Back when the South has its own sound. Before it took over and rap music melted into one sound. It’s a damn shame if you ask me. No more David Banner, no more OutKast, no more UGK, no more three 6 mafia. It’s a damn shame.

R.I.P. Raynard Johnson I did not know him but I was a young black kid in Mississippi that lived only 80 miles away from where he was killed and I was shook when I heard of his death becuz he was around my age. I always kept him in my memory after all these years. I remember telling my co workers and my boss at work that I didn't believe he committed suicide and thought that it was an intentional criminal act.

This song... back in the day when iPods weren’t a thing. Cell phones were massive and didn’t have internet. If you wanted to listen to music you had to buy the whole cd. I miss those days. The world seemed to be a better place. People loved and respected each other. This song was MY FAVORITE!! I listened to this song on repeat every day.. I had just got my drivers license. It’s funny how listening to a song takes you back to a time when you thought you knew everything... almost 20 years later and I realize I don’t know anything. These lyrics are even deeper in my 30s. And I still know every word to this song...

This song hits me every time I hear it It’s just so powerful He’s really battling himself in the lyrics It’s like God just know I’m trying but the evils against me can be strong sometimes “Sometimes I wish I wasn’t born in the first place” “I don’t know if I can take this world anymore” Yet while feeling like that notice he still taking time to give material away and bring the lost souls home Just beautiful and this is what reminds me why I fell in love with hip hop

This is one of the only genuine songs in the rap industry. I grew up listening to rap, and it took me a while to find out that it's mostly garbage. But this man was crying out to God, and done something that no other rapper had done in the mainstream media. Which was to give the glory to God, and to ask for his forgiveness. I respect this man very much because I know that it was not easy for him to make a song like this in the corrupt music industry.
