You can't label something Lord Of The Rings if it doesn't live up to the standards of the first three movies. Amazon doesn't understand this. It has to be about story and if it's beloved content, you have to stick to the lore. People are tired of activist taking over beloved intellectual property to push an agenda. You liked these movies because of the story, cinematography, costumes, music, set design, actors, writing, vfx, special effects. All professionals at the top of their game. I promise, if the story is good, it doesn't matter the skin tone or gender of the characters. Stick to the original lore and don't use it as a vehicle for an agenda. Story must come first. Students learn this in film school but that knowledge is abandoned once they get to Hollywood.

From all the hundreds of reactions I´ve watched, regarding this trilogy was this the most facile and shallow one EVER. The most important thing seems to be that Aaragorn was hot! So guys stop wasting your time explainig things to these chicks, they won´t get it anyway. The thoughts they gave us about King Theoden after all of his loss and how coward he is a perfect example. Your homies would be glad to be as half of a man Theoden was!!! They did not even realize till the end that Eowyn was not his daughter!!! What a waste of time........

@@matthiasschlee3402 They actually loved the trilogy. It's a long movie, give them a break. Also, her thoughts on Aaragorn's relationship were the same as mine the first time I saw this movie. I did not want the new girl to break up the couple. You are a little harsh on the hosts. I think they are building up to Rings Of Power. I do not recommend they waste their time on it because it's not worth the negative comments to come. LOTR fans do not like deviations from the lore.

After the ring was destroyed: Frodo left Middle Earth, so that he may be fully healed. He was still able to feel the wound on his arm from the sword at the beginning, plus for being the ring-bearer and it nearly consuming him like it did Gollum. Aragorn returned Gondor to it's former glory, and ruled happily with Arwen for 120 years. He had one son and two daughters. When his time drew near, he chose to take command of his own end. We laid in the House of the Kings in Minas Tirith with Gondor's past rulers and drifted into eternal sleep. Arwen passed one year later. Gimli became the Lord of the Glittering Caves under Helm's Deep, as it was rich with Mithril. He kept his word to Galadriel, and encased the strands of hair within glass and treasured it. Legolas restored the woodlands of Middle-Earth that were ravaged by the war, along with adventuring with Gimli. After Aragorn's death, Legolas made a ship of his own in Ithilien, and left Middle-Earth to cross the sea to reunite with the rest of the elves in the Undying Lands. Gimli crossed the sea with Legolas, due to his close friendship with the elf, and was the only dwarf that was offered that honor. Samwise married Rosie and had 13 children. He was also elected Mayor of the Shire for seven consecutive seven-year terms (49 years.) Afterwards, Sam was given passage to the Undying Lands to reunite with Frodo, as Samwise was also a Ring-Bearer, even for a short time. Pippin became the 32nd Thane of the Shire, and held that position for 50 years. He had one son named Faramir Took I, who later married Sam's daughter. After he retired as Thane, he left with Rohan and Gondor with Merry. He remained there for the rest of his life, and was entombed in the Hall of the Kings, and later moved to be laid to rest alongside Aragorn. Merry was knighted by King Eomer and become Master of Buckland. He married, and wrote a book. He had at least one son. At 102, he returned to Rohan and Gondor with Pippin, dying around the same time as Pippin. He was laid to rest in Gondor with Pippin, and later moved alongside Aragorn.

Let’s be real though. The scene is iconic, yes, but it has absolutely nothing to do with his speech at the beginning. I suggest any of you watch that scene WITHOUT the music and then tell me that it’s iconic, or without Eowyn and Merry and then tell me the scene is iconic, it just wouldn’t be. His speech is extremely short and quite repetitive to his speech from the last film. Now as for the fact of him being a “bad king”, that is genuinely up for debate. He did put his people into WAY more harm than necessary by moving them to Helm’s Deep and then NOT SENDING for his nephew and crew. He also had many of the elves, who came to help him, killed with this mistake. He also, after making this mistake, then genuinely had to think about going to assist his own allies- which is WILD. There were many points in the 2nd film that he did not step up, and even some in this film. Was he a good king in the end, sure. I just genuinely wonder if everyone would think he was such an “amazing king” if he had survived. My guess is that the answer would be very, very split.

The issue is also that Tara and Roxy completely dismiss that Theoden is the king of Rohan so while in Rohan he literally rules. They made up their minds when Aragorn criticized Theoden publicly and Theoden told him off. That is why they missed the shift in the relationship of Theoden and Aragorn. Even if we only take the movies into account, until they enter Edoras, Aragorn has only proven his knowledge about fighting Orcs (and other creatures) and surviving in the wilderness; he only had two leadership moments: after Moria when he just had to spur the fellowship on until they reached Lothlorien and when he made Gimli and Legolas track down Merry and Pippin. But both show him as a military type leader, not a civil leader figure. So in Edoras we learn that Aragorn has a strong opinion about what Theoden should be doing but Theoden has to be the one thinking about all of his population and not just those who can fight. He cannot take the fight to Saruman who would be undefeatable in Isengard and he cannot bring all his riders to Gonder and leave the civiliians behind in Rohan. So Theoden is actually right but admittedly a bit cocky about the fortress of Helm's Deep. So when that is going, he looses his hope. And that is when Aragorn is actually mirroring several things Theoden said before about leading his people. So what the two lovely ladies actually missed is Aragorn learning how to be a ruler from Theoden.

I had a friend tell me that the scene at the bar was relatable for him when he came back from Iraq. He and his buddies went out for a drink and it was surreal for them to see how things are back home vs what they saw in war. I feel like that's probably what was meant in that scene.
@MisterAnonymous10005 күн бұрын
I do believe that was the intention behind the scene. The Author, J.R.R. Tolkien was a WW1 Veteran. He experienced it firsthand and was able to capture it in his book. @@MisterAnonymous1000 In the book, their return was entirely different. The Shire had been devastated (similarly to Frodo's vision in the first movie): the four hobbits returned from war and immediately set to work rebuilding their land - this was the experience of British veterans after both WW1 and WW2. The movies change this, and are a reflection of more recent conflicts, esp the American experience of fighting wars at arm's length.

Tbf, in Tolkien's mind, not wanting to be king is exactly the characteristic that makes you a good king. Tolkien was a staunch believer that power corrupts and that no one was fit to rule other men, least of all the man who seeks the opportunity.
@susannariera5 күн бұрын
@@henriknobinder7395 I agree, and I'm not saying Aragorn is not a good king, we know he is, but so was Theoden before he was possessed, his son died, nobody helped him or his people and he was also a good king after that, just a traumatized one who only wanted his people to be safe. There's also a reason why Dénethor is how he is and why Boromir wanted the ring so badly and didn't trust Aragorn at first...and Aragorn is partly at fault for that. As I said, I love Aragorn, but the way they were worshipping him while dismissing Theoden was too much to me. (Sorry if the comment is confusing or not clear enough, English is my third language).

The Reel Rejects, with all due respect, allow me to share some thoughts on reactions. Much like we distinguish between good and bad writing-where good writing allows viewers to interpret events through actions and subtlety, trusting the audience to grasp the narrative through emotion, while bad writing spoon-feeds every detail-the same principle applies to reactions. For example, when Roxy comments, “I wonder what Gandolf’s staff is doing,” it’s a moment that falls into the latter category. The visual context clearly shows the staff emitting a blinding light that repels the dragon-like creatures. It’s right there in the scene. Instead of narrating the obvious, it would be far more engaging to hear how that moment made you feel. A reaction should enhance the viewing experience, not over-explain it. Even Tara’s response, stating what was apparent to everyone-“It’s making the dragon things go away”-highlights the issue. If you reduce these kinds of overly literal observations, the reaction would flow more naturally and feel more authentic. Let the film speak for itself, and focus on conveying genuine emotional engagement. It will elevate the reaction and make it more enjoyable for the audience.
@davidholloway18174 күн бұрын
I agree. Furthemore, their insistence on giving this literal commentary, or jumping to wild, baseless conclusions, often drowned out some stunning scene or dialog. I suspect this is why they missed the point so many times & couldn't remember names, places or character motivations, etc. They also need to learn the difference between reacting & being reactionary.

Theoden is probably the 3rd strongest character in the movies (Frodo, first and Sam, second). He has had the most responsibility for the longest time, while dealing with despair, manipulation and doubt and getting nearly no help from anyone outside of the walls of his own kingdom. He is a good man, doing whatever he can to keep his people safe. In regard to Elrond and Arwen's relationship...even when a woman grows up, her father will always have the same age difference as the day when she was born. And there is an instinctual drive in a good father to always guide, influence and protect her against the evils of the world. It's not as if some random person was telling her what to do. It was HER FATHER. That bond is never broken. Ever. Denathor, like Theoden, was also in the depths of despair due to his wife passing. Though he succumbed to that ill-fate, like many people. It is easier to give in, than to "soldier on".

His loss is one of the biggest of the films. It always is a gut punch when people misinterpret him during reactions. Theoden is a truly good man.
@sarahsupasweet5 күн бұрын
And to be specific, I love these 2 girls. Yes I'm very upset about how they truly misinterpreted Theoden, and the dislike they showed towards him, as well as simply confused about it. But I also DO appreciate that at his death they did show him kindness and at least see his goodness even if they confused it with redemption from bad to good. There is some redemption to Theoden's story, but not in regards to someone who's a crappy person finally doing what's right. And I wanted to point out that the rude comments are welcome. Roxy and Tara are wonderful and they are being themselves. Don't make people feel bad for being themselves. Aside from just a couple really obvious things that actually made me do a double take, there's just so much in these movies. It's not easy for everyone to catch everything and remember everything. And even someone who's good at that might have a hard time with films like these. It can be hard sometimes with just one regular length film. It's okay if they don't catch everything and it's okay if they forget things. They're experiencing 3 of the best films ever made, one of the best trilogies ever made. Let them enjoy it and just experience it how they want and be themselves while they do. And we all know that anything in life, including movies, can become something much bigger and important than what they are. A movie is not just a movie but something you enjoyed with family or friends, people who are maybe gone now, etc. It can be something that was special to you, to others in your life, and was a regular part of your life(lives) and thus it became special. A movie can be something that helped you through a hard time. And then there's all of the people and work that goes into the film, the Fandom, community, etc. Those things can bring deeper meaning to someone as well. So films can be much more than just films. They can be a light in the dark, inspiration, motivation, emotional awakenings, help you to find your passion in life, etc. And so I understand how serious people can get when other people don't meet the expectations to something that monumental to them. This is the only reason why the Theoden aspect of their reactions was upsetting to me. It's not the end of the world for sure but for many of us his character and story is a very special and emotional one of the series. As he is a genuinely kind and pure person. Not perfect, just human. And to see that so misinterpreted is a confusing and hard thing to sit through. But there's never a need to be rude. And who knows, they might hopefully do a rewatch(rewatches) and learn more and understand more. I caught most of the main stuff my first time watching but there were small things I learned along the way after when I rewatched them many times. So give them a break.

It’s important I mention, there’s been a lot of discontent to borderline vitriol for the gals based on this. I get the appreciation for Theo from fans but it seems a lot of us forget that the first few years after the movies his character was borderline despised. Faromir’s tears in his eyes, as his dad tells him he wishes it was him who died gets me. Fantastic acting -I still can’t believe Stuart Townsend was ever cast in this bc I can’t imagine anyone other than Viggo

You can't imagine anyone other than him because that's who was cast, if it was Townsend, you'd be saying exactly the same thing.

Watching the equivalent of a drunk valley girl ignorantly sht on a universally beloved character because she has the analytical skills of a 3rd grader is almost unbearable.

When she says the crownless shall again be king she's talking about Aragorn. He's the heir of Isildur.

Theoden was a great king until the end, always taking responsibility for defending his people. A king who learned from his mistakes and was always there when needed. Sam, Theoden, Boromir, Faramir and so many others deserve due respect and recognition. This time I preferred to watch it on KZbin, it was better than putting up with three hours of ass-kissing. I'm not going to lie and say that Aragorn is a bad character, he's actually one of the best characters in this franchise. But, insulting other characters, just because you are attracted to an actor takes away all critical sense and ruins any experience.
@GuilhermeHenrique-zt7rb5 күн бұрын
Look, I was a little uncomfortable during the video and it really ruined the experience a bit. I don't see a problem in having a favorite character, Aragorn is a close second and Sam will always be my favorite, but I learned something called character development. Imagine if everyone decided to destroy Iron Man before the end of his development? It took years to build the character from a flawed, arrogant and possessive man into a great hero, savior of the multiverse.

I haven't seen many reactions to LOTR that I haven't enjoyed! Except now. 😅 Nothing against the ladies...it just seems like they missed so much about the story, the characters, etc. Alas, it's all subjective. 😊

I have quite the sob story about this movie. This was my dad's favorite movie and some time between 2005-2007, we watched it and I sung along to the end credits song "Into The West". I merely sang it for fun, but my dad loved how I sang it that he immediately made me promise to sing it on the day of his funeral. He passed away 7 and a half years ago and I sang the song at his funeral even though my singing voice was not what it used to be. And ever since, I made a vow to myself to watch the whole trilogy on my dad's birthday to remember him and sing along to Into The West at the end as a way of getting whatever baggage I have out of my system.

Don’t compare Théodan to Denathor. One’s a good king and one’s an insane Steward. That pissed me off.
@nancyhayes99585 күн бұрын
I might not watch this reaction if they’re trashing Theoden. I think the entire reason Jackson nerfed Denethor so much was to be a contrast to Theoden. Both men lost were mind-f***** by evil influences. Denethor despaired and lost everything, even his sanity. Even when Theoden was at his “weakest” he tried to save his people and he led his soldiers. He had a of despair and doubt, but he yanked himself out of it and led the Rohirrim in a battle that helped turn the tide of the war. He was an outstanding king, and his father's will be proud to have his spirit among theirs. (End rant)

I love this channel and its reactors but Roxy’s smugness over Legolas’s “a diversion”…Roxy: “we didn’t need that line” ummm girl put your smugness away. You misunderstood and got confused over SO MANY clear as day moments in this trilogy that I 100% believe the ONLY lines you need are the ones that spell it out so clearly that even YOU couldn’t miss the meaning. 😅😂
