I think the main difference is his hair is in a ponytail and the stubble, if his hair was down it'd definitely look a lot more like "thorfinn". Also, he's starting to resemble OG pops, for example, pause at 9:19, colour thorfinns hair black and and that's basically young-faced thors

He looks exactly like his dad, just blonde. I think the author gave him the same colored eyes on purpose. His sister has their mother's eyes.

@remmy Ehh, I don't think the damage he endured really affected his face, perhaps it had more of an effect on his size due to growing up on the battlefield with malnutrition/stress (Thorfinn is around 5'2 in the Manga even at 19), not sure if they increased his size for the anime (I don't read the manga btw, just know this detail). His face however just looks like its different due to aging, IMO. Purposefully done to make him look more similar to Thors.

Nah bro let’s keep it real. It’s a drawing you can’t see the anger through drawing bro. It’s his nose they changed his nose. Idk why these changed it so much he was already 19 at the beginning of the season now he’s like 22 so it doesn’t make sense that his nose changed that much when he was already fully grown

@@winterrobot1942 disagree. because he's a drawing, showing different emotions through the eyes alone is pretty easy. i read the manga, so i know that yukimura changes the eyes based on characters emotions. there's a scene of young thors for example, when he drew him with those young thorfinn eyes, showing that warrior in him. that's a big contrast to the older thors, who is a kinder person that doesn't kill

@@leandrodiaz5433 Yeah I agree. You absolutely convey emotions through eyes when it comes to drawings. I take back what I said in my first comment. But what I was trying to highlight is that Thorfinn looks completely different because his facial bone structure is drawn completely different, he’s drawn to look older. He has a heavily pronounced nose bridge all of a sudden and a brow ridge . So I don’t know why people are only crediting him looking different to his change in character when obviously he looks different to the way he was drawn one episode prior. He could have been drawn exactly the same way we saw him in episode 2 just take his frown away, raise his eyebrows and draw him with a neutral expression instead of a sad one and it would have had the same effect.

@@winterrobot1942 i agree that his facial bone estracture is rougher, like more 'manly'. however, i really don't think that that's why people says he looks really different. again, i do think that the hair and eyes are the primary reasons. if you drew prologue thorfinn but with his current nose and jaw, people wouldn't probably react to it, or they would think he looks a little off and that's it. that's my take anyway, i do see your point

True they weren't, it's just that they have no land so they work and live on Keitil's and pay tributes if I'm not mistaken, like the father of those kids in future episodes that has debt with Ketil while his family lives in his land.

Just a heads up since the show isn't keeping you updated on the progression of time like the manga, it has been about five months total spent on the farm. From Einar's arrival in June of 1015 to the end of this ep taking place in October of 1015. Also, Canute becomes the King of England in 1018 and Harald is the King of Denmark (1015), which is where Ketil's farm is located. Hence why he's referred to as King.

@@Mukatutu In fairness, Canute's ep does start in the current year (1015) and only goes to 1018 in the final few mins to show his coronation. But yeah, one of my only nitpicks this season is them not showing the month/year with the passage of time like the manga does. They did so constantly in S1, so I don't know why they aren't this season.

@@yuno1380 Yeah, Canute's ep didn't really have much issues showing the timeline, it's the fact that they jumped back in time when going back to Thorfinn and Einar without any indication. Plus they brought them back with stubble and thorfinn's hair in a ponytail, which made it looked like he aged a few years when apparently it had only been a few months. So I think some people (including myself before reading the comment above) will automatically assume that they jumped 3 years in parallel to Canute's timejump.

Probably my favorite episode, just because of the 2nd half. Snake and the old man might as well have been related, I think they have fealty for each other as "warriors". The old man was clearly a warrior based on the sword and spear on his wall, Snake likely respects him as a veteran, which is why he also showed respect to Thorfinn before.

The episodes with less conflict are my favorites. It's so nice to see Thorfinn and Einar happy. To see Thorfinn grow in a positive way is so nice.

Lmao, I wouldn’t say the grandpa is woke. The Grandpa was talking about the cycle of having too much wealth and how it makes you never satisfied bc you’re scared of losing it, so you try to amass more wealth to compensate and the cycle continues. He didn’t say wealth was inherently a bad thing or that he should share it.

The term "woke" wasn't inherently a negative thing when it first started being used. It's a more modern way of basically saying someone/something is "aware", like being woken up from being ignorant or hypnotized by whatever people deemed was controlling them like government/companies, etc. I think them saying the grandpa is woke was used in that way, as in, he's ahead of the curve and is very aware of how things work, not as the negative thing people see woke as today. Edit: I tried looking for when they called him woke and couldn't find it , so I could be totally wrong if they called him work with the negative conotation

Yeah, even though we've been on this farm for a minute. We're getting some nice character development for Thornfinn, so I'll say it's worth it.

I gotta give it to Vinland, they're doing a pretty good job making a farmland saga arc feel awesome to watch and so far it seems like a lot of people are open to it. Theres a vocal minority who expectedly don't like the change of pace but who cares. The main thing that makes it so good is that we've watched Thorfinn suffer for a long time so its nice to see him get some peace and development, besides thorfinn, we have Einar, with a tragic backstory but his personality is like the sun, he just brings the mood up and makes it entertaining to watch. People were giving warnings before season 2 came out about how many would dislike it but i think surprisingly thats not the case, a lot of people like it!
