To answer the question: It is a bit censored here but not much later it gets basically uncensored, reason being at the time of airing in Japan it was at first during the day and later during the night when kids were asleep so it was okay to be uncensored.

Hisoka isn't a legit examiner, but he said he was going to test the guys attacking him, with his own arbitrary criteria. They failed but Gon, Leorio and Kurapika "passed", meaning he lets them live.

Morgan's enthusiasm is great, I never thought she would be in to this anime back in teh day(start of Demon Slayer lol) but it's awesome to see how she's embraced all the different styles and era's of anime. None of the below are really SPOILERS(but for anyone reading this) as you've seen already what Im about to say and I know ya'll are ahead quite a bit on Patreon and have even more examples of Hisoka's sense of purpose, honor, "worthiness" as you're now past the exams: Parker, you hit the nail on the head once again brotha, this time with Hisoka's feelings of euphoria when it comes to "power" or even the potential of someone attaining a high level, such as Gon. Hints of a Goku power worshipper mixed with a chaotic/neutral in D&D if you know what that means. A lot of people just jump straight weirdo/callChrisHansen conclusions. I'm not going to say this is completely wrong, lol, but the basis of his almost orgasmic reactions to combat and finding people who are worthy is based on what you saw, people who he finds "worthy" aka powerful, either now or potential for it in the future. That group attacked him so he defended himself. The guy he took the arm from, bumped him without any acknowledgment or apology which shows how crazy this man can be when it comes a sense of manners or honor or whatever the scales are in his crazy head. The pedo stuff is up for debate, for to him, power has no age i guess.

I think the first few episodes are censored because of the timeslot it got on release, but by around episode 10 they got a later timeslot and can actually show the blood.

It's not censored as in edited after-the-fact like 4Kids dubs. There is no "uncensored" version out there. But it is censored in the sense that the manga and original anime were more bloody than this in the early arcs.

just my opinion, but I think 2011 is better for new viewers 1999 has a darker tone right off the bat, has some great added scenes for characterisation, and way more experimental cool looking shots. but 2011 moves along a lot quicker and that pace is better for newcomers imo
