The fact that this anime and its movie are probably the last ones be produced before the Kyoto Animation arson attack, most of the people take part in this anime have passed away but what they left behind for us is a masterpiece. The more I think about it the more I appreciate this anime.

Seeing how Violet lost her arms, how she was dealing and processing Gilbert’s death, and her attempting to choke herself. Made this a tough episode to seat through, my eyes started stinging. But thankfully, Violet has good friends and a support system. Seeing all the people she had a positive impact on was very lovely.

Love how poetic this show gets. When Gilbert said "the things u did will never be forgotten" for the bad stuff, then it cut to all the people she's impacted positively... mirroring that comment again.

I'm glad that you are enjoying this series. It's one of my favorites. The next few eps are real tear jerkers, so be ready for that! It's not explained well (or at all) in the anime, but there are some very particular reasons that Violet is a "weapon" and why Gilbert's brother hates her so much. This is explained in the light novel. The basic story is this: as is implied in the anime, Violet has some real superhuman physical characteristics, but no one knows why or where she is from. She has no memory of her past. She first encounters Gilbert's brother, Dietfried, when a ship he is on sinks and he and his crew are stranded on an island. For some reason, Violet is there. Some of his crew members try to assualt her and she kills them. She then spends the next few days relentlessly stalking and murdering all of the other crew members. As I recall, it is made worse by the fact that she never hides but simply stalks them out of reach. In the end, she and Dietfried are the only ones left alive. Then, for reasons that he never understands, she lets him live and takes orders from him. He brings her back and treats her like an animal, a kind of attack dog. She murders other people, like burglars. Gilbert finally happens upon her and Dietfried gives her to Gilbert to use as a weapon. In part, this is because Dietfried is still afraid of her (as you would be). The momentary flashback in the first ep, where the Colonel has an image of Violet surrounded by bodies, her hands dripping blood, is from a test where Gilbert has her fight and kill an entire roomful of death row inmates. This is a display she puts on for the top military brass. This is why she is treated as a murder/war machine.

Rough episode, but it was good seeing everyone come together for Violet. Loved the part where she was able to see how her work impacted others, and good to get a few seconds with all of them again.

15:26 I agree with this statement so much In regards with a school holiday homework..I once was asked to sent a letter to anyone..I sent it to my friend.. I didn't think much of it since we talk on a daily basis through texts and calls..But when she wrote one back to me..For some reason it made so happy..I mean..it's not like there was anything special or new in the letter..like we talk everyday anyways..But I wonder what's so special about letters that make you feel special about receiving it..

Because they take more effort and force the writer to actually think about what feelings they want to convey. Also, you open them, like literal presents.

I don’t think Violet will ever truly “get over or move on” from her feelings or bond with Gilbert. When people are that close and important to a person’s heart and they have profound impact, and then to lose them, especially in a dramatic way. That tends to stay with a person. Sometimes they’re whole life. But I do think Violet will continue to move forward and progress to becoming her on person.

Violet questioning her right to live and Hodgins’ feeling guilty for not doing more sooner is a great moment. I do wish Violet recognized how much he cared about her too, arguably as much as Gilbert.
