We should be getting our hands to test the Tundra i-Force MAX hybrid powertrain for a week to test very soon and we will be driving the new Toyota Sequoia out in Texas in about a month. Stay tuned for lots of new Toyota content coming up very soon! Lots of big changes are coming for this brand and we're obsessed with all the improvements.

Looking like i-force + brake boost will be just as fast as hybrid 0-60. Hybrid will just decrease your tow capacity cause of the added weight. But the hybrid will hold resale value better and theoretically more reliable since less work for the TTv6

I own a 2014 Tundra crew cab 4x4 with 5.7 which is one of the most reliable engines ever built, easily goes 300k with oil changes. Adding turbos just adds headaches and eventual failures. Definitely like the longer bed length but definitely not a fan of power plant. I’ll take the 5.7 with less fuel economy

That’s what a warranty is for and these new Tundras have that. Don’t forget even the 2007-2021 Tundras had the valve issues but it was covered under warranty. If it’s Toyota I guarantee it will last with proper maintenance intervals.

My family has a 2014 Tundra that we got brand new back in 2014. We’ve only put 65,000 miles on it so it’s not even close to broken in yet for Toyota truck that could easily go over 1 million miles. The interior and exterior of the new tundra is beautiful. They did a great job with the design of the interior and exterior. However, I knew it would happen, but I’m super sad to see the old 5.7 V8 go. I know it is slow and has really shitty gas mileage but like I said, it could easily do 1 million miles, it’s a loud old school naturally aspirated V8 that sounds amazing. The new twin-turbo V6 seems like a decent engine. But the horsepower is weak and the gas mileage is only like 3 MPG better with city driving. We plan on keeping our 2014 for many more years. Not worth the upgrade at all to us. Especially since it’s only driven in the city and never taken on road trips.

This power train has more HP and 20% more torque than the 5.7. I have driven both and the 3.5 TT is much stronger and the gas mileage is closer to 5mpg improvement on the highway.

Honestly after seeing this in person in the NY Auto show 2022, it's great on the looks but on the inside was very interesting. The infotainment is obviously a good system to use (no home screen though), the wood trim feels fake on the door panels (idk why) but on the dashboard it was fine. The seats are comfortable and the powertrain is pretty good. Is it better than the f150? I wasn't sure on those two trucks.

With all the changes and features that they have added/made to the Tundra, it's obvious that Toyota is trying everything they can do to reach ford F-150 customers, but they're a tough bunch to please... and i mean the customers of the Silverado/Sierra and Ram 1500, Tahoe / Yukon... all the big body on frame vehicles of the big 3...their customers are hard to please..

I agree. I am one of those ford fans. I owned a 14’ tundra for a while which was a good truck, however it was just not on the same level with the big 3. I have kept an eye on what the toyota was doing with the tundra and i am not a fan of this new gen. I don’t think there is anything toyota could do to compete with the big 3. I would spend money on an F series or a Ram anyday over what looks like a bigger tacoma.

I would stay far away from the new Tundra for the time being. They've been having problems left and right with the turbo waste gates going out on these things with only a couple hundred miles and the vehicles going into limp mode. I thought that was the only problem but after doing some research, they've been having problems with roofs leaking, transmission issues, electronic issues, door lock actuator failures, just to name a few. They should have stuck with what was tried and true. The limits especially of an ICE are only going to go so far and they had something that people bought before because it was bulletproof and not as complicated as this will be to work on.

This is why I love my 2020 Honda Civic K20C2. Port injection, so no carbon build up. Naturally aspired engine. No oil and gas mix up like the higher trims L15B7. And no idle start stop like the 2022 Civics have. This, and the 4L V6 in the 4Runner, are the type of engines that they would probably run better if you never bother changing the oil at all.

That's American-made for ya, the 2022 Toyota Tundra is Japanese in name only. It was designed by Americans and also assemble by Americans. So you can blame the typical poor American work ethics for all of those issues you mentioned.
@hellkitty1014

@@CumBrianFries that makes zero sense, due to the fact that the 07-21 Tundra was one of the most reliable vehicles sold in the US...and also built by those "lazy Americans" in San Antonio, Texas(as is the Toyota Camry being made in Kentucky, one of the most reliable vehicles on sale right now). If anything, the Toyota bosses in Japan decided to cheapen everything on this truck.

@@hellkitty1014 These Toyotas are also built in America. Avalon since 1995, Tacoma since 1995. Highlander since 2007. Most Toyotas on the road today in the US are also built here. Watch this KZbinr, The Car Care Nut. He’s a Toyota Master Tech and goes into great detail about the differences in Toyotas manufactured here versus in America and basically says there’s no difference quality wise.

I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again. This truck looks like an Oral-B toothbrush. GM siblings win, followed by Nissan Titan. Then again, this is my opinion.

Really improved? I have that 3.5/3.4 V6 in my 2014 Highland and had it in a 2011 RAV4 the last year they let that 3.5 in a RAV4. It Rocks a Highlander or a RAV4. Should be fine for their Farm Truck, Tundra! Sounds like with the 6’ bed you can’t close a garage door when it is inside!

Toyota builds great vehicles, but that Tundra is hideous on two fronts, the grill, and that ridiculous tablet on the center stack, check out the new GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, thats how you design a truck inside and out

I'm not a fan of the taillights. Lack of on demand AWD is a deal breaker. Toyota builds great vehicles but they're so slow to upgrade design, powertrain, and tech features. for instance my wife's 2016 GMC Terrain has wireless Apple Carplay. 2016 model.

The nose is hideous. I can’t bring myself to find anything attractive about its exterior. I thought Chevy’s 2500 HD was gross. This is just bizarre. Maybe get it in black to hide the mishmash of all of its ugly lines. But it’s relatable.

First off I wanna say that I really like your reviews However, this one was a little subpar Auto four-wheel-drive on a truck would be considered extreme luxury and it’s honestly pretty stupid and there are a lot of things that Toyota has to be careful of since they only sell a couple hundred thousand a year compared to the others who sell 5, 6 or 700,000 a year Next you can drive in full-time four-wheel-drive all day long every day if you want and it has nothing to do with hurting the truck until you turn on dry payment and that is all because of the differentials You will eventually do some damage Honestly if someone can’t handle turning four-wheel-drive on and off and maneuvering a truck they shouldn’t own one Beyond that you did pretty good with your review but keep in mind no matter what brand it is they all make good trucks and no one fell short because although we as consumers like to compare one to the other the whole reason they all exist is because they all offer something different and that’s what people want
