Purchased this recently and returned it for the heat loss on coffee alone. No hot plate and a dodgy kettle especially for scheduled brews was a big downside. Fellow's suggestion was to "preheat the kettle" which is a bit crazy and unrealistic most of the time. Let's see how v2 is.

Rinse hot water through the metal carafe before brewing...your coffee will keep it's brew temp. Do this all the time with my Technovorm.

Fellow (if you're reading): you had me until the flimsy plastic, finicky clickwheel, and non-functional app were revealed! I don't think I'd mind the issue with the cold carafe (I'd swish some hot tap water around in it to warm it up before starting the brew). Spro: thanks for yet another fantastic review! This one seems quite frustrating because they've laid all the groundwork for it to be an excellent premium brewer but they haven't done the final polish to make it into a truly premium product

Dear Imperial system lover, would you mind adding some text over the videos to show how much the very valuable Fahrenheit translate to the lower-level world-wide used Celcius system? Love ya

You reviewed both the Sculptor 064s and the df64v. I´m looking at one of those two to supplement my Niche Zero. Price wise they´re the same. I plan to put other burrs in and want to use them both for filter and espresso. My concerns come mostly down to burr-alignment and the longevity. For the df now in there 2nd gen and with EU-voltage supply, I heard stalling isn´t an issue. But alignment could be better on the 064s, right? I would use them mostly for light to medium roast, as I said to supplement the Niche. Would be nice to hear your or someone else´s experiences with one or best both of them. Ty!

get the df64v. The sculptor has bean retention issues. I had a 078 and ever 2-3 brews, one bean/fragment got stuck somewhere in the auger/grind chamber, and it was very difficult to knock down, resulting in varying retention. You are gonna regret getting the sculptor and no reviewers mention this as they don't use it long enough (I think maybe Hoffmann did)

I have an Aiden, overall I'm happy with it and the review is spot on. Most of the time I'm making espresso, but 3 days a week I commute to an office with a long early morning commute and was tired of doing a pour over. I found the machine to produce just about the same quality with the benefit I can schedule and have my brew ready so I can walk out the door before I hit the road. I'd say the carafe for a small batch is for sure a heat sink issue if it's going to sit for a while. They even recommend brewing single serve into their very well insulated move mug, probably for that reason. Overall though I'm quite happy with the machine so far.

7:05 they may have included a small basket knowing people who buy this will most likely have or buy their own 58mm basket. They gain margin by including a small cheap basket.

Mine (black with both burrs) arrived a few days ago 💪 My base is the same as yours but it’s stable. Issues I’m concerned about include: - if you take the face plate off every time to clean I think it will become loose and start falling off. I may leave the shot finisher tool outside the machine so I don’t need to take the faceplate off as much - scratching of the baseplate under the dosing cup. I think I’ll put clear contact over the plate or something on the bottom of the dosing cup - I wish the knocker was metal and not plastic

Is this a significant upgrade over the DF64 gen2 in terms of taste? Or would the DF83v be a better purchase?
@daveboyle8916Күн бұрын
The DF-54 grinder is really terrible. It needs to be cleaned very frequently because particles block the chute, causing the beans to be over-ground. As a result, consistency is nonexistent, and the grind setting constantly needs to be adjusted. I wish you had mentioned that :P

-No preheat is required -dont ramp 6 bar at the start -very gentle push until you see the espresso drops then press to 8-9 so easy and contestant results... this is why the robot is the best manual espresso machine i have now

Modified this recipe slightly. Instead of a 1:30 bloom I chose a 1:00 minute bloom, and also used about 95°C water. Bumped up extraction a bit but not so much to be muddy or over-extracted. Great results.

You mixer the coffee on the left more before measuring than the left. To be better you have to let the coffee sit until Segment is on the bottom and then take 2ml into the pipette, mix it only in the pipette, then measure it

"The meditative process of brewing espresso" Dude, just GTFO and stop nitpicking where there are no nits to pick. That's like saying you love falling asleep to the sound of coffee grinders. Brewing espresso is loud. Get over it. What a ridiculous thing to say.

I’m glad I went with lelit Bianca! I have a V2 going in 5 years now. I’ve serviced the machine myself with the help of KZbin. The only problem I have had outside of greasing the paddle and lever, and descaling is it was leaking water out of the drain under the group head. I did some research and replaced the anti vacuum valve for like $20 or $30 and she’s been working like a champ again. I have since learned that all I really needed to do was replace an o-ring in that valve, I still have the old one and put a new o-ring in it for the next time it fails. The fix was really easy to do with a screwdriver and a couple wrenches and only took a few minutes, it actually took longer to clear the machine off and open the top few screws then actually replacing the valve lol.

Discarding the bloom you are also lowering total caffeine content in the final cup. Caffeine and other very soluble compounds extract first and in my experience discarding the bloom brings more subtle, much less bitter and medicinal flavors. In the end, lowering caffeine content in the cup is desirable if you're after ultimate flavor purity. I've also found that even if you don't discard the tail of the brew, just by removing the bloom the cup is cleaner, lighter but clarity is also higher. Subtle notes shine through much clearer and you could even drink a whole mug without hurting your gut that much. It's very interesting and definitely worth a try.

I've been using puck screens on my cafe for almost 2 years now. I had to adjust my recipe a bit. Reducing brew time 2-3 seconds (grinding coarser) did the trick for me. As for the puck screens ; it's a win win situation. It keeps the machine cleaner, portafilter cleaner, and significantly reduces channeling, makes cup to cup difference minimal. The only downside is the barista's keep losing it all the time, they lose at least 10 per year but it's worth it since there are a lot cheaper but same quality alternatives on web.

Had mine for 5 or 6 years now. Finally decided to upgrade to an IMS brass shower block and upgraded shower screen. Not sure I notice too much of a difference, but and easy install. The factory rubber gasket never seemed to make a great seal, so I had to get a firmer one years back. Otherwise fairly easy to use and clean. This should hold me over until I'm ready to upgrade one day.

The moment you said "adjust the brew temperature" I got discouraged as my machine has pre-set values and it is already at the Max temperature. I might try a darker roast. Coffee is coming out too fast and I already changed the volume, tamper pressure and grinder values and it still flows too fast.
