I love that this guy called his fake dog Baskerville, definitely a man of culture.

I am at a loss for words, almost, for the caregiver. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer, I dropped everything; gave up my schooling, career, and home, to move in with him to be his full-time caregiver. I did not expect pay. I got free board and room for caring for him. The doctors told us that without treatment, dad would have about 3 "good" months left, then 3 "bad" months. With treatment, he would have about 19 months, with about the final 6 weeks or so being a struggle for both of us. Dad had 16 1/2 years, with only the final 6 weeks being very bad. I would never, in my life, ask him to pay me; love has no price, and although I have no career left, no savings, and no house (my youngest son and I rent-share now) I have no regrets.

They gave my daddy less than a year to live when I was in the 7th grade 1986-87ish. After 58 years of marriage, my parents passed 47 days apart in 2017. I’m sorry for your loss, but grateful you had that time with him. 😇🪽

While it is nice that you had a good relationship with your father, that you could make those sacrifices and feel no regrets, you can’t use it as a litmus test for other people. Your father clearly had no one else to rely on, and they also sound like they didn’t have the money to get another caretaker, but this man does he’s just choosing to be a cheapscape for the sake of controlling some thing while he’s half way to being bedridden. Could you say the same if your father had been the kind of person who would be manipulating his child taking advantage of their trust, and doing it all on purpose because they can. Feel glad that you had a father who loved you when you could spend that extra time with them but don’t look down on someone who’s not in that position, because not everyone is lucky enough to have a loving parent.

@@emeraldpichu1 Thank you for the kick in the butt that I needed. I have heard horror stories from both the bedridden and the caregivers. I promise not to be judgemental in the future. I did not realize that I was until your comment. I was not there, so I do not know both sides of the story. Thank you for taking this opportunity to turn my comment into a teaching moment. Peace and Love.

First story - Story said he was worried that he would lose his security deposit. If he owned the place (through inheritance), what security deposit would he lose?
@DesiArcy
@DesiArcy 5 ай бұрын
Clearly, he means the security deposit that was paid *to him* for the agreed-upon borrowing of the property. I'm really not a fan of this story -- he had every right to be angry that the place got trashed, but he didn't have the right to threaten the people who were in the beach house given that he *agreed* to let her friends borrow it for the weekend.

1:00)Another first rate nitwit. He did not change the locks after the first wrecking party. Why would he put up a security deposit for his own house? 9:26)Did call the post office? In the US that is a misuse of a mailbox. Some have "For official mail use only" stamped into them.

Why do people allow themselves to be used. Yes, you already know the mentality of the person asking you for favors and still decide to be used because you want them to like you. She’s lucky that the judge ruled in her favor but she needs to stop being nice to people like that just to get along with them. It’s okay to say ‘no’. Also “no” is a complete sentence. You don’t need to explain yourself. No means just that. It’s not a maybe or perhaps later. It’s simple and to the point. I use it on a regular basis and it works. To soften the no, just say no thanks. Never ever apologize for saying no. Drop it and end the discussion.

Last: OP should have sorted out the terms and conditions BEFORE moving in with her dad. Get a letter or email outlining the agreement
@Mcflame1539
@Mcflame1539 Жыл бұрын
There is a reason if you ever make some sort of agreement with someone like Karen. That you make a contract that states that SHE is the one to pay for all the damanges instead of you having to pay for it out of your own pocket. I don't know why OP did not sue Karen for the destruction of his property after she was arrested. I know I would have.

The problem with the insurer should have been reported to the state’s Department of Insurance. In some states they are are very much on top of stuff like this. It really might have been worthy of a law suit for bad faith.

In my state health insurance had to be paid within 30 days of claim...I had doctor after doctor coming after me because the claims were unpaid and asked all claimants to resubmit...they then got paid. I begin telling all doctors to submit claims twice...the denial of the 2nd claim proved receipt of the first claim and the doctors were then paid on time...that company was sued by the state for that practice and ended up with a substantial fine

Those certified mail letters are evidence for a court case. Absolute proof that somebody at the company received the data. Now they have to come up with an explanation of what they did with the data.

The first story is nonsense. 1) The narrator states that he went to Karen's house, peeked in the window, and somehow was instantly transported to his own house where he saw people partying inside. 2) Transporting through time as well as space, the narrator is now suddenly a second party on another weekend. 3) If he owns the house, how can he have a security deposit? If you're going to write a completely made-up a story, don't forget the all-important editing phase.

@madrage453
@madrage453 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, nothing about the first story makes any sense whatsoever. You said your grandparents left you to the house. And then you mention your security deposit. If it's your house, you don't have a security deposit, you only have a security positive if you're running from somebody. secondly You said you let Karen use your house. One weekend and you were gonna Coke confront her about the damage. But yet they were people in your house. The following weekend without you ever talking to Karen about the first time?

So what was it? Did you inherit the beach house from your grand parents or are you renting and that's why you were worried about the security deposit. This is what is called a flaw in the plot

S1 OP did it to himself. OP is 75% at fault. A new neighbor moves in and without knowing anything about her and having no history to go by, (say after 3 months of Karen staying nearby) he gives access to his beach house. Why can't Karen party in her beach house?
