Another interesting episode gentlemen! I just disagree with my HC brothers on their point of having to be purposefully in league with evil is required to engage in witchcraft. Of course that is the purest form, but there are several gateways that lead people there without knowing the source. For instance, many chiropractors and naturopaths engage in dowsing unbeknownst to them. It is engaging in witchcraft unbeknownst to the practitioner. All they and the patients know is “it works.” Next step is the patient looking into this and finding a rabbit trail of occultic hacks….

If a well-meaning family member (I’m not sure how this works exactly) bakes a cake with a charm in it to better my health and it actually works, did I engage in witchcraft? I think what our brothers are saying here is that while demons can appear as an angel of light, you have to intentionally align yourself with supernatural/preternatural evil beings or forces in order to actually engage in witchcraft. This doesn’t necessarily mean one must REALIZE those things are evil.

Ask yourself who is the one doing the dowsing… The question is can someone engage in witchcraft without being a consummate witch. Even unbeknownst to them, because of lack of knowledge. The clear answer is yes. This is a category that doesn’t fit into the rigid framework/definition the HC boys put forward. There are plenty of solid chiropractors that don’t practice dowsing or other occult underpinnings that defined chiropractic care from the start. The issue isn’t chiropractic care per se, this was an easy example from every day that many have experienced. Apologia also did several sermons about it so the concept is widely known.

You’re talking about something that wasn’t the focus of the show or the definition they provided. I certainly dont think anyone could come away thinking the guys were saying you could ‘engage in witchcraft’ so long as you’re not a witch. Is that what you think they are doing? It seems a lot like the yoga debate to me. Yoga proper is certainly sin. Is the housewife who does stretching in her home sinning? Again The issue is: can a person engage in “witchcraft” unbeknownst to them of a concepts origin? “Gaining knowledge by means against nature.”The clear answer as yes. In the case of chiropractic care i would challenge you to look into its origins. Guaranteed You’d be surprised of what you find. But many chiropractors today are above board and don’t engage in the seedier elements of the past. I know many in my circles that are solid born again Christians that know other chiropractors engage in occult practices. The issue isn’t meant to be about chiropractors per se though many have had experiences with chiropractors who do this, so it’s just an everyday example. I’m hardly the only one who has noticed this as apologia did several sermons on it called a soecific chiropractor out by name in their community and stated it was witchcraft, though the chiropractor himself was unaware of the concepts origins, only that it worked. Do you think dowsing isn’t an act of witchcraft?

I agree with a lot of what you guys are saying, but I do a lot of magic tricks as a hobby, and the example you gave of the Medium talking to the dead relative is an example of a type of Cold Reading. It's called in the magic books, "a fishing expedition," or sometimes "a shotgun approach." Where you just throw out a letter, or a name or a gender and hope you strike upon something the person will bite onto. In Contrast, a real medium is never vague and doesn't say "I am getting the Letter D, or I am getting the image of a man." A real medium will just straight up say, "You're grandfather died last week. His name was Dave, and you are concerned about him." And then they will straight up steer the person being read deeper into the occult. "We need to have a seance to bring him forth, etc."

I think the constant harping on a woman’s singleness and appearance erodes, not necessarily the validity of anything you are saying, but the effective reception of what you are saying. I am a single woman who loves the Lord and desires to grow in His grace and knowledge of Him and for my life to glorify Him. I know so many single women who serve God with their lives and have a heart for marriage and servant hood. And demonizing singleness, specifically of women, seems to detract from your premise rather than making it impactful and easy to share.

I came here to make a similar comment. The Bible doesn't call the Witch of Endor an ugly old crone, nor should you be making coarse jokes about the type of woman you expect to be a witch. There was no commentary about what the men engaging in witchcraft looked like. I’ve seen pretty people who are ugly from within. In witchcraft the devil is a taskmaster. Anyone doing the bidding of the devil will have to be a slave to Satan to get what they want. When I read the text about the witch of Endor and Saul, what I get is the witch is frightened because she realizes she's dealing with King Saul, and her life is on the line. He even reassures her he won't have her killed.

Yes, and that part is over with. So then she does the calling up of Samuel, and the thing is" she didn't go over God and get him from him; she called up evil spirits and they pretended to be Samuel to tell him his faith. The thing he died for was doing the thing God said not to do; he was used as example. God wants us not to do those things because demons will pretend to be loved ones. No one can talk to anyone that has died, it's all demonic encounters.

He never said he was Saul in the beginning. She realized who he was in verse 12, and she accused him of deceiving her. And nowhere does the passage say it was something pretending to be Samuel. Very strange, but so is a talking donkey!

Those who know, know, that delving into the dark arts will come back to haunt you and bring a lot of negativity and chaos into their lives. I don't believe in playing around with those energies but I merely protect myself from all negativity.... if that's considered dark arts by some, then I don't know what to tell them!! I believe in Light, Love and positive energy which exists all around us, it's nature and the natural order of things. King Saul did NOT speak with the dead prophet Samuel. He spake with a familiar spirit that impersonated Samuel: 1 Chronicles 10:13 ¶ So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; Think about that... Spirits can appear as people you know. This is a foreshadowing of 2 Corinthians 11:5 that mentions "another Jesus" (ie, a counterfeit Jesus - the Antichrist).

It was Samuel sent to deliver judgement and Saul was condemned not for speaking with Samuel but for having gone to the witch to begin with. You read the text and thought you caught something but you missed something else. Read it again.

This was a lie, because not all of Saul's sons died in that battle. Ish-bosheth was not killed. Deuteronomy 18:20-22 tells us the test of a prophet: if he is from God, he has to be right 100% of the time - he can never be wrong. Samuel was a true prophet from God who was never wrong. This familiar spirit was a false prophet: this one tiny lie in his otherwise truthful prophecy renders him a false prophet, and therefore he could not possibly be the actual Samuel.

@@drip369 Wow, I've certainly never heard of a town doing that in modern times. There is a large rock shop in our small conservative city. It's in the mall and has a strong New Age emphasis. It has an openly pagan store next door associated with it, but I've never been in there. Every one of them points towards a Creator and a bunch of sub creators and since religion is simply defined as a practice of worship, everybody has the chance of missing the mark which is what the word sin is defined as. That's why the Christ talked about meeting people where they are instead of trying to place them where you are because it doesn't work that way. Same thing with loving your neighbor as you love yourself, that also doesn't work, which is why the Christ said to love your neighbor in the way that the Christ loves His Church
