I have an OM1 & OM4 & I think the Olympus cameras are so under rated! I find them wonderful to shoot with. I have had Leica's & I truly prefer the Olympus cameras, the viewfinders are great! The lenses are very good & small. I also have the 50 1.8 & 28 f2.8. Waiting for the Mexico zine.

One of the best street film cameras made. They made an affordable little 28mm f3.5 pancake-like lens that’s perfect for the streets. It’s no Leica but still lots of fun to shoot. I’ve compared the built in light meter with my Sony a1 as well as my Sekonic L-478-U and it definitely has one of the most accurate light meters made.

I looked at an OM-1 at a flea market once and almost bought it... The viewfinder blew me away... a tiny little camera with such a tiny little prism bump - I never expected looking through it to feel like looking at an IMAX screen! It was amazing - super easy to focus too.

And the prism bulge is the smallest I know of, a bit pointy compared to other camera's, gives the viewfinder extremely thin "bezels"

Really enjoyed this episode, sometimes new equipment can spark the creative juices. You took me back a few decades when I sold OM cameras as a teen in my "Saturday job". I do like the addition of the photos to your blog, so we can enjoy them at leisure without scrolling back and forth through the video timeline. You instinctively know the 28mm focal length, several keepers from this first roll. And of course it wouldn't be an episode without you capturing one person asleep! You've got me debating whether to shoot Portra 160 or 400 today...
@therealsirrobin2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stuart! Portra 160 is nice but I prefer 400 for extra speed. 👍

It's my father camera. Is taking shots from 1976. Still perfectly working. I still use it. I am a true pentax guy, I have almost all the most important pentax cameras from every Era, but the MX. Because I have the OM-2 and it's concept is so similar to MX. I never needed an MX even if I have a tons of lens for the pentax system. I am impressed how you well exposed the shots. You really know how to use an old beauty like this camera. This is a great video. Thank you.

Allegedly, Olympus made their 28mm lenses in the f2 & f3,5 only. Only later, somwhere mis 80's did they created your Zuiko 28mm f2,8, which supposed to be wery sharp and is multicoated. My OM2sp which my late father bought for me is in dire need of CLE for years, so last year my daughter bought me an pristine OM1n for my birthday, so I'm rockig a film Olympus once again...

I just found an Olympus OM10 and want to take it out for some street photos, how did you manage to get your subjects in focus so quickly? Any settings you’d recommend? I’m used to taking my lomo LCA for street photos so I never have to worry too much about manual focusing normally. Love your videos 😊
@0action8472 жыл бұрын
I'm waiting on a Zuiko 28mm f2 to arrive and pair with my om2 spot program for street photography. Zuikos are smaller than the average slr lenses. Mirror slap is the only real down side to the om series.

The 28mm f3.5 is very sharp. The OM2000 had shocking mirror slap but otherwise they seem ok.

Awesome video and Fantastic shots with the OM-2n. Really cool how the shots came out and they have that 3D pop to them on may of the shots. I love the OM-2n it's a fantastic camera, small, and lightweight with awesome Zuiko lenses for it. I bought mine 1yr ago and loved the Olympus system so much that I also got an OM-4Ti. Just 1 question, are you Zone focusing with the OM-2n? I see you taking a lot of quick shots and they are nicely focused. I have a hard time Zone focusing.
