Fired For Sexy Pictures? Or Weight Shaming?

An employee at a bank was fired for posting sexy pictures with her man but we are torn… Was she fired because the pictures were “too sexy”? Or does it have to do with her weight?

I don't mean to throw shade but Adrienne cannot be one to talk because she has quite some sultry photos on my IG and a simple google search will show a whole lot more provocative photos than these ones. Nonetheless, I think that the company should have given a warning and explained this and had a conversation with her about these photos. I understand she has her own right to do as she pleases but if it was addressed in the contract they should have reviewed it and gone based on her work ethic and proceeded from there. They could have easily been removed from her facebook or wherever they were posted. Anyways, I wish them all the best.

I've worked at a bank and I honestly believe that she was fired for the type of pictures they were. Banks try to have a clean family friendly image. A girl I worked with got fired for the language she was using online against another woman not the same but it's not good for their image.

Yep, people who don't work in the sector don't understand that though. There's a code of conduct that must be adhered to on and off the job. For instance people saying she was off duty. Well if you work for a bank you can't accpet certain 'gifts' from clients while you're off duty either. It's just the burden that comes with the job.

Why is it only okay to have a naked body when you're home alone? Nudity is natural and doesnt need to be seen in a purely sexual context. The photographer posted them on his side and tagged her in them, making it appear on her facebook. a few co-workers saw the pictures and were talking about it when a boss walked pass,and there you have it. I do 100% agree with Loni ! While a senior in high school, a female teacher told a friend of mine who was is a curvy girl that the outfit she was wearing is not appropriate. My friend pointed out that girls were wearing mini dresses to school that were inappropriate but no staff said anything to them. My teacher was like oh but they are not doing anything, she is thin it's just not the same. Next thing you know we all got into a full altercation with her.

I disagree with Loni and Jeannie. They don't live the same lives as normal people who work in the corporate world. The corporate banking world is very different from the entertainment industry. Corporate world is very serious and not as laid back as to what you post on social media and what you wear to work. I have been working in finance for years now and women whether skinny or not can't even show cleavage when they come to work or even wear a dress that shows a lot of thigh or an open back. They can get into trouble. Sure these girls have contracts stating that they have to be tasteful with what they post but if any of those four girls posted a picture like that on social media, they will still be sitting in those chairs. I'm not trying to downplay the discrimination against women who are bigger but I think in this situation, they are reaching for something that is not quite there. Given the situation I feel like it would've have been a better argument for women being able to express the message of body positivity instead of skinny vs fat women.

But when you work for a corporate company you CANNOT post sensual pictures, REGARDLESS of your weight. I'm a thinner woman and if I were to take a picture in my underwear, straddling my man with my breasts pushed up on him I would be fired the NEXT DAY with no hesitation. The place I work is big on that and a thinner woman got fired last year for always showing up to work in low cut shirts. A woman who worked at an animal clinic posted a pic on her social media bragging about killing a tomcat with a bow and arrow as she posed holding up the dead cat. Once people found out where she worked, the clinic was under siege with angry protesters demanding her termination. If what you post incurs negative reactions that bleed into the company, they have every right to fire you. You've become a liability.

It has nothing to do with weight and yet Jeanie and Loni are trying to make it about weight. Not everyone is comfortable or okay with nudity, and certainly not companies with an image to protect, ESPECIALLY ones that cater to parents with children. When you work for a company, you knowingly--or unknowingly----represent their values, and anything you do can affect them (like the sports reporter). Those photos were of her topless and I know a number of people who would find that completely inappropriate. Why, like Adrienne said, she would feel the need to share those photos on online is a mystery to me. I understand that she wanted to spread body positivity, but there are others ways you can do that.
