looks wise the new one is nicer, performace wise they are nearly identical. If you find them for the same price you can't go wrong. I'm going to pick up a few of the newer ones.

About the spool weight; its looks like the new spool has four holes in center. In old spool is maybe six?

I own the older model and its a great reel for the price. Just spend a little more and get the curado mgl its much smoother

I found 3 xt’s on Mercari for less than $180, and started tournament fishing with them part time, I love these reels!

@@jae-gw6tl yeah, I’ve also got 2 Curado dc’s one needed a main gear but he warned me, and got that one dirt cheap, ordered the gear from shimano and it’s been working perfectly

This is the reel that I recommend to everyone. Agree that it's a lazy upgrade, but it's still the same price. I'm going to keep recommending it! Best bang for the buck. Oh, i like the looks of the old one better, but that wouldn't effect my buying decision.

I disagree, if you're getting a reel just save your money for Curado DC, or if you want to splurge get an Antares DC. I made the mistake of buying a cheaper reel and spent hundreds trying to get the best.

@@MrRednexus I said everyone, but I don't really mean everyone. I have several Curados, and I agree they're better. I fish with a lot of guys throwing ugly stick combos from Walmart. They're not going to spend $200 on a reel, but I may get them convinced that $130 is worth the splurge. Especially if they wait for a sale, this reel is closer to $100. You're not wrong though. If you have the money go Curado.
