Hi! just wondering what the kit you got was called
@arudanel55424 жыл бұрын
Right on Elliot, ESD safe means they have non-conductive coating, so they won't short out components while working. Also the wrist strap is indeed anti-static. Clip the alligator clip on a metal table leg. Modern electronics are not as delicate as they used to be, and we have stuff like dryer sheets and all. But if you're doing it on a professional level, you're repairing hundreds a week sometimes, and that 1% chance of frying something always hits when fixing a one of a kind antique model or something. The suction cup is great for getting gameboy screen lens perfectly centered too, a stick on handle. One tip to get it off easily, so you don't yank the glass back off, use a spudger to lift the edge just enough so air gets under it and lifts it off the glass. Great review, for sure. The flex extender is the kind of thing that you almost never need, but when you do (to get that one impossible screw) it's a god-send.

One little thing in the screwdriver kit that I thought was odd but found using a lot a SIM Card Ejector Tool Bit which makes taking out SIM Cards or even pressing tiny reset buttons way nicer. Plus it works fine on its own if you don't even want to use the handle. Also, the lid can attack to the bottom of the screwdriver kit which can be nice if you are just taking that from one spot to another and put some screws inside the air gap that it creates. Plus the lid also has that grid which can be just a nice basic spot to group screws together. Also, I have had nothing but great customer service from them so far. I got one bit stuck where I couldn't get at it anymore. I emailed them and they sent me a replacement right away for no charge. I accidentally got the bit name wrong, so they said oh that's fine just keep the one we sent and we will send you the correct one. Lifetime warranties are awesome :D always feels good when a company stands behind their product that much.

This is actually really good for me. Not the whole $70 kit, obviously, but the handle and the Joy-Con repair kit, definitely! I haven't experienced any drift in my Joy-Cons yet, and I've had my Switch for 3 years now *knock on wood*, but I definitely have been keeping my eye out for it and what to do if it happens. This kit would totally work for me, so thanks, Elliot, for uploading this video! In fact, watching you repair old portable consoles makes me feel much more comfortable about what I'd be doing if I had to repair one myself, because you're so detailed in your instructions and explanations. I've never done soldering, so that would be a weak point, but I think that following your videos, and with a little practice, I could really improve the life of my portable consoles, so thanks for that too!

Ive had one of the Pro Tech kits for a while. Honestly its great. The plastic pry tools have a tendency to break after lots of opening of phones and such. ESD safe means electrostatic discharge safe.

Hey Elliot, a few weeks ago I got an old Game Boy Advance SP 101 in really nasty dirty condition and needed to open it up to clean it. I found a few month ago your retro channel and remembered about the IPS Mod I saw there. So I came back for the tutorial an notice I dont have this stupid Y Tri Wing Bits and my search began for some quality tools :) Long story short, after hour of search for the right bit I got one week ago my ifixit Manta Kit. I was really impressed how good the quality was. My highlight is definitive the screwdriver handle, really love it. Always thought before that ifixit stuff is rubbish. Mind changed since I got my Kit :)

iFixit have some of the best quality tools for gadget fixing. I’ve used many cheap sets and while they work, I’ve had to source the bits and pieces myself and probably spent more in the long run than with the Pro tool kit from iFixit. Now I use it for anything electronic, gave all my other tools to my son to play and learn with. Highly recommend as you’ll pay a bit upfront but you won’t need anything for any other project ever again, not just Nintendo stuff.

Def not a tool guy, lol! There aren’t “more Phillips bits. One row is Phillips, the other is JIS, they might look like Phillips at a glance, but they’re actually very different with different geometry - if you try to use a Phillips bit on a JIS fastener, you really risk stripping the head out, as the bit will cam out nonstop, or you’ll have to apply so much force for it to not cam out, that you’ll break/crack whatever is underneath. So always double check what the actual fastener standard is, before using either a Phillips or the JIS.
