Not only is it great to see the process, tips and tricks, it's also great to get insights on your local (American) construction methods, some of which can be vastly different to my region - appreciate the content, all the way from Rio.

Thanks for the video! I always learn from them and often refer to the array video you made. My colleague used that technique to create a nested sole plate family with bolts and drill recess included. Win! It's my time to share! I recently tried using the trim/extend single element (or multiple) for aligning beams and wall ends. It literally changed my modeling life. It aligns the blue dot to the selected surface, so it's good! I bound that and the Aign command to easy shortcut. They are probably my most used commands...that and cltr z 🤣🤣

Wow, some serious content, worth the wait though! Thank you for sharing Jeff, love to see a bit of plumbing in near future ( due to plumbing in in 3d)

Plumbing in 3D will be coming up... of course, I am an architect and not a plumber or engineer... so, take it with a grain of salt. ;)

Do you have a video where you go over modifying framing families to have the X in them?
@ a few weeks ago I was working on a glulam family with lammelas in section cuts similar to the x in dimension lumber. I think I tried both a nested array family and array of detail lines directly in the beam family. I think I had a hard time getting the constraints to flex in both situations.
@MikeeG6Ай бұрын
You ever use trim and extend to move the blue dot? That's what i do. I found that dragging the blue dot can often lead to snapping all caddywompus.
@AllenAngleАй бұрын
Sometimes it’s like you and Nick of BIM Pure coordinate content. 😅 You need to have him back for the wood family work he has just completed.
@TheRevitKidАй бұрын
haha that was just a WILD coincidence! But yes, the custom families he is building for wood framing are coming along awesome!
@AllenAngleАй бұрын
@ not all that custom, they would easily fit what you presented here. Either way, keep up the great content of solving problems!

your header parameters are good I like it, but you need to set up a parameter for a point load coming down on your header, I've had this happen several times before
@TheRevitKidАй бұрын
I did say this not a one size fits all family... right? 🤣

Love your videos. Thank you. What would you do if a consultant asked for the model and its jamb pack with families that you made? And don't want to give out?
@hu5tle-Ай бұрын
I''m always interested in modeling as much as I can and in that pursuit I even purchased AGACAD's wood framing software, thinking that would be an easy way to frame in REVIT, but after many consulting sessions (paid) and many hours of videos, I had to give up on it. I think there must be an easier way to do this. Even using beam systems may not be accurate to how things get framed in the field. I do like the idea of the header family driving some of the model. I'll have to check those out.

have you check VERTEX BD and MWF Pro? They are competitors of AGACAD
@hu5tle-18 күн бұрын
@@steedlei1 I have tried MWF, but not heard of Vertex BD. Will check it out. thanks
@steedlei118 күн бұрын
@@hu5tle- how's Mwf? similar performances as AGAcad? I'd so, I think self custom made revit families is best way to do accurate stud wall and roof farming. These plugins are too expensive, also maybe too automatic to make small details accurately.
@hu5tle-18 күн бұрын
@@steedlei1 I only trialed it, then bought AGACAD for 1 year plus. AGACAD and MWF really seem geared towards production/pre-fab factories. Trying to do it with one-off remodels and then hope the wall you created for one project can roll forward to the next is a pipe dream with AGACAD. The purchase was costly, then they charge you for "consulting" i.e. getting your walls set up, so more costs, then there's always little tweaks and more pain that it's worth. I think the big take-away for me would be to wait until almost the end of the project to apply the framing, then nudge and adjust to account for MEP's etc. I'd guess that would get most to about 90+%. One day we'll just have a prompt within X program that will frame based off your desired set up. :)
@steedlei118 күн бұрын
@hu5tle- Thank you very much mate for your detailed reply. It convinced me just using native revit families for framing. Which is most versatile approach I 😀

What flugin are you using so that the browser project has an icon like that?
@TheRevitKidАй бұрын
The only plugin changing the UI would be PyRevit to color the tabs... otherwise its just Revit 2025 ...

is that header family in the residential template on your site? edit: just got to the part where you explain it :)

It is not in the current template, but the sample file for the project is in the community and there is a discussion on the header family that includes it (plus some other members shared their header families!)

@TheRveitKid, do you have these type of families in meric system? let me know if you do so. Thanks for the amazing tutorial you have safe me tons of time trying to master Revit on my own.

Which families? the header? You can convert it with project units to metric but all the types and naming will be imperial...
