Personally I think the game of life Twists and Turns is the best because you get to pick the directions you go and you win by Life points, which is basically how trilling your life.

I can just imagine your wife as a "Crazy cat lady" but instead of going to the animal shelter for a weekly adoption of a cat. She would go to the local orphanage for a weekly adoption of a child. But every time she go back to return the adopted children after you tell her to, she gets another one because she can't see (Child #14) "all sad and alone". But you can't do anything because you're busy cooking and cleaning after the adopted children.

I must say, I prefer the older classic board compared to this new one, you know, the one where the spinner is attached to the board, you had little life tiles you had to collect, buildings and bridges that you place on the board to represent specific things on the board, and you have 2 options for retirement

The houses and careers were still random though iirc. If you completed college you drew 3 and got to choose your career. No college meant you drew face down and chose without knowing. Houses were also random at first I think but the spots for buying a new one let you choose one of 3.

I heard once Bradley designed _The Checkered Game of Life_ to cope with depression. That said, this game is some extremely toxic propaganda. Ironically, "pink" (more accurately _magenta_ ) is the rarest color in the visible spectrum for complicated physics and probability reasons you probably don't care about.

My great uncle on my dads side of my family created the concept for this board game and later sold his idea to Milton Bradley, I went to help clean out his apartment after he passed and found old prototypes of board games that he created around the same time.

How many times have they changed this game? My physical game I think I got in the mid 2010’s is so much different from this one in the video. I think I recall another version that was made in the 2000’s that had other stuff in it that neither of those versions have as well.

The only thing not accurate about the game of life is the drugs you’ll do along the way and the overall feeling of emptiness as you traverse the sad miserable husk of a life which could’ve been more fulfilling. Until you finally snap, realize it’s everyone else’s fault for their ignorance, buy an assault rifle, and take it out on those who wronged you before turning it on yourself.

For a project in one of my classes in high school, my group and I made a Game of Life board game parody where instead of focusing on adulthood, it focused on life in elementary through high school (hence why it was called the Game of Academia). I only bring this up because it did include some awkward moments like you described (I actually wrote most of those scenarios myself) so that made me think of the game lol. We ended up winning first place in the little contest we had in class to see who's game was better, but unfortunately the game is not for sale :D

@@crazycap2945 Well (and all of this is at the top of my head) in some versions of the game of life, you have to complete certain actions with action cards (I think in one of the versions there is a card where where you do modeling so every player has to strike a pose), but instead of that, there were cards where players had opportunities to tell stories about themselves to other players (like maybe strange things they believed in as a kid, etc.), which allows players to get to know each other better. There were also cards about grades, extracurricular activities, home life, and relationships, some of which might require you to move forward some spaces or move back a few spaces (like if you got a bad grade on a test or got in trouble at home). At one point, I believe there was an opportunity to get your license and a car and doing so (or not doing so) affected you socially because sometimes you might want to go somewhere but can't because you have no transportation. Of course, the game ended with high school graduation instead of retirement lol

Damn.... I have the game of around 2016-2017 and it isn't even that long but it has some differences already. You can't fail college, you don't have the investment system i think and pets too... And it was clearly made to be played with a huge group hecause cards are mostly more like "tell a joke and if someone laughs you get 10k bucks".

I believe we had the 1980s version for the Game of Life and what I remember playing it was that I didn't care about the money. I wanted a family by the end of the game and I remember one instance where I didn't get kids during the run and I was upset. I think I may have even actually won the game having the most money but that didn't matter to me because I did not have any kids. There was also another instance where I kept landing on baby tiles and it was to the point I had no more holes to stick the peg figures to represent my kids in so I had to lay one across the middle. Needless to say in that run I was happy.
