I published a book series. I handed my ex-husband the first book, and he slid it back to me, saying, 'he's not a big reader'. My eyes snapped open. If he hates your accomplishments, he hates you, too.

Yeah, that's what I got from what he was saying, too. I've noticed in recent years that a lot of men out there act like they're the prize and it's confusing as hell when you're a girl who loves to be pursued and then men don't pursue, yet they respond when you text or call them. I don't pursue men at all and I hardly got approached in my entire life. Are there just a lot of weak men in today's society?

I find the people saying stuff like “oh buy Simone is not mad so why are y’all mad” or “y’all are bitter than you are single and Simone is not” VERY hypocritical. Where was this energy when Jada Pinkett was airing out her husband’s business online? Did anyone ask “oh but what about Will? Is he upset?” Nope, many people, especially men, were OFFENDED on Will’s behalf and absolutely dogged out Jada & made jokes out of her alopecia. It was all “off with Jada Pinkett’s head!” But as soon as a WOMAN is on the receiving end of disrespect, it’s “oh y’all want her to be single like y’all huh”

Living under patriarchy has made men think they literally do nothing wrong, because behavior like this always happens and always goes unnoticed. It’s not that they care about what simone thinks, it’s about the way they think this is okay. They look at what he said and saw nothing wrong with it. And now they run around telling women they’re jealous and bitter and crazy for turning this into “another gender war”.

Honestly the way he spoke about how he struggled and everything trying to get drafted and his personal life just confirms he married her for money. He also spoke about being annoyed at the fact that she gets attention when they go out just shows how jealous and competitive he is. It's just so sad how she has to do so much while he gives her below bare minimum efforts. She cooks, she motivates him as a player and encourages him to go to therapy, she coddles his ego, she even helps him analyze how he plays and gives him advice while he just sits there and looks pretty. The worst part is how she's defending this man up and down for the mess he made. He should be the one protecting her from public scrutiny. Yet he's just hiding behind her skirt

@@knockems no, there's not anything wrong with that. but there is something wrong with a man who will downplay your accomplishments, who will try to humble you because they're insecure and can't handle that you're successful and powerful and accomplished. and i think because simone wasn't valued as a kid, she hasn't yet healed and developed a solid sense of self worth. which means she's going to be willing to settle for a man that talks about her like this. he talks about her like she's not a big deal, like she's not that important, right in front of her. and if he REALLY loved her, instead of being like "oh, i'm the prize" or whatever, he'd be like, "i dunno how i pulled simone freaking biles. she's amazing, and i'm SO lucky." but he's not. he's insecure and threatened by how accomplished she is. so instead of uplifting and celebrating her, he tries to minimize and humble her and downplay her accomplishments. when instead, he should be her biggest cheerleader. and the part we're all upset about is how she sits there and smiles, like she doesn't even realize that she deserves to be treated better. but she does. she deserves someone who will see how beautiful, powerful, ambitious and wonderful she is. that's the point.

When I was kicked out of that home at 17, my dad stepped in. My dad defended me, stood up for me, got me therapy, helped me get my diagnosis so I can get help for myself, and is now helping me through college. He helped me to walk halfway around my country for charity by calling me every day and keeping me safe. My dad is emotionally available and willing to fo whatever it takes to elevate me. He invited his entire office to my violin performances. My dad is my cheerleader and I really appreciate that. Moral of the story: don't go after pretty man unless you're literally a fairytale goddess. This pretty man will humble you even if you're young, cute, rich and world famous. A lady like Simone could have married a whole sport TEAM OWNER or a tech billionaire. Because yes, a rich man somewhere right now is looking for this kind of a wife. And for the very unpretty man it's the opposite, if they suffered rejection too much they became angry towards women and as a result, mizo.

Perhaps why most men left or cheats on the the builder wife after he got rich -- he resents her. For being there when he was a loser and help him every step of the way. It defies the logic that women have been thought, but it makes perfect sense -- the builder wife is a reminder that he was once a loser and had to get her help to build himself up. He is silently seething with resentment and when he finally has the money, he "takes his revenge" on the builder wife.

That guy was such a prize that NO NFL TEAM (including the worst ones) PICKED HIM during the draft, and when he got on a team, he was basically a bench warmer. A high value woman like Ms Biles who is a LIVING LEGEND in gymnastics AND is well-known by the casual viewer gave him some attention, and now he tries to act like “he’s the catch”. If a man calls himself “the prize” in a romantic relationship, I assume he is feminine, which is a turnoff for me (if feminine energy turned me on, I’d date women). If a man chases me, I know I’m his type and he’s interested in me. If I had to get the man’s attention, I know that I’m not his first choice, so I’m not going to waste my time or energy trying to “prove myself”. My time and energy is worth more than money.

The first thing I thought about when I saw this immature boy-man speak about Simone is how consistently we see that women who are abused - as she was by her team physician - do not know THAT THEY CAN DO BETTER than what they are accustomed to. If one has never been treated truly well, never experienced really being accepted, validated, supported & loved, how can one even know what to hold out FOR? Many struggle to do well for themselves in love yet have NO IDEA what it even looks/feels/sounds like in daily life situations. If you have not seen healthy partnership demonstrated you do not have a working compass to follow! So, we make mis steps, stumble, go in the wrong direction, and learn the hard way that THIS is not that (good love). In her case I have so much sympathy because I think that with time the cognitive dissonance of being a world champion outside & being underappreciated in her private life will begin to wear on her. If he doesn't get it & become a better man she may tire of his clownery. I myself had to try many iterations before I became clear about what I have a perfect right to expect. Her learning curve may be faster than many as I expect she can afford a good therapist to guide her. I wish her & her person the best.

The dynamic of their relationship has been switched. Mr Biles is the gold digger and Simone has all the gold. Simone is operating from her masculine energy, providing for and protecting her husband, mean whilst he is operating from his feminine energy, collecting all the gold that his wife has and benefiting from all the promotion and support that she gives him. He showers himself with compliments such as he is the “prize” and she sits and supports him as he does so, cackling at the “prize” that she won. So in a way, their relationship is a “normal” (heavy on quote “normal”) transactional relationship. Unfortunately though, this violates the natural and biological instincts that both a man and woman have, which is for a man to be the hunter and the woman to be the “catch” or the “hunted” and in the long run it will be unsustainable for them. Simone will long for the compliments and Mr Biles will long to hunt and chase after the woman he really wants. There are some successes, but as time goes on and Simone’s confidence increases like you said it will be suicidal for them both to continue living in this switched dynamic.

I feel so bad for doing that and I feel that I got what I planted - ghosting treatment because a male didn't pick me 🤢🤮 3. Anyone who tries to sell you that dream is lying to you. Women are good liars, we promote fake happiness. A woman's job is to ensure she commits to men who has proven themselves and respected your boundaries. Everything else you want to experience is about you and you cultivating it. Men really do not have much to give. They are natural takers. Your job is to have high standard of behaviour that signals you can not be abused or controlled.

It’s usually things I enjoy so it’s been time n energy well spent but whenever I see a man who triggers my desperation for male attention I start scrambling to be “good enough”. Like having my own business, hobbies, etc etc etc just means nothing all of a sudden. Like who I am and what I bring to the world is nothing. I’ve been contentedly single for over decade while I go to therapy and build friendships and such but I do want to end up with someone someday. I’m so glad to see all this discussion, especially among younger women!!!! I can totally understand why Simone would go for a derpy self absorbed pretty boy like that when there’s millions of men who’d worship her and be so proud to be with her. He is however, proud of me, would shout my accomplishments from rooftops and is the most supportive person for me that I know.

💀 I was just talking with a coworker about her new “boyfriend” who does this. He’s making sure she’s a pickmyshia. It’s horrendous then she has the audacity to wonder why other women don’t like her and why she supposedly can’t get along with women 6:42

Keywords folks are missing where he clearly told on himself. In the interview, he stated when she DM him thought “This gotta be fake”. This is because he could not believe his luck. If Simone had not been who she is, those words would never have left his lips. Surely he is not new to women messaging him, so why did he think “This must be fake”?

Key takeaways from the video. Thank you, Elle! ❤ 3 rules: 1. Never shoot your shot with a man and make him feel like he is the prize. 2. Always be your man’s type. 3. Avoid men who try to humble you at all costs.

Exactly. This is why ALL women/ppl need to speak on it! ++ Also why I always speak up on colorism as a lightskinned person, cause when a darker girl does it she’s always painted as “bitter/Angry BW” for speaking the truth. Can’t say that to me 🙄 When we speak on issues outside ourselves we can shine a light on things without people jumping to we “only care because they affect us personally.” At the heart of intersectional sisterhood!! 💘
