I amazing how this movie is able to shift from hilarious to heartfelt and back again and still have it all feel natural. Sad how the sequels decided to take a more comedic approach (which weren't even funny) while the first movie was genuinely heartfelt.

This movie is so funny and heartwarming, and a total love letter to the Universal Monsterverse. Everyone's voice performance in this is very good. Especially Dracula, able to go from hilarious to heartfelt in an instant.

As someone who worked at the front desk of hotels for almost 20 years, the scene where all the monsters are yelling at the poor zombii at the front desk after everyone knew jonathan was a human - I can relate hahaha

They didn't understand that in that universe Zing is considered pretty much binding. It is not something that can be socially reengineered and ignored. Magic is the thing in the universe.

Jonathan is a character that had the potential to be extremely annoying, granted he was mildly annoying to me personally, he had a childlike sense of wonder and charm that made him relatable.

I love the fact that this is a very kinetic movie. There are very few scenes where things are completely still, yet it doesn't feel cluttered or overly busy. They hit the sweet spot.

I always thought that it depends on what kind of garlic products he consumes. Like garlic oil makes him gassy and garlic cloves or powder makes his throat swell. Does that make sense? It's just a headcanon I thought of.

I still remember when I first watched this. I was in kindergarten when this came out and my elementary school had move nights several times a year. I distinctly remember sitting in that gym eating popcorn with all my new friends while we were all in our sleeping bags. This movie always reminds me of simpler times.

Also I’ll never get over how many people thirsted after the invisible man and then when they found out what he looks like when not invisible they were horrified because he wasn’t hot 💀 Like that shit had me gasping for air I was laughing so hard 😂

Though aging single guys, like myself, may not be the target audience of Hotel Transylvania - the series still appeals to the boyish and creative side of me - and remains one of my Tartakovsky favorites. - With current days sensibilities, when comes to relationships portrayed in movies and series - animated or otherwise - I dare say the 'old approach' should not be entirely dismissed. Though not something one should pursue exclusively, it should still not be considered less aspirational. Even I if I have had less success relationship wise, I still believe the 'love at first sight' trope occasionally has its merit in family entertainment. After all - Love at first sight - does not always mean the first person you encounter, but - the first time you encounter 'someone special'.
