thanks for the video! I am a first-year PhD student at UCL, and I have been beating myself up over reading outside of my research area, even if I am reading fiction on the tube. it feels good to see someone reading different kinds of literature and talking about the counter-influences

I liked remembering those times when I’d be one of the few people attending class and then living on a prayer by whooshing through large pieces of text.

Hi Kaelyn! I just want to say that your videos are my inspiration to finish my major :). They are always so entreating and well structure that they help me in the moments I feel down in my own writing process. Academics like you are the onces that the world needs.

I started doing this a couple of weeks ago without know she did it too. I wanted to get inspiration from some of my favorite historians to liven up my mind and prose. I started reading The Poppy Wars a couple of months ago but I got distracted by my article and Phd applications. And congratulations on 100K! :)

I love videos like this and love RF Kuang - thanks for bringing her method to life! I think it's amazing when people are able to read and write so much. I recently finished Let Us Descend by Jesmyn Ward - have you read that one yet? Ward is such a fabulous writer. In this one, she shows the literal hell of slavery and we follow a young woman who claims her freedom despite the odds. It was incredible.

You've probably thought of this already, but it sounds like the reverse of Rebecca's writing routine would work best for you. That is to read in the afternoon or evening, mull over it overnight, then write in the morning. Thank you for a great video.

Love this video and this routine. Just a friendly comment- I thought the change in audio levels was a bit too dramatic. I listen on headphones and I had to turn the sound up to hear you speak but when it went back to music, it was really loud. I love your videos when I am doing data entry and other tasks, and this has never been an issue before. Just wanted to let you know. Overall, thanks for the great content.

@@KaelynGraceApple Are you manually typing your footnotes/references/bibliography?
@KaelynGraceApple
@KaelynGraceApple 21 күн бұрын
@@globescape4771 Yes, it is what I have done since I was in undergrad and while I have tried a reference management software, I do not find them to significantly reduce the tediousness of the process and have opted to just do them myself :)
@globescape4771
@globescape4771 21 күн бұрын
@@KaelynGraceApple I went through my entire coursework phase, field exam papers, and proposal phase, manually typing my footnotes and bibliography. It was not until I started writing my chapters that I used Zotero. I'm kicking myself why I didn't start using it earlier. None of my profs ever mentioned that such reference software even existed. I learned about it by following other academicians on social media.
