was better.

Most clips you show, have Donald lined up outside the guard, almost straight up on the tackle...Inside rusher my ass

Alan Page played with plumbers and carpenters. Aaron played with freakishly strong 350 lb + O Lineman double to triple teaming him on every snap and still got through

Naw. He was a goat but AD was way more powerful and better technical. Alan Paige game wouldn’t translate well with today’s league. He left his gap way to much

@@mrpotential11Go back to the NBA with that level of discourse. Donald is better, but get the “plumbers and firemen” nonsense out of here. JJ Redick didn’t know the demon he would unleash when he said that.

@@antoniotrivelloni8191 "plumbers" is a bad way to put it but Alan Page did line up against WAY smaller offensive linemen than Aaron Donald. In the 60's and 70's tackles and guards were like 250-270lbs. Imagine a 250lb lineman trying to block Aaron Donald.

Not his entire 8-year career. Elgton Jenkins absolutely dominated him in the 2020 playoffs, limiting him to a single assisted tackle. Not even a single QB hit. It was awesome to watch, after all the hype about how great Aaron Donald was supposed to be, and Elgton Jenkins was a relative no-name at the time.
