I'm working on my discussion chapter. So, when you share with us your writing and Ph.D. progress, I just love it because it makes me feel like there is someone who is struggling and feeling down just like me. Therefore, thank you so much for that.

What perfect timing for a video! I'm currently editing parts of a chapter from my dissertation for publication and was feeling a bit under the weather. This has given me the motivation I needed. Best of luck with your own projects!

Hey! I am a fellow phd student from India. Really inspired by these vlogs. What do you plan on doing after your PhD. Will you continue in history and academia?
@KaelynGraceApple9 ай бұрын
I hope to work at the intersection of education and technology :)

Hi Kaelyn, thank you for another lovely vlog. I had a question that I have been grappling with for a while. As I am developing my academic cv, I find it trickier to include social media activities, as I am not sure whether they are looked down upon or even seen as negative. In my case, I write online articles, often about my experience as a PhD student, sometimes about what I've been reading from within my field, and other random stuff such as novel reviews. This is all work and writing experience, and since I have no publications to my name yet I thought it wouldn't be bad to mention this. But academia can be so backward sometimes that I am not sure if I'd be shooting myself in the foot. So, my question is whether you would consider adding your youtube channel for instance to an academic cv. You do talk about your research and academic projects on your channel, so I could see it being relevant for an academic cv? Do you have any thoughts about this in general? Thank you, and I hope you are having a lovely and restful holiday break!

Hi Kaelyn, I love your videos, I've been watching for a couple of years now and love everything and really appreciate all your advice. I just wanted to ask if you'd changed your audio levels in editing recently? As a headphone user I've noticed the last few videos the portions where there's just music and no talking are louder than when you're speaking, and I've been having to turn down my volume at points in your video. You may not have changed anything, but I wanted to ask!
@KaelynGraceApple9 ай бұрын
I actually adjusted to made the music quieter but the speaking points are always quieter because of the mic I am using. I will keep this in mind while editing! I didn't notice it while watching through with headphones myself

HI Kaelyn, great video. It seems like you are juggling quite a few things. What percentage of your time do you think you spend on your graduate studies? I saw your other video on organising calendars. Do you try and enforce a weekly/monthly threshold for work on your PhD? I'm asking because next year I hope to start grad school so I'm trying to plan ahead.
@KaelynGraceApple9 ай бұрын
It varies week to week! But I try and commit a minimum of 40 hours a week to my dissertation and academic work (sometimes its more or less depending on the season and if I am traveling to archives)

Hi! New subscriber here, enjoying your content as an aspiring PhD student in the next couple years ❤ just wondered, are you living in London now while completing your doctorate at Yale? Is it part of your research journey?
@KaelynGraceApple9 ай бұрын
Yes! I have a research grant to do my field work and write my dissertation in the UK! Hoping not to go back to New Haven other than to check in with my committee

This video really helped, thank you. I’m in my fourth year of my “part time” PhD and I’ve been in such a slump. Seeing you so invigorated after uncovering a fresh approach just reminded me of that feeling!! It feels like I’m worlds away but I just had it by proxy from you and it’s shifted something. Thank you and good luck with the conference. 💫
