great video Matt👍👍 Nice to see the lathe threading opposite way to normal, not many show that unless doing left hand threads, yours truly included.!!! I need a decent set of punches the ones i use are usually one off hand made or a cheapo far eastern set thats about as much use as a chocolate teapot, however they do eventually help me on my away when needed.🤣🤣👍👍 I'm on the look out for a decent set now and the adaptor is on my ever increasing lists of to do!🤔🤔 merry xmas🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅 atb Kev

Good idea to use the arbor press. After all, it's made to press things :)

Nicely done Matt. I like the idea of using the arbor press for wad punches, and I've only ever seen the simple wad punches, never a set like yours. Looks like a handy thing to have!

Nice! I acquired a Boehm punch set, I think it was made in France. Did similar, machined an adapter but made mine to fit in an impact press. Allows more control on cutting force than an arbor press when making quantity. My Boehm set can hold pairs of punches so didn't need a center pin. Your adapter is far more advanced than mine.

Interesting build. Many years ago we had a similar press in the shop that we used to assemble press fit knobs and shafts. We bored a 1/2" hole in the end of the ram an inch or so deep with tapped holes in the front for set screws. Then we could make simple tools that fit in the end and were held by the set screws. On the press we had the ram would work from either end so if needed we could turn the ram over to have a solid end to push with. Thanks for sharing, enjoy the season and all the best for the new year.

Two mods to consider for your arbor press: 1) Remove the crank arm and add a 1/2" or larger square drive hole for a ratchet. 2) Add a short crank wheel to the left side.

Good plan. Thanks!

And if you cut away two teeth at the top of the ram you can freewheel the gear to position the lever for desired leverage when needed (not his idea. he found it on Yt. 😜 editor)

Brilliant solution I reckon, incredibly satisfying spin when winding the chuck type part on, well done! 👏 But wait, the Hex broach... there lies witchcraft! Still can't get my head round that black magic! 🤯

Enjoyed the video, as always. I use a press to cut discs and washers from nitrile etc. I've found a toggle press to work so much better than the arbor press. 😊
