Directly bought one after the video! It’s a great machine and not even that expensive in the context of coffee equipment. Makes a great accessory just for the looks in the kitchen. It’s much cheaper than my main grinder, not even starting with espresso machines 😅

this machine gives me hope for an orange county choppers style show where metal fabricators make exotic espresso machines.

I honestly thought this was going to be more like $2.5-4k. I mean... I'm not going to buy it, but for such a niche product it doesn't seem that crazy for something made like it is.

I love mine. Functional piece of art. It was love at first sight. I got it the week it came out after seeing previews. It has produced one, if not the best, cup I've ever had. The issue is that it is hard to repeat a shot. It is not easy to be consistent with the hand crank. However, you do not use this for your everyday cup. This is a weekend machine, you take out for fun like some ot those collectible car or motorcycle. It is machine, that you get people to gather and have them watch you make espresso from an oil drill looking machine. Yes, it is like a toy to have fun and experiment coffee with.

I love the precision "lever" action and the control. If this machine had a boiler and a reservoir, I'd be seriously tempted to buy.
@jmeryllmanАй бұрын
It will be harder to move around and play with if it is attached to a plug, and a reservoir would change the look.

I am one of those who loves the ritual of manually grinding and brewing decent full bodied tasting espresso. The moment I can afford one, I am getting one. Brand New or second hand

For that amount of money it needs to have a heater in the group. The preheating workflow is a total disaster for such an elegant machine. Might as well buy a Flair at a fraction of the price
@LyK0saАй бұрын
Honestly, for how over engineered it is, I was surprised to see the pricetag that low. But yeah, especially given the sheer amount of metal I really think it should have shipped with integrated heating. It's definitely a showpiece at its core, but with built in pre heating, maybe something like an integrated thermal probe as well, it could have been a serious contender in raw functionality as well (albeit not in terms of value)
@veganpottertheveganАй бұрын
Mostly anyone that buys this won't care about the price(which isn't really that high). You can pair this with an HG-2. Think people with HG-2s think they should have just bought a 1zpresso?

WOW, well, it's a great looking machine, and if one has the money for a piece of functional art, I say go for it. I built in boiler would work, if indeed one can be added to a manual espresso machine, but as a novice, what do I know. Thank you for this present, it definitly opens up a lot of venues in the espresso machine market.
@s96822Ай бұрын
although the geared mechanism makes it seem easy to pull the shot it is using MANY hand rotations to do so. there is a medical entity called repetitive stress motion injury that could result from using this machine frequently. the force needed to pull a lever machine is comfortable and I own a cremina among other machines and have owned other levers as well. the solution to preheating = a butane creme brulee torch.

Very cool looking product at a price point that sits in between the strietman and the flair/cafelat. I would really consider this if the preheating was less cumbersome. I don't mind preheating. I use the rubber plug in my robot basket and do some stuff while it heats. It's a bit of extra work but in return I get a reliable machine + full control. Even with a back flush basket, that looks like a really huge piece of steel and I cannot imagine it being easy to heat. Deal breaker for me.

I've been impressed in general with the Muvna line of espresso products and their quality of construction. Sometimes though the lack of elegance in design trumps quality.

The open gearing with lubricants looks like it going to trap dust and stray grounds. Also, I also have concerns on pre-heat and how hot it can get…I found the Flair 58 not hot enough. And overall, it looks like a machine which solves a problem which does not exist. A lever works just fine.

Awesome looking machine, but I still think the Cafelat Robot wins in this space as it has the most minimal need for pre-heating, and if you do choose to pre-heat, it's easy to do with a cup or Thundies 3D printed thingo. I agree that this is primarily appealing as a conversation piece with a function.

I have to say, there IS something about it. I’d love to have it. It is gorgeous. If impractical. I’d also like to have an Aston Martin DB5. It is also gorgeous. If impractical. Like the car, it is something I would have for occasional (not daily driver) use, for its aesthetics, and “Sunday drive” type use. If I could afford it. And had the space for a second machine.

Would love to have it mostly as a decorative/novelty piece on my coffee shop bar. Just can't just justify yet the price

I get why some manual espresso makers can't properly fit a heating element in their tiny machines but this thing has no excuse. At this price (or many just a tiny bit more) they should have something that can pre-heat their brew chamber.
@kevaduАй бұрын
It's beautiful but it's $1600 for something less usable than a $600 Flair 58 (which has electric preheating)...
@jmeryllmanАй бұрын
How many of your house guests get entertained by watching a Flair 58? The M8 can be moved to the coffee table, no plugs attached, and be surrounded by house guests while you make espresso with an oil drill looking toy.

It is an artistic looking espresso machine. Although, I am not sure about how easy is to use it as a daily espresso machine for pulling four or five shots for a small family in the morning. Also, it looks like the machine takes considerably more amount of space than other manual espresso machines (i.e. Flair58) [?].

@Maxime-ho9ivАй бұрын
It should have a heater, and maybe even a water reservoir. That you have to preheat and fill this machine every time is completely absurd considering the look of the machine.
@jmeryllmanАй бұрын
I disagree. I don't want this attached to a plug. The fun part is to be able to move it around the house because I want to entertain people with it.
@rtist3386Ай бұрын
If I had the money and room I'd buy it. Espresso is a very basic hobby, it's really all about the gear and its over enginearing, this one fits the bill.

Every manual machine has to compare itself to the Flair 58. If it can't do more at the same or better cost, it's out.

It seems trickier to do a custom profile than a basic lever. It seems more about what they can get away with and less about practicality.

After many years using an E61 machine and grider I have asked for a Nepresso Vertuo for Christmas, when I don't feel like all the work envolved with an E61 machine. In other words I'm looking for easier ways to have a shot with less work. While these manual machines are interesting conversation pieces, they don't make better Espresso and as such would not be found on my Coffee Bar. Thanks for the interesting video, however.

Overengineered yes, overpriced, no. You probably hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that people would buy it for its looks, coolness and as a conversation piece alone. And I do think it does offer one advantage over a lever. For the older folks with arthritic joints, it's going to be a lot easier. Or is that just a me problem :( ?
