I’m in the McNeil high school band and I’m a freshman trumpet. I could not even imagine playing notes that high and fast. There’s a reason Hebron is considered to be the best marching band in the world. Hey, maybe McNeil will get to that point by my senior year 😅

Great playing! I am a fellow high school lead trumpet player and I was wondering if you could do maybe a video of what your practices are like and how you guys act in them to make your band so good. My school is only 2 years old and we are trying to improve our band program in any way we can. We competed last year and this year.

Great playing! Wish I got to play a book like this in high school. Takes a great band to have someone stack this high with that intensity and not blow the balance.
@braydenwhite8970 Жыл бұрын
He does blow the balance. Cant tell in these clips but in BOA finals this is the person sticking out of the sound on every single hit.
@Davis.smith.weightlifting Жыл бұрын
@@braydenwhite8970I’ve seen Hebron live several times in the last few years, including this year. In person, the leads were balanced within the context of the rest of the brass section. It may have been different at grand nationals in person, but at region, they did a good job. I can tell you, in the recordings of 2016 and 2017 Devs, the balance of the leads sound wildly different in Lucas oil with mics than we did in person. Lucas oil is not a good venue for recording, especially if you’re a group that has lots of stacking in the upper brass.

Screaming is cool, every trumpet player wants to be the guy who plays high, but this kid missed the start of every note. We should be pushing for cleanliness more than high notes. Yes, he still had some very impressive things, but I don't want us trumpet players to sell ourselves short as just blow-and-pray machines.

Times have changed for sure, I know what you mean. Trying to play 1st while doing all this would be tough. Gotta give em props. Our HS band directors wouldn’t let us use “cheater” mouthpieces, so I made it my goal to play super loud double Gs and As on a megatone 3C. It was awesome. When I went to play in college pep band, I switched to a schilke 6a4a. When you are a small and scrawny fresh trumpet player ripping and shaking loud double Cs, heads will turn. One of the best moments of my life.
