The podium came out beautifully - it has a clean, classic and simple look that should certainly stand the test of time. Once concern I'd have is that often a speaker will lean on their forearms when at a podium. With those casters underneath, there is a real risk of the podium taking off unexpectedly. A pair of locking casters at the back of the podium would allow the podium to be held in place. You would need to remove the rear base trim to allow access - but it wouldn't be visible from the front and would allow you to keep that "gliding on air" look. Take care and God Bless.

That’s good to hear. Apparently up until this point they had some cheap rickety plywood glued together for their stand in 🫣

Today, people are far more likely to be using a laptop than paper at a podium, or if they have paper, are likely to be working in dimmed lighting. Either way you need power. I would have put some wiring in the podium. The ultimate setup would be a panel down near the base that has a network, HDMI, and power (make it accept a standard computer cable), then at the top have a panel that has network, HDMI, 110v, and USB. It's sometimes useful to have audio as well (XLR and/or 1/4" or 1/8" jacks (and possibly a mount for a mic gooseneck). I would also consider embedding a wireless charging puck or two in the top. Some podiums have some LED lights, either embedded in the back of the front rail, or on a gooseneck. USB standards change over time, so bonus points if it's done in such a way that it can be upgraded without having to replace other wiring, but even just having a combo 110v/USB wall outlet mounted in the top will remain useful for years (and easy to change out if it gets damaged) With wiring, you then want a compartment to hold the jumper wires. I would do that as a removable panel in the top (using the dead space at the top front of the podium). Such a compartment can also hold remote controls for room facilities. some people just install a power strip, which is better than nothing (and you then need holes through the shelves for wiring), but the fixed wire gets in the way when moving the podium and the wire therefor gets damaged over time. Which is why I suggest a detachable cable that uses a common computer power cord. But a male plug that you can just plug the end of an extension cord into also works well.

If they had paid me to do all of that I would’ve! 🙌🏼

@@TheReformationWoodshop you do what the customer asks, no dispute there. But your question was what else would I do, so I answered 😛

@@TheReformationWoodshop lol, I'm sure you didn't. And wasn't making fun of you, just teasing as I like playing with words too. Just happened to be cherry you were using, lol And you have kids, and as such are allowed to make dad jokes (as technically any joke you make is one, lol) But what's my excuse? I'm a 38 y/o single man, and I do 😩😂
