When I did Battlecry it was a nightmare, I was also stubborn and refused to restart. 1963, 8mill Guangxi casualties, but the Allies got 176mill casualties. That was back when the spy system just got released and the AI would death stack division late game and my tanks ran over insane numbers of divisions. I've never played another warlord game, don't think I will either.

For border conlifcts, use Mountaineers as the terrain is mostly mountains so there is massives attack penalties. Try to make 7-2s usung regulars to fill the division due to Spec.Force cap. Border war have their own combat width but any tile a unit is attacking/defending from will apply to the whole battle (River crossing make me angy). For china placibg a unit by an actual border will affect the chances of where the conflict will happen so you can be strategic about what provinces you want.

I got Battlecry at one point several years ago. I got it because some glitch happened that caused it to randomly complete without me having completed any of the prerequisites, because a bug is the only conceivable reason I can think of for it firing. I was playing Manchukuo, too, so I'm pretty sure I shouldn't even have been eligible for it, even though I was independent due to historical focuses being off and Japan granting me independence.

I found it easier to get Battlecry by playing Sinkiang. Join the Comintern, kill Xibei with Soviet help before the war with Japan (and Shanxi too if you can), leave the Comintern, join the Communist, beat back Japan from the continent, defeat the Nationalist and invade Japan.

You can actually do it as Shanxi very easily. Basically you flip fascist through a civil war and join japan before they atack you. Then you focus on making like 5 7/2 divisios that'll just assblast any chinese division. You'll act as the brains the japanese AI is lacking by taking supply hubs and encircling divisions. In the peace deal you first pass a couple turns to let the japanese AI give you land for free as you have cores on everything and use your own warscore to outbid the japanese on any state they try to make a puppet in or annex directly. Then you build up for a war with Japan and then leave their faction and let them declare war on you. By joining the allies you can use the same trick you used in the previous peace deal in order to get all the states you have cores on for free and use your own war score to take japanese cores and outbid ther allies on evry state they try to puppet.

Battlecry is still the only achievement I have. Why? Because once I decided to play in iron man and settled on playing Xibei San Ma. However, I quickly realized that no, this would not be a fun game. So I left it. Somehow, this broke steam and it gave me the achievement for doing literally nothing. Thanks I guess
