OP should have gone scorched earth with that Karen. Suing her for harassment and destruction of property filing false claims and paperwork, etc. to the point that she would have never gotten to further harassment.

I actually heard one of a Karen who was visiting Tokyo Japan and demanded that the store clerks speak English

The brits are like that too, they have areas in Spain where they clump up and have english food in english stores. Because they don't like eating spanish food or speaking spanish, in spain. And then they voted for Brexit and complained they had to get a visa to be in Spain and pay for it, haha

There is a video online (I saw it maybe 10 years ago) where a woman overhears another woman and tells her to go back where she came from or learn English. It was in New Mexico, i think. The woman looks at her funny and says, I was speaking Navajo, I AM where I come from.

The "When you come to my country you MUST speak my language and when I visit your country you MUST ALSO speak my language" types, also tend to be the type who think that if they raise their voice and ROAR something that people will magicly be able to understand it.

Karen trespassing on that farm could have gotten her shot if op had been a farmer who didn't tolerate any trespassing on their land. And when she was there while they tore up the soy bean field, that most certainly could have gotten them all shot. But in the end, it was handled in a manner that allowed op to keep farming. If you move out to the sticks, best adapt to living in the sticks instead of trying to change the sticks to your former way of living.

I know what you're saying. It's like someone moving next to an airport and getting upset because of all the airplanes flying around. When I hear about this, I say, "Which was here first, you or the airport?"

I once had a coworker who was sort of like Karen in the first story. She came from Chicago, and as soon as she moved to Tennesse, she was on the phone to whomever that the spraying made she and her mother sick, and it stank here because of the farms. Someone was finally rude enough to tell her to move back to Chicago if she didn't like it in the country.

Why the hell did the OP not call the cops IMMEDIATELY when they saw what was happening?

Probably because the permit paperwork might not have been something that the police are trained to see fraud on? At least that was my guess.

I have 2 Catahoula leopard hounds for farm.dogs and they are serrious k9s but right now my neighbor rented my pasture for Solomon the angus bull. He is a nice bull if he knows and likes you ( yes cattle recognise people) Solomon gets out of the pasture and comes up to my front yard as fast as I put him.in, he has actually attacked tractors before and can lift a loaded tractor half way off the ground. Good luck coming on my farm.with equipment the old boy does not recognise lmao.

Most of the ninety people living in my very rural town have lived here for decades: at twenty one years I am a relative newcomer. Sharon is in her mid eighties and was born here, as was her late husband and all their kids. We welcome newcomers, especially those with children, and in the last couple of years six houses have changed hands to provide very welcome use of the playground and ballfield. One house, however, was bought by someone who is using the home for short term rentals. It is ideal, I suppose, one door up from the lake and beach, which can be clearly seen on the other side of my small farm. That appears to be a problem, though, because my tractor and backhoe make too much noise and my compost offends the new owner. He has even complained that my cats wander under his house when they are actually catching rats! I am a pretty patient person, having learned to deal with the impatient public over thirty years of ER nursing, but when some idiot starts filing complaints with the Regional District about a farm that was there when he bought his house, and the noise from another neighbour's mill, I am too old to wait before responding in kind. I have moved my compost to the property line under his picture window, laying it out in a fifty foot windrow, well mixed with fresh manure provided by the neighbour whose rooster and chickens were also complained about. I have advised his guests they can no longer borrow my canoe and kayaks. I have purchased some very noisy ducks for slug control and planted a row of fast growing alders along the property line that will destroy his view during the summer months. The neighbour on the other side has been running his mill from 0700 to 1900 Monday through Saturday, instead of the three weekdays he used to. He has had to hire some help, and has trucks delivering raw logs at odd hours, with back up horns and flashing lights galore. None of this violates our local community plan. So far we have reduced this moron to howling imprecations and frivilous complaints that are no longer being taken seriously, but we will not stop before a realtor sign is posted in front of that house. I also own the acreage behind us. If it comes to that I will clearcut behind his back fence and build another chicken coop. The law allows me to operate ninety nine hens before I need a license! Nothing brings a small community together better than a common enemy.

As an American, I feel for the guy dealing with the Entitled 'Mericans in Porto Rico. I live in a multi-ethnic area and hear multiple languages on a regular basis. Heck, I When I went to France I was totally not surprised that people there didn't speak flawless English with only a slight French accent like the TV shows and movies showed. Some people really are that dumb though.

It seems to be a rule of thumb that people from Europe, Africa & South America are fluent in multiple local languages - & likely English as well - while visiting Americans can only speak English & are entitled enough to demand the locals do too.

if this is the USA the SCotUS has said that the farm was there first. If u dont want the noise and smells that go with farming dont more anywhere near on. It also went on to say that farms are much more important then some fools house and that even if the land was not being used as a farm when u moved next to it if it is ever again used as a farm u have to put up with it b/c once more the farm is much more important them ur little house.

2nd story, my grandfathers brother had some work done on his house, he was not the "you can screw me over" type, he made had some VERY strict contracts made, long explanation short, the contractor had X amount of time (almost twice as long as would be needed) and was going to be paid Y amount with no aditional fees, anything extra would be from own pocket. BUT contractor tried to screw him over by giving him "extra fees" (against the contract) a quick court case later and a different contractor finished the build and old got the bill, refused to pay, was declared bankrupt and his stuff was auctioned off to pay.

I think most Americans insist on people speak English to them in other countries cause a bunch are entitled. As far as the couple in the post, if they hadn't been rude and instead had been polite the cashier might've been willing to speak in English if he did know it PS most other countries do know English as a second language. However, people should still learn the main language of whichever country they visit.

That story reminded me of what happened in a sports shop in North Wales when some English people came in and they started to complain that they couldn't understand what was being said to another person because they were speaking Welsh and they were told that they are in Wales and it is a different language and they have no write to know what someone else is talking about just because they have walked in they will be spoken to in English when they are being served but you can't expect a Welsh person that is talking to another Welsh person to speak English in a shop in Wales and if they don't like it they're welcome to leave .All or most of their business came from the local Welsh speaking community very little came from holiday season of about 2 months in the summer and they expected them to change the language they speak because they came into the shop I know live in France and they speak French they don't change anything just because English people walk in if they are lucky the person that is servicing them might speak some English but they are in their own country so they don't have to speak English it's up to them to speak French which I find very hard but I get by

Your stories are fun. It would be great if you edited the soundtracks so they don't contain weird clips from other recordings. It kinda sounds like you have Tourette Syndrome with the weird sound chops. If you do have Tourettes, my apologies. I meant no disrespect, just a comment on how it comes across.

Speaking English in the USA can be reasonably expected. However, the language differences can create some situations that seem counter-intuitive. I've spent some time in El Paso and Juarez which is on the other side of the border. It's funny how it seems easier to find people speaking English on the Mexican side than on the US side.
