For 38 years I have been a school Custodian and cleaned toilets and classrooms. This has not stopped me from being able to minister the gospel everyday and everywhere I go. I love the fact that I never have to ask for support and pay for all my mission work with money from my job. It feels squeaky clean like my cleaned toilets. I do agree with fully supported missions but boy oh boy there should be serous accountability. Thank you for not shying away from the balls and strikes.

Hi @KatherineMarialke - thanks for speaking out. That would be a huge deal. I cannot express my gratitude for your voice. However, Remnant Radio are also abusers of God's flock and not afraid to platform predators and abusers. While hirelings run from the wolves, harlots platform the wolves at the expense of the sheep and get "drunk on the blood of the saints" gaining the whole world and losing their souls. Remnant Radio are not just the harlot, the play the harlot. I've watched them naturally do this since they started. It has been shameful watching them abuse their authority at the expense of the sheep. They continually platform predators and ignore Christians warning them about platforming abusers. So they publicly display rebellion. They ignore the bible and Christian voices to further their own slick image.

Yes I agree, I was a bit disappointed by Michael Miller downplaying the woman's role in this inappropriate relationship. She was an adult and still has to follow the word of God. The disciples wouldn't have been excused if they had listened to the religious leaders when they told them to stop preaching about Jesus. The religious leaders had authority over them but Peter's answer was perfect. Who do we listen to, God or man? If God says to be pure and abstain from sexual immorality, then the woman in this case either needed to leave the church or stop hanging around Michael Brown. That doesn't mean he didn't take advantage of her (if the allegations are true) but both are culpable.
@abeautifulmoment2714
@abeautifulmoment2714 20 күн бұрын
I think in most situations the woman is culpable as well. Not to the same level the pastor is - and I want to make that clear. However, in some extremely fundamentalist environments, extreme submission on the part of women is a cultural factor to be taken into account. A woman raised with no sense of agency, an unhealthy fear and reverence of authority, and an extreme distrust of herself as easily deceived could be confused enough to distort reality, and wouldn't be culpable. I have seen this a lot - there is an extreme fundamentalist church in our town where this situation pops up frequently. I think often we want things to be black and white (its either sin or its not), but our fallen world requires wisdom and discernment to really address these situations honestly. It's very difficult.

Regarding a woman sleeping with her pastor: I think it’s a case-by-case situation as to how culpable she might be. There’s going to be some women who chase a man because he’s a minor celebrity, which would make her just as culpable. What happened with Brown (according to both the victim and other witnesses) was NOT an affair of any sort, it was workplace sexual harassment and grooming. As Miller said, the power dynamics make it more difficult for the woman to say no, not only because that man is an authority figure, but also because he’s controlling her income and future work opportunities. If he gets enraged because she tells him to back off, she loses her job, her community, her ability to get another job somewhere else, and possibly her reputation. It’s livelihood assassination that she’s facing. Under those circumstances, any “consent” has been given under duress.

I have been barred from attending a NAR church because I raised some concerns about some disturbing issues. One of those issues concerned how the eldership dealt with a lifegroup leader and his wife because they expressed concern over what was happening in the church. The decision was made without him being present. He was told never to return to the church. He wasn't even allowed to say good-bye. This was done over the phone when he was at work. There was no provision to challenge the decision. The senior's pastor was law. If I repent I can return. As I didn't do anything to repent of that is not going to happen. I don't even want to.

What Jimmy Evans declared to Suzy Lamb was unconscionable and abusive. To tell her to violate her conscience is revealing of problems in his character. The fact he deemed Doug was biblical in divorcing his wife and free to marry Joni shows another big problem. He never met with Lisa Weiss. He obviously wanted to please Joni more than do due diligence in investigating Doug Weiss and the marriage. Apparently there have been problems with Doug throughout all his years of training and ministry. Then to hear Doug “go off” on Jonathan was revealing of character problems. What a mess. All that to say, Jimmy, in my opinion, should repent and step out long enough to get a big reset in doctrine and practice by other ministers who have their heads on straight.

First, let me say a big THANK YOU to each of you for bringing light to a much needed address. This is the first time I have discovered your podcast by suggestion from a friend due to the topic, specifically C.R. I have been following MSM for decades and was attending regularly with my family when this all happened. Like many others, we stopped going to MSM as a result of the whole ordeal. I just wanted to add specific attention to ya'lls conversation. In the midst of these scandles, people often forget the effect they have on the congregation. So many are left in the aftermath hurting, devastated and greived by all of it. To a degree, we also feel victimized. Like those directly involved, we have also trusted our elders and leaders to make wise biblical decisions on our behalf, to discern issues and situations thereby protecting our best interests. Just a few weeks following this travesty is when the final straw was broken for me where in the congregation was informed by the CEO that if we wanted to leave because of everything then to just do it because we are "just taking someone elses seat" if that was the case. I have been so effected by what happened and how it was all handled that I have yet to attend another church. Personally, I felt like I have gone through a divorce. Lastly, I am dumbfounded as to how everyone involved could just start over so quickly or continue ministering like there wasn't a complete disaster left behind. Clearly, I have alot of healing to succumb. But this is my point, I am not alone. By the grace of God in time, He will bring healing to all those effected. Thank ya'll again for doing what you're doing here and remember this, "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken..Ecc 4:12 " I encourage you three to remain steadfast one to another. 🕊

So thankful you’re addressing these things with Biblical standards and a right spirit. It would be tremendously helpful if you would do a program addressing what Biblically qualifies as gossip, unrighteous forms of judging, and dishonoring authority vs. when we’re called to speak about these kinds of things to expose darkness, make righteous judgments, rebuke publicly in the sight of all, hold people/leaders accountable and even mark and avoid - and the right spirit to approach these matters. While we definitely need a proper fear of the Lord about not participating in or promoting any corrupt communication, it seems much of the church may be failing to follow godly guidelines in these areas of holding people/leaders accountable bc there has been imbalanced teaching that keeps people silent (as you’ve mentioned - touch not the Lord’s anointed, etc). Many people are erring on both ends of the spectrum (whether saying wrong things or right things in wrong ways AND on the opposite end staying silent and covering things) and we need godly balanced Biblical teaching to understand what’s appropriate and acceptable Scripturally for the church to avoid both sins of commission and omission in these areas.

The “national stage” destroys people. It’s not that no sin exists on the local level, but that an overwhelming desire for an audience that spans the country ruins almost everyone who reaches for it. Maybe it’s impossible to stay humble when everyone knows your name and wants your ear, but then humility may be the single most lacking virtue in our country, whether it’s lacking in unbelievers or believers.

Appreciated Josh Lewis' balance at roughly the 50:00 mark even though Miller and Rountree struggled in processing it. I am personally acquainted with such a situation: a person was sexually assaulted as a child by a family friend, but the perpetrator managed to conceal it. Decades later the victim revealed it to family and friends, and all of them (from what I was able to investigate) were apologetic and supportive. Problem was, at this point it had provoked a spiraling mental health crisis and Lewis' words were exactly fulfilled: the victim started turning on some family and church elders as surrogates for the unavailable perpetrator. The person refused counsel that their past was possibly being imported into the present and cut off dozens of relationships in response. "Hurt people hurt other people" is a real phenomenon and it has to be left on the table when processing a difficult situation. Sin is just messy that way.

The difference between Michael Brown and Mike Bickle’s situations really comes down to one difference. Both of the alleged victims of Brown stopped it before it progressed further. Brown had been grooming both of them using spiritual language just like Bickle and then began initiating romantic relationships with them. With “Erin” he never acknowledged it was romantic and tried to frame it as he was her spiritual dad (Gross) and then used that spiritual abuse to then begin sexually grooming her with physical touch and pushed the boundaries farther and farther. With the woman he was having phone s*x with, he allegedly was trying to meet up with her and convince her to stop sleeping with her Husband. Thankfully “the fog of grooming” lifted for both women before it progressed, and they ended it. Not Dr Brown. That’s the difference. Also, I’m not in any way blaming Bickle’s victims for not “stopping it” sooner, when you look at the age/power dynamics/prophetic manipulation there, Mike is fully at blame. I was only pointing out we might be having the same conversation about Brown if his grooming didn’t get stopped, and he got what he seemingly wanted. I hope he fully repents and stops talking his way around it.

I have not found a church in my 14 years as a believer where Matthew 18 is followed. Churches are run like businesses and not a church. I have found conflict in churches hard to navigate because Matthew 18 is often missing. So needed. 30:43 🙏🕊🕊 Meaning, the example of Platt is fairly normal. I think this exposure is much bigger than Platt. God is calling the church as a whole to repent from this type of practice. All exposures we've seen in recent years, operate like this as well. 35:53 Again, with Brown. The gaslighting. This is a cultural issue in the church. The Structure is broken. Once more, we see Matthew 18 not being carried out. It's the same pattern, over and over.

Thus, not practicing church discipline is why we’re having all the scandles & exposés. No fear of the Lord anymore & no fear of public rebuke. That alone would cause people to think twice about abusing the sheep. That will require all of us to get more comfortable with confessing our sins to one another, being more transparent & sharing stories of redemption.

@@theouterplanetJust be careful, God is not a sucker. A murderer can say that he is sorry. However, if he continues murdering then one can conclude that the murderer is not. The change of mind is so profound that it produces a changed life. 1 cor 6:9 is a reminder that God is not playing games. The transgressions mentioned in that passage send people to hell. People sin left and right, they plan on what they are going to do over the weekends for example. Then they go to church and give a false repentance. Why? The following week they go right back to their own vomit. God is not a fool, he see’s your heart. When you repent you better be for real because you are completely exposed. One will stumble as they are not perfect but there are those who enjoy their deliberate rebellion. They pervert and abuse the grace of God. Just know that you will get judged my friend, it will just be you and him 1 on 1 and every secret will be exposed. Repentance is not easy (it is a gift) that is a lie from the devil. God see’s your heart and nothing is hidden so again, you better be for real. The bride was purchased with his own blood so it’s very personal for him. Watch yourself and your doctrine (1 Timothy 4:16) If one can live in sin and not feel an ounce of guilt or conviction, that person is not under grace. God has simply given them over to what they desire (Romans 1). I do ‘t advocate for sinless perfection but there is a difference of note when a person is truly saved. Ezekiel 36: 25-32 describes what it looks like. It is a supernatural act and it is dramatic.

I'm not a Brown fan, but calling balls and strikes here....right before he said that he would let the investigation flesh out the details, he mentioned that the reason it has remained quiet was because of deference to his wife, and that was what was agreed upon by the two married couples. I think this still applies. Given the delicate nature, he may not want to publicly embarrass and hurt his wife again with a play by play of what happened, not can he assume what details the victim wants to be made public. Furthermore, we don't REALLY know the motives of the victim...why now, 23 years later? She wasn't a child. She was a fully mature, married woman. Is there an unspecified ax to grind? Is there a financial motive? We don't know. I do not think its appropriate at this time for Brown to FORWARD his recollection of specific events. I think it is better that formal complaints be made, and he respond to those point by point. I used to be a big defender of Brown even though I am not a charismatic. I no longer trust him after I saw the dishonest way he DOES IN FACT gaslight people. When he defends nutjobs like Sid Roth (nothing to see there), and just recently, denied the VIDEO EVIDENCE of Todd White FAKING HEALINGS, I realized this is a slippery guy. He is adept at using language to yes, gaslight people, and deny obvious realities. He may be doing that again now, I don't know.

You are teaching and applying the whole counsel of God. Although not pleasant, it is honorable and very helpful to me. I have found similarly--- present in Ken Fish's preaching and teaching-- a balance of preaching about and confronting sin and also presenting the goodness and power of God to restore and heal those contrite of heart. ( And by restore, I am not referring to restoration to ministry but to God and others and ones self being healed of underlying issues.) So, thank you for presenting "the good, the bad, and the ugly" whole counsel of God, which does follow scripture because God did not cover up sin among His people and addressed this in a forthright manner as you taught/ presented today.

If a church organization is a 501 c3, their finances are regulated by the IRS. Irregular bookkeeping, double books, spending designated donated monies on non designated expenditures is a crime exposing the board and the people involved open to litigation by the membership and prosecution and fines by the government.

There's a caveat here. ALL churches are considered 503(c)(b)s by the IRS by default. However, in order to fall under the legalities you mentioned a church needs to actually register with the IRS...yearly. If they don't, then they are 503(c)(b) by categorization only...and are not bound by the statutes.

Greetings from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 Brothers, thank you for this episode. It is really important for the body. Continue to exalt Christ and boldly proclaim the gospel. Expose false doctrine and those who would bring the name of Christ and His church into disrepute. All these people mentioned today should leave "ministry" and sit under a pastor and church that are faithful to the gospel and uphold the biblical qualifications of eldership. I don't always agree with everything but keep up your important good work. God bless, Andrew

Dr. Michael Brown repented about the things he did wrong over TWENTY-FIVE YEARS ago. If he was calling friends to prepare them for what was about to come out, what’s the big deal? Was he supposed to be in full agreement with his accuser without defending himself? To be honest, this all sounds ridiculous to me. I have met Dr. Brown and I believe he is a godly man. He confessed to his wife YEARS ago about what had happened (which was not adultery, by the way), which shows that he wasn’t trying to live a double life. Regarding the comment on 34:20 I want to ask why we should assume the worst possible interpretation of Dr. Brown’s reaction? Is it IMPOSSIBLE that Dr. Brown was simply wrong in his opinion? How about the possibility that he was correct? Either way, what is the evidence that he was gaslighting? At 36:39, it’s mentioned that Dr. Brown yelled at someone; at 36:46 you say he apologized. I’m sorry, but the last I checked, it’s a GODLY thing to apologize. Then you ask at 36:50 why would a Christian do that. However, do you realize that that question could be asked literally of EVERY sin we have ever committed? Call me naive, but I don’t think Dr. Brown is being treated fairly. He is a godly man and I hope he doesn’t step down. By the way, I’m not even a fan of his, yet I respect him.

It feels like Miller especially is trying to distance himself from Dr. Brown and is too willing to accept the accusations as true in toto, and expecting Dr. Brown to just confess to them whether accurate or not. I saw Dr. Brown's statement and it didn't bother me at all. He didn't say he was innocent, he didn't blame the victim, he apologized as much as he could, and he tried not to say anything specific about the investigation . The way we react to this stuff puts the accused in a Catch-22: If he speaks up in any way it's spun as "gaslighting", minimizing, or manipulation. But if he stays silent it's recieved as if the person is hiding from the public and from accountability.

Dr. Brown completely failed to repent and that is made abundantly clear in his apology video. Not once did he admit to his adultery which is blatant deception because he knows Matthew 5:28 better than most Christians. He didn’t admit any of his inappropriate behavior towards Erin and instead is letting the investigation do its work which is such a waste of time and donor money. He was there he knows what happened! Why not come clean and end the investigation? Probably because we now know from several witnesses he did in fact touch/kiss her. So far, Dr Brown only admitted to what he’s been caught doing, and never the full truth, which is the very opposite of a contrite and broken, repentant heart. In this statement he once again minimized his past actions, by saying « 23 years ago » several times. Does anyone think this will be a valid argument before the judgment seat of Christ? Time doesn’t exist in the spirit realm, Jesus will still hold us accountable for sins unrepented of, whether they happened yesterday or 23 years ago. And finally Dr.Brown *lied* about what happened with the other married woman. The widower of said woman came out and exposed Brown because he was not being honest and slandering his dead wife’s memory. The Lord said we know a tree by his fruits, and we can know the heart of a person by what’s coming out of their mouths. What are the fruits coming from Dr Brown? -concealing sin, self-preservation, twisting the truth, omitting the truth, doing things in the dark, silencing people who confronted him, not being honest, shifting the blame on the victims, not admitting his actions, gaslighting etc etc etc…. All these reveal an unrepentant, hardened heart that will go to extreme lengths such as lying (all liars will have their part in the lake of fire) to protect his earthly kingdom/idol. This is not brokenness or humility! Michael Brown has not repented and this is extremely worrying because his soul is at stake.

There's been a lot of allegations/accusations about more stuff Dr Brown has done, allegations/accusations from people who know Dr Brown and have worked with him in the past. If the only stuff that Remnant was going off was the things they mentioned in the video then that would be a bit strange, I agree. But there's actually more stuff- they're responding to all the stuff, not necessarily laying all the stuff out. I looked at Twitter and I also googled "allegations Dr Michael Brown" on Google and found stuff from The Royes Report, Christian Post, Christianity Today, and other sources. I was like "Woah, why haven't we heard about this before?". Seems it's been mostly kept under wraps lately. So yeah, it's all stuff out in the open. 19:09 There were plenty of things to cover in that video. I think the lack of transparency, outright lies, and breaking of bylaws. Pew Research labels SBC as a denom, just FYI. For all intents and purposes, the SBC is looked at as a denomination, the largest one in the USA. The AoG started as an association and look where they are now. Clearly they developed into one of the largest denoms in the country. Sorry, to say that Platt didn't change the direction and take it decidedly down a progressive road, is not doing due diligence on Platt. If, like Michael Miller said, you can hold leadership accountable to the level he described is appropriate, then Platt shouldn't have been untouchable. 27:00 - never heard that verse, a good one. Great points on binding and loosing. Thank you, MR, for the strong comments. The elders *and Platt had no accountability. VERY wise to not mix church and parachurch. For example Mike Winger has been caught editing people’s writings to sit his viewpoint of them. For example Bethel Church in Redding. He claims that they’re into new age. And he takes from the book the physics of heaven. Claiming that one of the authors in the book Ellen Davis is promoting new age. But when you read the full quote you find out it’s exactly opposite of what you’re saying. Now I know many do not like Benny Hinn and he has Been problematic for us charismatics. Claiming to repent and then find out he’s still doing the same thing. Even still that doesn’t give winger the right to take one of his videos and slow down the speed to make Hinn sound like a demon. Also editing the video part putting glowing eyes on Hinn. You might want to a segment on this. It is a dangerous area to blame a victim who has been looking up to a pastor as a spiritual authority, a shepherd, a trusted protector who systematically starts crossing boundaries in a way that is gradual. Saying ok to the first hand holding puts the victim into an emotional spin. Please don't make statements like, " the woman is compliant" until you listen to several testimonies about how sly, and evil these predators are and so often with young women or men who are naive and pursing the LORD. . The church assumed the allegations were true, put the pastor on leave during investigation, a team was formed headed by a woman (the allegations were sexual), outside pastors were brought in to weigh in on our church's allegations to have a neutral third party, and ultimately the allegations were unfounded. The church was transparent with the congregation and did say they offered a pathway to restoration to the person who made false allegations. Absolutely well done.

Many times they are abused, sometimes they are complicit, and sometimes they are the ones that initiated/targeted the interactions. The statements and assumptions made about the guilt of Dr. Michael Brown also feel very extreme. If he's denying the allegations and stating let the investigation come forth, that is what we should want. You are assuming he is guilty and should repent, and stated as much multiple times...going as far as to conclude he should step down from ministry completely. He has basically stepped down. Also... Assumptions made about why he recently took pictures with well-known Christian leaders is him scheming, again is basically hearsay, gossipful, or even slanderous. You don't have evidence why he did ...Unless those leaders have come forth stating as much. I think you guys probably need to re-look and re-listen to this episode, and consider recanting some of the conclusions/recommendations you've made. Unfortunately - there are women who are bitter about something else in their lives add get offended by a particular man for some reason (who knows why?? Could be just about anything) After many years of stewing in that bitterness and anger - they finally come up with a way to inflict their target with the ultimate accusation: that the accused has abused them - or someone close to them - and spread their concoction of lies and deception. (My own sister did this to my husband. Just a few weeks before he and I got married, we were at my family’s house, and he ended up witnessing just how physically abusive she was. He’d heard many times - from many of my friends, as well as myself, about how she treated me, but he’d never seen her in action. That night - he stepped in and put her in her place, by stopping her until I could escape to another room. She stewed in her anger over that situation for a number of years, until she came To with a story by taking bits and pieces of information from his childhood and combining them with things that SHE - AND HER HUSBAND - WERE DOING, coming up with a fantastical story that had destroyed our lives and family. All the while she and her husband and kids have continued to thrive… Never once being held accountable for ANYTHING SHE’S EVER DONE AGAINST US. Not every woman who makes an accusation of abuse has truly been abused by the person she’s accusing. It is vitally important to understand that it is NOT A BAD THING to fully investigate the alleged victim… If we did more of that, we l might be able to prevent innocent men - and their families - from being destroyed.

A Verdict on who? We have recordings of Jimmy, Platt, and Chris. And more than one credible witness has come forward to tell their story about Dr. Brown's grooming. The Evidence is before the church. and it is the the responsibility of the church to handle these matters. Brown's own board is doing the investigation, they are not a court.

Concerning Michael Brown, the 2 women accusers from over 23 years ago are responsible for their sin. They were not raped or coerced but engaged in an emotionally inappropriate relationship with Michael Brown. These women were knowledgeable of the Bible and the fact that he was a married man. These women are not victims and have committed the same sin as Michael Brown.

You guys show a real lack of wisdom on the David Platt issue. I'm not going to defend him and I'm sure there were things done that were wrong. The guy who made the "documentary" was the same guy who had been kicked out of the church and then used his kids as props and brought them to an adult business meeting in hopes of getting the narrative that "David Platt just kicked us out in front of our kids". So the video was made with an extreme agenda. And of course they made it in a way that was only going to make Platt look bad. Until you guys interview David Platt and give him the chance to explain his side, you probably shouldn't be throwing stones and being ridiculous enough to say that he is disqualified.

Thank you for the balance and tone you handle this with. I was part of 4 days of meetings out at IHOP in 2021. I was with Bickel, Greaves, Slyker, Misty, Chris Reed, among others. There were only 30 of us or so, I wore a name tag, and Chris left the room briefly before “giving me a word of knowledge” that was surprising and specific. After Bickel fell, I met with Chris to let him know I doubted he was honest with me. He swore he was. So I’ve released him to the Lord. But then his Morningstar scandal came out and my fears were made more certain. His wife and kids are wonderful, but I wonder what is really going on in that family. Missy is genuinely a lovely woman and mother, but it must be very dark.

Good work guys. I must say, thank you for spending so much time clarifying that Rountree wasn’t propping up the proletariat and neo Marxist idealogies and power structures. I really was concerned there for a second and am breathing a sign of relief. We need to make sure we are only defending the worthy proletariat. Carry on comrades.

Good program. I listened to a Bible commentary yesterday where the speaker said "Never ask God for justice. Ask for mercy and grace."

Wow. Historically I've been a bit critical of y'all (especially the jesting banter...which y'all have toned down A LOT and I appreciate that). But I REALLY REALLY appreciate how you've handled this one. Especially with Chris Reed 😭 whom I had been following for about 4 years. Ugh, so so sad and disappointed how he has mined information on people. The lack of transparency and lack of full repentance breeds further mistrust. All of it is heart breaking. 💔

I gotta be honest, I like the banter and jesting 😅 But yes, I'm so glad for Christians who are down to earth normal folk and can be serious and get down to business.

People don’t know what people do in the dark. But if it comes to light we need to take a stand and give biblical foundations and guidance. Paul called out Peter in public. And gave the reason why.

A major difference between parties that are bringing allegations is one seeks personal glory and the other seeks God’s glory. That’s one way to discern.

Look for the patterns. A single incident may probably be resolved, if handled well and fully discussed with accountable parties, but patterns reveal an intiredly different problem. I am very saddened by these revelations.

There's some of us in the prophetic who have been warned that God will be cleaning up his church and removing pastors who are in sin and won't repent. That said, I don't know anything about these particular people or their allegations. My feeling, though, is that this could be part of God's actual clean-up effort that he was talking to me about.

I don't mean this question in the context of this video because of the types of things that have occurred. But, what is the difference between spiritual abuse and a clergy member sinning against someone in the congregation? When is someone disqualified?

I don't really understand where Michael Miller gets his concept of consent. There are few people that have power that would Make the fundamental definition of consent change for the woman. I don't think a pastor or clergy member fits that role. Can you please help me understand?

@cindyanderson4757 I read your comment. I understand many women have been taught from childhood to "submit silently", and I can't say I've experienced anything similar to an abusive situation like that, but can we honestly say God holds them faultless completely? Its a question I don't event want to ask because many women (and some men) have experienced horrible things, but it is a question we should think through.
