Black Ops Cold War is releasing worldwide tonight. But before we can jump into the Easter egg hunt tomorrow, I owe you all an explanation addressing a story that's circulating surrounding me. A few weeks ago I uploaded a KZbin video explaining the black ops storyline, when researching for this video I came across a smaller youtuber called suggestive gaming, who created a very similar storyline idea and I thought it was brilliant, he explained the games really well and I really enjoyed his video style. The relevance of this is I used his script and very similar visuals in my video when explaining call of duty world at war, Black Ops 1, and Black Ops 3. These explanations were copied word for word from his video and whilst I did credit him in the description, this is nowhere near enough to justify the blanton plagiarism since I was not given permission to use his script or to use his visual style. There is no excuse for this behavior and I'm deeply regretting ever considering what I did, with the platform that I have I should be setting an example for smaller creators to follow and this is not the example to set whatsoever. I've already apologized to him privately and publicly on Twitter but I know it is not enough without addressing it on the platform that the issue first began from, my apology did not explain what I did nor address what I'm going to do to rectify it. I want to say to suggestive gaming and to everyone watching who feels let down by my actions, I'm truly sorry. Knowing I've disappointed so many of you brings me a great deal of regret. Furthermore I want to extend this apology to anyone who feels I've over stepped the mark and used their content in a plagiaristic manner or without permission over the years, this has truly served as a moment for reconsideration, over the last 24 hours I've been reflecting on what has happened and I really want to try rectifying my wrong doings and going forward on improving so that this never happens again. I offered to give suggestive gaming all the ad revenue that the video made, but he declined. As a starting point to try and apologize for everyone that's been affected, I'm going to donate the entire videos ad revenue which is roughly around 400 dollars to a charity called special affect. Furthermore I'm donating a further 600 dollars to special affect. On behalf of all the content creators in the past who I've upset by posting videos that could be considered plagiarizing their ideas. Going forward I promise to do better I've severely let you all and myself down and I do not blame you if you do not want to support my content anymore. I've been as open and honest about the situation as possible to you all and opening up about it on KZbin rather then explaining it on social media, and I can only hope that you can accept my apology in time. If you do want to go and check suggestive gaming's original video, I've got it linked in this videos description. Everyone makes mistakes, and we are all human at the end of the day. Thank you for watching.

This game had the one thing that all modern COD games (the last 4 specifically) don't have. Community and social activities. Like you said it was a fun game to play regardless if no new content was out yet. That's because a game like this gave the community the tools to do things on our own. The paintjob, emblem editor, theater mode, PC mods for zombies overall, free run mode as a fun aspect to the movement of the game, etc etc etc. This gave players something to work for when not playing the game or needing to release stress off a rough day of playing. At this same time, this game still followed the same formulas of old that made COD games fun even if something like the movement was completely changed. The perk system wasn't changed, spectator view, weapon balancing was good, maps were fun as hell. What more can I say?

I remember this game differently than a lot of people it seems. I first started COD in 2004 and played every one of them since. This game was bashed by a lot of people when it came out, especially for continuing the wall runs. I cannot speak for zombies since I quit playing since BO2. However, I remember when BO4 was announced live in front of an audience that roared in cheers when they announced no wall runs. I am aware AW came out before and maybe people were tired of it, but it seemed a lot of people wanted COD to return to it's roots. I also think this game was a first COD for a lot of people and maybe that had something to do with it. Anyways, people are entitled to like whatever game they want and I am glad for anyone who does. I will praise them for trying something different and this game is definitely unique.
@Parker-- Жыл бұрын
AW didn't have wall running. It did have advanced movement. Opinion before BO3's release was split on another futuristic advanced movement game. Everyone who played BO3 no longer had issue because it was, and still is, the most balanced COD multiplayer to date. It had the most DLC sales of any game for 2015, 16 and 17 as well. You can't do that without being overwhelmingly dedicated and large playerbase. I've been playing COD since 05 or 06, COD2, and playing video games and shooters a hell of a lot longer than that. BO3 earned it's reputation and fandom on the merits of gameplay alone. To this day it's still the best, most balanced and fair COD in tons of aspects. No game in the series has had less camping, due in part because of the maps and the advanced movement, snipers didn't have aim assist, the most balanced perks, the best perk system (Pick 10), balanced weapon attachments, variety in meta, balanced variety of guns, no one hit kill melee, and no SBMM BS to ruin the games. If it wasn't for a couple specialist abilities it's damn near perfect gameplay at what it does. People were excited for AW at first because it broke up the monotony of BOTG. They should have never made 3 advanced movement games in a row. That's what actually killed it; they traded one monotonous design for another. AW should have swapped with Ghosts and WW2 should have been after BO3, and IW should have been doing whatever Treyarch was not going to do after BO3, because BO4 sounded like it was originally going to have jetpacks as well. Now we're stuck playing Modern Camper for now til eternity and now the only thing people play is the not-a-battle-royale mode.

As far as the story is concerned, I think the big thing is that the real issue the entire time was DNI. "Corvus" isnt actually an AI boogeyman at all, but the oversight that the technology was meant to achieve personified. The player dying on the table happened because during the DNI integration process that was supposed to attach to your brain, it attached your brain to Taylors DNI. The enitre campaign is the player living through a loose recollection of Taylors memories, but disjointed and messed up because its being played back through your brain like actual memories. Taylors entire team was never met by the player, besides Hendricks and Taylor himself, they have fill-ins instead. Even Kane, whos name was only mentioned. Missions are played out of order, you experince frequent hallucinations. The final mission that you play in the game is the way it is, because your brain is experiencing a complete and utter breakdown of all of its faculties, right before you hit that final moment of sudden clarity, much like dementia patients get shortly before death. The DNI purge at the end of the game is real, because its Taylor and the doctors fnally realizing whats happening, and as a last ditch effort to save you and Taylor, Taylors DNI is purged. Its difficult to gather if the DNI purge causes you to realize whats happened, or completely become Taylor. Either way, once that purge hits 100%, the game ends, and you die.

@@zaer-ezart Thats a bit tricky. The game doesnt do a very good job of explaining this, but what seems to be going on is the rooftop mission in the Campaign where "Taylor" dies to "Hendricks" is the very last mission of Taylors memories chronologically, as thats when the final member of the real Taylors team was killed by the real Hendricks. Both Hendricks and Taylor are the only survivors of the original team, which is why theyre both alive during the first mission, the mission you as the player actually meet them. Everything that happens after that chronologically deviates from Taylors memories. While its never made really clear, there are two prevailing theories. One is that there never was an attack on Zurich afterwards, which means that the death of Hendricks and Kane likely doesnt happen at all, and everything that happens in the Zurich Mission is completely simulated before the DNI purge that erases you at the end of the game. Two, is that Zurich does happen directly after the first mission, and that while youve been going through the memories of Taylors missions, youve been puppeting his body around from inside his DNI. This would mean Hendricks and Kanes deaths do happen, and that you esentially kill yourself with the DNI purge, returning Taylors body to his control at the end of the game.
@mauriziochirca89398 ай бұрын
I see the BO3 story as the superposition of two timelines. The first is the Manhunt of Dylan Stone and the rogue team PHI, and the other is the DNI infection. While the DNI infection plot it’s related to both timelines, the missions on this timeline were the first two and the last one. All the plot of the Manhunt of Dylan Stone it's quite literal what you see while playing those missions but the motives were different. They didn’t go rogue because a DNI infection, it’s because they saw the illegal experiments of Coalescence Corporation that they wanted to let the people know the truth. They were called to Black Station because the CIA wanted to kill them in order to keep their secrets buried but Stone and the others discovered the plan and kill their executioners. Now, Hendricks and Taylor were on a mission to stop them. Hendricks is irritated as the plot develops not because the infection. It’s because he wasn’t feeling right about killing their former friends, so he was stressed as fuck (I think Hendricks is more human when you see it like this). While playing the missions Demon Within and the mission of the refinery, Hall and Kane refer to you as Taylor, foreshadowing the ending. This doesn’t seem that clear because the player answers on both occasions that he will stop Taylor. One year later, starts the DNI infection plot. As you know, you got killed in the second mission after your injuries on the first mission. The agony of the players created Corvus and infected you and the new Taylor team while they were in your DNI. Corvus will create a simulation to get the answers about the reasons of the Coalescence Projects. During the simulation, the consciousness of the player merged with Taylor and the player believe Hall, Diaz and the others were the bad guys. Every time the story changes the location to Singapur, Cairo and Zurich, the player gets disoriented. That it’s seen when Hendricks says to us: Are you still with us? or the first time you enter the safehouse when the player says: Where are we again? After, killing all of Taylor’s team (because yes, Hall, Diaz and Maretti actually die because they were considered hostile by the player), Hendricks wants to get revenge on Coalescence because it was their fault that they were tasked to kill Stone and the others and now, another time, caused a DNI infection that made Taylor become crazy (controlled by the player to kill Diaz and the others). This is the final mission where you have to stop Hendricks. This mission wasn’t a simulation. You are playing as Taylor but the player's consciousness takes control over his DNI. That it’s seen in the very first cutscene makes you seem like you are disoriented. That’s why Kane said to you if you are still with her. Coming from the simulation, the player thinks he has to kill Hendricks because of the infection, but as I said, it was not because of that. If you think of it, it's kinda similar to the Reznov hallucination that Mason had. Once you killed Hendricks, Corvus will put you in another simulation to prevent you from killing for real because he needed you in order to get answers. The whole simulation it’s about clearing the infection. At the end you erase your consciousness from Taylor’s DNI and that's why he says Taylor at the end, because as I said, you were playing as him during the whole mission except from the simulation where Taylor was a bug caused by the merging of two consciousness in one DNI. I didn’t see anyone explaining the story like this but I think that this is what makes more sense. I didn’t comment on all the details due to the length of this. To conclude. Try replaying it, while reading the data vault (which explains you more connections with the BO2 universe) where you can read about the factions, the explanation of the NRC - Cairo war motives and much more to get the full context of the setting. Try to do research on the intro logs. Then, once players understand the story as it meant to be played, make a good appreciation of the campaign before saying it’s trash because it was bad written when it was designed to do research by a whole community (that is even related to the fact that they made this campaign coop in order to make all players put the pieces together) For those who wanted them to continue Mason’s family, BO3 actually did it. If you enter in “Project Prometheus” and then in “Candidates” in the data vault, you will find the name of the four players. One of them is C.Mason. The individual letter it’s because you can customize your gender so it would make any sense to give a real name at all. How do I know it? Well, it’s because of the individual letter of the name, because there are four, and because it says two of them died and the other two were not considered to join the project because of their injuries (first mission). Also I don’t think Treyarch just put a Mason character for nothing. If they didn’t give you an actual name it’s because they focussed on questioning the future of humanity. It wasn’t about a soldier or war, it was about life supremacy over all the technology (fuck the last mission is called life). Of course, the coop had to do with this concept of not giving names. Also if you put the first letter of each protocols of the intro log (which can be seen without doing nothing) and put them in the order of the events, you get “We are Taylor” the same way you get “Reznov is dead” by doing the same thing in the BO1 campaign. As I see it, the story was very good, but Treyarch forgot they are making a Call of Duty and the players would not do what they were trying. So yes, it’s underrated and overhated as fuck. Even playing it without understanding the full context, at least you understand what is happening in every mission. The problem was that the last one requires you to put things in place but still that point the campaign is very understandable, at least for me anyways. The characters were kinda human. Stone team questioned their past actions once they discovered a project that caused the death of hundreds of thousand and try to reveal the truth, Hendricks questioning his mission because they were his friends, and the romance between Kane and Taylor it’s not the typical US vs Soviets (or russian) that COD usually does. Also if you think about, Taylor is a tragical character. He losts his two teams (Stone one, and Diaz one), his best friend Hendricks and the love of his life Kane. In what other COD campaign you feel like this?

I have the fondest memories from Black Ops 3. Grinding for dark matter, hero skins, zombies was amazing, and multiplayer was addictingly fun. All the maps were great, the movement was so fluid (if that makes sense), specialists was so unique at the time, and all the weapons were useful. My homies and I were in 8th grade going into freshman year, we started a cod clan and made youtube videos. We’re all graduated highschool and 21 now and we still talk about those days.

It's bittersweet remembering how excited everyone used to be for a COD release compared to today. The day/night of a COD release used to be a holiday. The release events were parties and everyone wanted in on the fun. The physical Collector's Editions need a comeback. An updated Juggernog Fridge would be awesome!
