For those complaining about Nissan’s Xtronic CVT, the Murano is the vehicle to thank for that. While I still loved the old Murano, this new one looks really cool and the interior looks pretty nice too. My only problem is that I don’t think this will be enough to save Nissan. I don’t want Nissan to go away completely but they’re in trouble. Oh also I miss the 3.5L VQ V6, RIP.

The ZF9 speed is good. It just depends on how it’s programmed. The pilot had it since 2016 or 2017.

It’s not a bad transmission. I’ve heard people say it’s not good based on it not shifting well because of the dog clutch, but yes, the ZF 9-speed is a good transmission if it is programmed well. Honda and Acura definitely programmed it well in the later years, FCA/Stellantis programmed it horribly (felt super lethargic), idk how well it was programmed in the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, and Nissan definitely programmed it well in the Pathfinder. Again, not as good as ZF’s own 8-speed, or even their older 6-speeds but it’s not the worst transmission.

This is what Nissan should’ve been doing all along. I think they should keep the Altima hybridize it, radical redesign it. if they want other models of altimas with a 2.0 VC turbo hooked up with a nine speed or some other configuration, besides a CVT. I’d support that, give people options.

My only concern about this car is the Nissan variable compression turbo engine. I can't believe Nissan spent so much money developing a complex engine with questionable reliability that doesn't get better mileage or power than the V6. Had they just stuck with their old V6es they would now be distinct in the segment.

@ but the RX also uses 4 cylinders too The base turbo is a lot slower than the murano. Even the base hybrid is a lot slower. Who cares about fuel efficiency at this point? If you want to barely beat the murano in performance you have to get the 450h+ which starts at over 70k and you don’t get any more power. You only get 300hp. The 500h is quicker yes but is it $20-25K quicker? Not so sure about that

I saw these testing around in Quebec City last winter !! It's cool to finally see exactly what that mysterious car was, I was sure it was a Nissan (the logo's general shape was close enough) but it seemed so large and had such a different shape that I couldn't ever be sure

The first generation was a revolution, the 2nd generation went down hill in to a uninspired mini van, this generation leap forward to where the first left off and would have been above, but a 2.0 4 cylinder is under powered, even with the turbo, the interior is fantastic, but time will tell, what will be the major setback for this car.

the design is dope, the front however they should have used the japanese concept design instead, but they knocked it out the park on the inside and rear. Super hype they ditched the CVT. However, a hybrid version with this motor would make more sense since the gas numbers are slightly worst with this new motor. They should just used the pathfinder 3.5 getting 284hp which would have been a 24hp increase, and the gas numbers would have probably been the same if not better, same direction they should have done with the infiniti QX60 to warrant almost 60k price tag. I dont see this lasting too long either but hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Sorry agree with the interior upgrades but for over $40k I get a turbo inline 4 cylinder? What will the longevity be? Judging by what is already out from all automakers in terms of powerplant and transmission matings I cannot see shelling out that kind of cash for an ICE platform at this point.

Nissan continues to make bland style cars, the exterior looks ok but its not a hint of anything to expect. when you first open the door, the 2 tone leather looks tacky, the plastics look hard and the steering wheel is very unusual, like no thought was put in to the interior ergonomics of the car. The Murano should have been the chance to listen to the customers of the previous generations, provide us with a revised transmission (NO CVT) good horse power that can take on many of the rival, since they have not improved on the MPG. OVerall they gave us a bland tasting crossover. Honestly the Hyundai lineup looks a lot more convincing from every aspect than the Murano. too many negatives at this point for Nissan to put out another car that is no longer selling. If anything maybe it was time to get rid of the Murano and give us something totally new. Their current line up will only bring Nissan down to their knees. they hardly can get buy on the little they sell in America. bad decision from the engineers and marketing team, lets see if Nissan lives to tell the story in 2025 and good luck with the murano.

Why so expensive? Front looks like Frog mating with a Hyundai so definitely nothing sexy or pretty. steering wheel is hideous, overall shape is not good looking . No CVT is a good direction.
