Just in terms of dialogue and acting, that scene with the security officer and his commander dressing him down and putting him in his place is maybe the best written and most sophisticated scene of any Star Wars media I've ever seen. Very smart and snappy back and forth, completely engaging and it says so much about this world without spelling anything out. And in general, I've never seen such fleshed out minor characters in an SW show or movie. Even characters with very little dialogue feel like real people in a real world. Really digging this, I think it's already my favorite SW series.

I am almost done watching the 3rd episode on Disney Plus now and the story picks up pretty well for Cassian, Luthen and the rest of the characters. I love how they juxtapose Cassian's backstory to the present time with adult Cassian. The young actor playing Cassian in the flashbacks was picked by Diego and learnt how to speak English while filming this series. Diego mentored him.

The first three episodes are absolutely amazing. The most mature and grounded piece of film in Star Wars history. These characters have a much wider range of emotion than ever before too. There's a serious sense of fear lurking in every scene. Being discovered by the Empire or those corporate police actually feels terrifying this time, instead of just a minor inconvenience like other films or TV iterations. I have a feeling the Rebellion is actually going to feel like an actually risky and morally ambiguous uprising in this series, rather than just "the good guys". I'll say it now: This series might shape up to be the best iteration of Star Wars on film ever. Feels like the exact kind of thing I've been waiting for since I was young. The potential for this series just went way, way up.

This first episode of Andor was incredible! It felt like no other Star Wars show, it’s tone was so unique and dreary which I think fits this era and this character so perfectly. Not to mention just how visually pleasing this show looks too, it feels like such a lived in world and the color scheme really matches with the dreary kind of tone. And from just these first three episodes I am already loving the story that they are going with for the show and how everything is such a slow burn which really gives you a lot of time to feel the relationships between the characters and gives the audience enough time to truly feel connected to them. And from just his first scene alone, I already loved B2EMO.

This first episode really gives me hope that this is going to be the dark, gritty series I've been hoping it will be. It is obviously gonna have some levity and humor to it, but they don't seem to be doing it at the expense of the atmosphere. Not translating the Kenari is an interesting choice, but somehow we can still tell what they are saying. Additionally the sets look great so far, this world legitimately feels lived in.

I can see how it might not be for everyone. It's a slow burn, but it's wonderfully tense and bleak, you can feel it building over the 3 episodes. Interestingly, for both Kenobi and BOBF I found the first episodes to be the strongest - I'm fine with that kind of slow moving, character study type thing. (I get why for BoBF some people just weren't into that, but I would have been fine if they had actually spent more time with the Tuskens). The middle episodes/pacing in both series were a bit of a slump for me and had similar rushed pacing/plotting issues imo, and I enjoyed the finales. I still really liked both of them, but I agree this just feels much different, although I think that is in part because I have really no expectations and they have a lot more freedom to really play around in a new part of the galaxy away from Tatooine and the Skywalker legacy baggage (I love all that stuff, but it does also carry a lot of...responsibility). I was really excited for this show as soon as they announced it years ago and was surprised to see how many people were complaining about it, so I am glad to see that so far it's gotten a pretty good reception. (To me the point was never really Andor himself, but just the whole milieu he came from.)

Dog Garnit ! What a start ! Same as Greg, when they announced this series like, a couple of years ago, after the success of the Mandalorian and announcing Book of Boba Fett, by fan favorite Robert Rodriguez, Obiwan, by Mandalorian celebrated alumni Deborah Chow, and Andor by Tony Gilroy, I was super pumped for the other 2, and was like ... WTF ? do we need a backstory for one of the least likeable characters of the otherwise great Rogue One who ends up dying in it anyway ? I mean, you wanna make a prequel about memorable characters in Rogue One, give me Donnie Yen's character Chimrut ! Fast forward 2 years later, and oh boy ! How the tables have turned !? Book of Boba was such a hit and miss, Obiwan was just such a big wet fart... And Andor grab you by the balls right from the get go and tightens its grip all along the ride ! Compared to these 2 other series, Andor almost feels like comparing House of the Dragon level of quality to She Hulk ! This show is so embarrasingly good and grounded compared to the other 2 (and even the rest of star Wars) that it almost feels like it's in a completely different universe altogether, far removed from Star Wars. The very beginning do feel a lot like a mix between Tron Legacy and Blade Runner, not exactly bad influences if you wanna play into scifi. Only need some Akira in it and it would have been the perfect mix (although Obiwan did that for episode 2, to little effect other than stylistic). Cautiously optimistic about this series, since the other aforementioned series also started with a strong opening, but I got the feeling we're into good hands, here. Super pumped to see how this goes out. PS : Also props to the music ! I've never heard of Nicolas Britel before, but like Ludwig Goransson before him on the Mandalorian, he managed to create a whole musical universe with its own identity within the Star Wars franchise, and after the disappointment from Natalie Hoult on Obiwan (after she managed a formidably memorable soundtrack on Loki, so Obiwan's soundtrack was kinda a letdown), that feat is extremely commendable and welcome !
