they are sort of right, Eren has seen the sea and other stuff via memories but it isn't confirmed in his mind and he's hoping none of it exists or else everything in his memories holds up. So when he finally see's the body of water and the structure it just confirms to him that although the "sea" was originally a symbol of hope and freedom from when they were children now its a sign of all the bad things that do exist and await them.

Girls, understand Floch character. Imagine you are a soldier and two persons are in risk of dying. One of them is literally an experienced soldier commander that has lead a lot of missions with success that previusly were always a failure, and the other is a very intelligent but literally has no experience and doubts himself. Of course you would be mad if they choose to save the young wan, specially since they are in a more delicate position now facing the truth that the island is hated by Marley en other nations from the world. Armin is great, but is completely understandable that he is concerned because the greates leader inside the walls is dead.

Eren did not want to be there and reach the sea because it further attest the memories he saw in Grisha. So everything he saw happened and will happen from then on. I love this episode because it's for me both* of an emotional wreck of the genuineness for our scouts finally reaching the ocean, and Eren losing his very innocence. Return to Shiganshina arc is such a 12/10. Off to another 10/10 arc ✌🏽

I never got why Floch gets hate here. He's completely right, recruits deserve to know what they are fighting for. He was fighting for his military, and what did the higher ups do? Break his trust and choose Armin to survive rather than Erwin. Of course Floch right now is very disillusioned. The obvious choice is the commander Erwin, but instead Armin was brought back, because of the emotions of those involved. Floch and the rest of the recruits followed Erwin and sacrificed their lives, was it for the good of humanity? Or Eren's best friend?

You make good points but Armin being brought back isn't a waste either. And I think what most people have a problem with is the way Floch was talking to them. His tone was as if Armin is a waste of space, which it isn't true. He has every right to be upset about Erwin and wanting Erwin to live isn't wrong. But choosing Armin to live isn't wrong either. It's just a complicated and hard choice. Also, while Eren and Mikasa were emotional in their decision. Levi's choice in Armin wasn't emotional. It was more about finally giving Erwin peace especially after Erwin had all those soldiers ride to their death.

Because we only focus on the main cast, it's hard to think of all the other soldiers as people, but that is what Floch is meant to represent - the people of Paradis. The recruits deserve to know what they were giving their lives for, and bringing Armin back is a direct betrayal of their trust. I agree that Floch was being an ass when he was talking to them, but it's because he's become disillusioned with the military and chain of command in the scouts. Levi's choice was definitely based on emotions. He wanted to let Erwin rest because he thought he has done enough. Of course I don't blame any of them for having emotions or making the decisions they did, but that doesn't make their decisions correct.

But I'm not disagreeing with you about choosing Erwin over Armin to live. Myself included was shouting at the screen to save Erwin at the time I was watching. Because he is a leader and the scouts need a leader like him. What I'm saying is that I don't think there was a clear right or wrong choice in that. And why I think people hate on Floch is because of the way he was talking to the other characters; not that Floch was entirely wrong.

Floch is one of the best supporting character in all Animes. But, most of us hate him because we're on the Eren side which means also on Armin's side. Floch is just great because he represents all of Scout members that died when vs. Beast Titan.

You may not like Floch, but he just saying the truth. We spent the whole series following Eren and the others, so we got hooked on them, but try to see it from an objective point of view. Yes, Eren and Levi let their emotions take over what needed to be done, despite all rational reason. During this scene, we all behave exactly like what Floch approaches Eren and Levi. We are not objective. He is. What medals for, everyone is dead. We bury who, there is no body to bury. It hurts to hear, but it's just the truth. It is only the cruelty of this world.

I don't get some people saying Floch is objectively right in that scene. How? He definitely has many good points but also issues in his arguments/approach too. Accusing especially Eren that the decision was solely based on their emotions even though Eren explained well before with logical examples why Armin was also a good strategic choice . He wasn't even the one who made the decision either, Levi was. Also Floch going off on them at the worst time and saying shit like you should've died after the fact is disrespectful. Why do people not consider that Floch could also be partially motivated by his emotions too? Remember he didn't want Erwin to live just because it was the better choice according to him but also because he wanted the "Devil" to not get away so easily and stay to suffer with them. They are all biased really imo and there wasn't a "correct" choice unless you care only about military rules from our world etc

(The fact that you find that his argument is not entirely true does not detract from the fact that you admit that it is partially true.) Armin was also a good strategic choise, indeed, but like Hange says to Mikasa, Armin doesn't have Erwin's experience and leader ship. Armin have make good stategic choices, yes, ans he is exeptionnal, yes, but Erwin have decades of leadership and good strategic choises too. Floch incriminates Levi too, by saying that he got carried away by his emotions, like Eren, which is objectively true. If he had killed Sieg rather than hoping that Erwin was still alive, or if he had given the syringe directly to Eren when he asked him, things would have been much different. The fact that you do not take it into account even though I cited it in my commentary shows the partiality of your response in favor of Eren. Floch going off all of them because, juste like he said to Eren, Eren think he is always in the right, just like a child who doesn't want to listen to anything. FACT. What medals for, almost all the soldiers are dead. FACT. Why a funeral there is no body to bury. FACT. The only one can kill the titans is the evil. Which fits in with Armin's thinking to Eren that they won't be able to win if they're not willing to make sacrifices. Recurrent idea that comes back in seasons 1, 2 and 3. So, FACT. He says that Mikasa knew how to make up for herself. FACT. When he says Hitch that that Marlowe surely only felt fear and regretted being where he was in his last moments, that's a FACT too. When he tells Mikasa and Eren to stop thinking that they have a monopoly on suffering, because on the other side of the wall there are no soldiers left alive and they have all been slaughtered alive. FACT. When he goes after Conny and Jean, saying that they didn't rebel against their superiors, but that they didn't try to stop Eren and Mikase either, just watching. FACT. He is telling the thruth here, and only it. Effectively, Floch didn't want to leave Erwin alive just because it was the right strategic choice, but, in part, he did so for that reason anyway. Just as Eren and Levi let themselves be swayed by their emotions, so did Floch. I do not disagree. I say he was the most objective despite it, in a more objective way than Eren and Mikasa who tells that it is by tactical choice that they wanted to privilege Armin were it's wrong. Even Armin admits that saving him wasn't the most logical choice. Because he, even if it is his life that we are talking about, has remained impartial. But humans are like that. Of course you will privilege to save your friends or your family rather than strangers in a situation that requires it. No one is fundamentally right or wrong here. But let's take the example of the military, (that's good, they are.) Well a military must be able to do what needs to be done, without being affected by his emotions, like Levi did after the female titan kill his squad, or like all the survey corp did, going straight to death to give Levi an opening against the beast titan. If we ask a soldier to fulfill a mission objective to the detriment of his family, well he must do it, for the common good. For the victory, and not for his personal interest or under the influence of emotion. A soldier must stay pragmatic. If you don't see how pragmatic logic would have wanted Erwin to be saved at the expense of Armin, and not the other way around, it's maybe because you yourself lack of pragmatic logic.

Regardless if he makes a lot good points doesn't make it the absolute truth in every way nor does it excuse the way he goes about it. Anyway the Erwin vs Armin was a horrible situation with so many factors to consider especially in the moment. I really think it's more nuanced than saying either choice was factually correct, soldiers or not they were two human lives. Weighing which is more "valuable" will always be shitty. Also why does everyone assume your opinion about it has to do with favoritism torwards a character? It's not always the case.

As a member of the royal family possessing the Founding Titan, she's bound by the first king's war renouncing will. Rod Reiss said it in episode 7 when Historia asked him why the Reiss family in 100 years never freed humanity from the titans. That's why Grisha killed them and stole the power for himself. Also, I love how Floch triggers everyone with his comments, because deep down we all know he's telling the ugly truth. You, and most viewers, react the same way Eren, Mikasa and Levi did: by bringing your emotions into the matter. I'm pretty sure Isayama is taking to the audience as well when Floch confronts the gang.

And here it comes a just good one, the 4th season where the studio wasn't able to convey the same quality, epicness and hype as the previous seasons, but the story is still really good.

I’m pretty sure he had survivors guilt considering he was the only survivor from the charge and he just needed to vent, Marlo was the the one he confided to and he’s gone now. Imagine having no say after surviving through that onslaught and having the serum given to a complete stranger to you, instead of the commander you intrusted your literal life to.

@@adam_clown You are saying that as if Floch cared about the commander. He wanted to bring him back just to punish him because their world was like a living hell and wanted Erwin to suffer more. Also, Floch surviving was pure luck, he is not entitled to anything. They were all going to die but he got lucky. If you want to make an argument about people having "no say" then that is the exact argument you can make for Eren or Levi or Mikasa. They are the ones that have worked hard and accomplished a lot for the scouts, unlike Floch. So, they have a lot more "say" on the important choices, not a new recruit who got lucky and survived.

@@AncientDragon101 Not exactly, he wanted to Kill the Commander for putting them through that charge, but then he realized when saw Levi slaughtering the Titans that their gamble/sacrifice paid off. Levi was able to take down the Beast and the rest of the Titans. He wanted to bring Erwin back because he was the “Devil” that can make the difficult choices that no one can, despite the cost. Despite Floch being “Lucky” he still survived regardless and still is part of Scouts. As an audience we’re biased to our main characters because we knew everything they went through. Floch doesn’t really know any of them, other than Levi, which is why he addressed him first about the Serum when he arrived with Erwin, oblivious to the fact that Armin was in the same situation.

Taking away personal emotions, Floch was logically correct. Erwin should've been the one chosen. He had the intelligence and experience, not to mention, charisma to lead the scouts. And while Armin could improve with time, time was something they didn't have. The one thing that made choosing Armin over Erwin make a slight bit of sense were their dreams. Erwin's was to see the basement, to know if he and his father were correct. Armin's was to see the entire world and its wonders. Kenny had previously said that everyone has to be drunk on something to continue moving forward. And Erwin's goal was much closer than Armin's. What if Erwin were to lose motivation after seeing what was in the basement? It wasn't that likely, but it was a possibility. That was the only merit Armin had over Erwin in being chosen. Floch may have been a bit aggressive and direct in how he approached the matter, but he was logically in the right. And for his attitude he said it himself, he's a coward. He was never meant for this job, but he chose it thinking he had a chance. Now he regrets it but can't go back. He's witnessed all his friends and comrades die, and he's suffering from the guilt of being the only one to survive. Now, their biggest hope (Erwin) has died. It's no wonder he's mad at the people who saved an inexperienced, expendable soldier over an elite commander. He's trying to do his best to do what he originally planned to do. Play his part in saving humanity.

I am glad y'all questioned "Why Eren concluded that Historia would have to be turned into a titan?" Because Zeke commanded the pure titans in human form while injured, Eren did the same by touching Dina Fritz pure titan while in human form and Rod & Historia activated the Founding titan by touching Eren with no serum in them. So it's not completely out of the question whether the can achieve their goal when needed to control pure titans with Historia's help while she's human. Eldian blood has the power.

I've seen a lot of reactors forget so make sure to remember that Historia would have to be either a pure or intelligent titan to activate the coordinate power, it's definitely a very important distinction. Also it's worth remembering Eren's reasoning for not telling anyone about it too. 1) it's just a theory he had, not really confirmed 2) the military would want to turn her most likely into an intelligent one, so at the moment possibly by eating Armin 3) Force her to have children to maintain the royal bloodline.

Flock is such an interesting character. Because in truth... he's kinda right. For us who know Armin it makes sense but, to everyone else, to the normal soldiers it would be ridiculous. A kid versus potential versus a man who has single handed led the scout farther then they have ever gone... To someone who doesn't know Armin it's nothing short of absurd. If you heard that during a war, the president of the united states and a random solder were both fatefully injured and they chose to focus the medical resources they had to save the solder, it wouldn't make any sense to any of us.

Can't believe you guys finished S3! Easily one of the best in all of anime, but S4 is great too so no worries there. Eren is probably thinking that normally the Founding titan would be with a royal, so technically that royal is a titan. Agree with Morgan, Floch's haircut IS stupid, also he did F-all during that entire fight while Armin devised the plan to takedown the Colossal, so I'm just not going to hear him. He is just mad that Erwin died because he thinks Erwin should have suffered more. Of course AoT's version of a Beach Episode turns into a downer immediately, though at least we got Mikasa's smile 😍. Looking back though, that's probably one of the saddest scenes in AoT seeing Eren like that.

Hard agree man, but I still think there's some truth to Floch's opinion. Just by participating in battle and charging at the Beast Titan gives his views validity. He was speaking some hard truths that most of us viewers don't like because we're emotionally attached to the main characters.
