@@whatzittooyah yes that is completely true, but still they move on faster than who they abuse. Not to say they are healed, which is what the abuse usually does before they move one. Justin said he was emotionally abusive in all his relationships so he moved on to more people before being healed and kept the same pattern. I think I can relate with Selena as a woman who has been there, abused verbally, emotionally, physically and mentally. Some women at a young age falls in love are sometimes naive and tend to put the young man up on a pedestal. We give so much and become so vulnerable and we forget about ourselves. We become so submissive because we think it’s the norm and we don’t want to disappoint the man we love. It’s real! It’s unfortunate but there can always be a way out. I think that was a great question that Adrian posed at 2:30: "At what point do you stop telling your story?" Amanda and Jeannie chimed in, with the latter saying that "I hate that". You can enourage people to speak but pay attention to specific people they allow to "tell their story". If this was a female musican they all idolize and make excuses for, and a past male lover comes out and talks about his past with her, I wouldn't be surprised if the women on this panel gave him the cold shoulder. There's so much bias against men in favor of women. He will be viewed as the bitter, old boyfriend who's trying to interfere with female's success. Selena Gomez can speak on her relationship if she wants, especially if she hasn't talked about it much, but there is a point where speaking publically about a high profile relationship becomes past its expiration date, like America's obsession with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, particularly if the conversation is superficial and trite.There are certain stories that are constantly rehashed and doesn't have to be anyone's business. If the women are all about equality, they should keep the same energy regardless of the past lover is male or female, high profile or not.

Emotional abuse is mostly the same as verbal abuse.Until you stop talking about a problem you are not getting healed.Healing is when you hardly remember what affected you.Selena will forever be the girl I wished Justin had married because I know they both loved eachother. But most times who we strongly love is who is not so good or relationship wise good for us.She will find her better half.

I actually think it was really respectful of her to wait until he was settled down and that it would no longer effect his dating life before coming out with all this and releasing "lose you to love me".. she didn't have to do it but she did.. 🙌🏻

In my opinion you can NEVER stop talking about ANY type of abuse that you go threw, especially if it can help others. Don’t say it’s good for her to tell her story then ask when when you stop telling it. You keep telling your story and try and help ANYONE that goes threw abuse no matter what form it’s in. You can forgive and not forget and continue to work on yourself and continue to SAVE lives of many others who aren’t able to over come their abuse.

Women are more likely to be abuse emotional than physical these days. Times have changed men's are being emotionally abusive more now. It's hard to accept being in an emotionally abusive relationship because you don't even realise until it's too late. Selena Gomez has every right to talk and express her emotions because she was most likely wasn't allowed to express her emotions in the relationship. We need more celebrity like her being awareness to this issue.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

One toxic relationship can f you up for life . It makes you expect pain & rejection in every relationship you enter after it . It destroys your self worth & confidence. Gas lighting and mental abuse stays with you for life! And those that say “ oh it was years ago get over it “ clearly have never been in a mentally abuse relationship!
@Thembi_TM4 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% with Jeanie, I feel like we all want our opinions to matter when it's convenient for us, they have discussed issues of the #me too movement in this table and for A to say/ask " at what point do you tell the story" it's unnecessary, each person's journey to healing, gathering confidence and strength to talk about abuse is different. In my opinion Selena is not saying what she said as an accusation against Justin, I think for her it's being vulnerable and telling other young women to recognise the signs of abuse, that it can come from any type of relationship and to love themselves enough to get out of such situations.

It’s true with what Adrienne is saying though, Selena should’ve been done talking about him. He’s married and has a wife now she could’ve just said my ex she didn’t even have to call him out by name. She can share her story as much as she wants but he has a wife that is going to hear this and it’s going to affect her because I’m sure her hearing about Selena mentioning Justin time and time again in publications/interviews eventually becomes annoying. Like unless Selena has permission from Hailey and Justin to talk she really should stop mentioning Justin by name in interviews. It just gives people something to talk about like stand on your own quit using Justin as a crutch to stay on media.

Everyone would’ve known it was Justin. She didn’t bring this up to bring Justin down. Selena is seen as a role model, lot of people look up to her. People have no idea how much it hurt by someone you Love and care about. It’s absurd to me how the abusers or guilty person move on so fast and treat the other person better than they did you. It’s hurts you and you left to wound if something is wrong with you. I honestly think if you hurt someone you say you love apologize and make things right and not find someone else.

I was in an emotionally abusive relationship for a year. He was former military and had PTSD, and I took that very seriously, and he used that to manipulate me. Every time I had any complaint about his behavior, or even any time I was personally struggling, he'd turn it into a pity party for him, and it was alllll about how his PTSD affected bla bla bla. Every time I was mad, he'd turn it into "well if you left me no one else would ever love me". I tried to break up with him 5 times. One of the times we'd been apart for 2 weeks and he called me saying that he "was taking out a life insurance policy" because he "didn't think he'd make it another 2 years" so basically threatening to kill himself if I didn't come back. Soon after I came back strictly out of fear of what would happen to him, he lost his job. And I left for good the second that he got a new one. And he left me hundreds of messages and voicemails basically still saying he was going to kill himself, and that I was selfish for leaving while he was going through a crisis, and that his depression was worse and he was always 'disoriented', and that he only bought his dog because of me. Not once did he take any of my advice, listen to any critique I had. He bought the damn dog AGAINST my advice, and refused to listen to me when I tried to teach him how to train it. He isolated me from my friends and told me that i "wasn't a good fit" for the career path I wanted to take. And yet he somehow turned it around so it was all my fault. Emotional abuse is no joke. There are no physical signs so the outside world can't see it. It is the most manipulative and evil thing you can do to a person.
