Thinking about it now, it's insane how even in death Oryx still is quite the threat for bringing the Taken to Earth in The Taken King, and how many who followed him or were tied to him are now trying to carry on his work. But it shows to me he's one of the best villains Destiny has had, even if he's been dead since the end of the King's Fall raid in canon. And all of this because of Crota's death.

The Taken twitching, splitting, grunting, the Echo of Oryx dissipating, Oryx breathing in sharply as the same sound of his Echo plays, his proverbial 'spirit' re-enters him, Ecthar's sword hitting the chitin of the ship, and both of their voices as they converse.

Someone who tested it in the pre-alpha stages posted the original story and Bungie had it taken down for copyright infringement. In interviews, the developers neither confirm or deny it. In the opening cinematic, you can see explorers on Mars discovering it in three separate timelines. The Stranger is with a resistance, that I think includes The Awoken and Eris, that's trying to bring it down. Hence why she says "A side must always be chosen, even if it's the wrong one," and why she intentionally pisses off the Ghost.

@@thewok4131 I loved Cayde in D1 but in D2 they made his character feel like too much of a Joker and like it was forced onto the player to hear him be happy all the time or joking around. In D1 he was more like a best friend looking out for u in strikes and in The Taken King when he got us to the dreadnaught. So in Forsaken when he died I was sad cause the moments I had in D1 with him but cause his character was such a clown in D2 I didn't care as much. The most emotional part for forsaken for me was when Uldran was doubting his every action towards the end of the campaign. He said stuff like "No, this is wrong, somethings not right." in a paniced voice and it made me feel bad for him because he was taken. I didn't want his character to die. Its a bit annoying that the techuns were given a chance after being taken but uldran wasn't. Also in Rise of Iron, Ill never forget the moment our ghost sat down with us outside the cosmodrome wall on the ketch looking out at all the vehicles saying how happy he is that he found us and resurrected us. Such a cool unexpected moment part of a weapon quest, a weapon quest! Man how can a weapon quest manage to be more emotionally investing than a D2 campaign so far. Sorry, I just miss our interactions with the ghost.

chrome289 Yes, I heard the writer of the story left Bungie and they had to rebuild everything from scrath. This is just a small taste of what Destiny should've been and what Destiny II will be. If the rumors about the subtitle Shattered Suns + No DLC are true ,i'll give it a shot.

+Maxialstar Okami Aoi It was actually reveled what happened to the original release of the game. Music and sound tracks, it had to do with the music and sound tracks. Bungie hired a person to do the sound track, Activation hired another person. By the time the shit hit the fan with Bungies recording artist. It was too late to go back and re-do everything so they where forced to cobble together a "story" around a patch work sound track from a second rate composer. The court case came to a satisfactory close in March of this year. Allowing them to use tracks from both composers and use assets intended for the original release of the game. Apparently it was a huge mess that cost Activision like 4 million bucks. It's crazy that the sound track caused such a shit storm. But, I guess it's as important to telling a story as anything.

Low-key though, it IS kinda funny to think about Oryx's loss. This guy literally faced several civilizations who fought him with everything they got and he prevailed. Then, he went to sol... 6 guardians raided his home. And dude died. Granted, Guardians are paracausal like him, but let's not forget that during that time, the Guardians are probably not as powerful as they are now. In other words, we defeated the Hive's God King, before we even underwent some proper training arc.

@ 6:23 My favorite moment in the expansion. Seeing the Antagonist, Oryx, talk to his knight Ecthar and speak English at that was badass and sorta shocking. Prior to this, only Crota spoke any hint of English. It's neat when our enemy actually has a face and voice, as opposed to just being forced to kill everything that doesn't look human. ( Yes, Variks spoke english too, but we wereing fighting him)

Its amazing, coming back to this in 2022, knowing what we know now, how big this battle was. But also, the massive plan set in motion that would carry into D2. A multi game background story. Incredible.
