Currently own a Fabia Monte Carlo. AUDI A1 similar spec costs at least $6000 more and a Polo GTI is approx $8000 more. The Skoda Monte Carlo wins hands down!

EXACTLY! Too many of these reviewers are sloppy with their price comparisons. Audi A1 with same engine and spec is much more on the road. Likewise Polo GTI. And lesser polos are all 1L 3cyl. Not to mention Fabia is more spacious and practical than any of aforementioned others. Plus longer warranty and cheaper servicing. Just some good old badge snobbery going on here.

A basic Audi A1 with no options and only the 35 TFSI in white is 44k in NSW. A lot more $$$ than the Skoda, if you are going to infer other VAG group vehicles for a cost view point. At least ensure you are comparing vehicles within the same price bracket, options etc etc
@therightcar11 ай бұрын
According to the configurator, maybe. But the reality is that dealers are doing deals.
@Iwishiwasflying11 ай бұрын
@@therightcar so even the price of the Skoda you can get cheaper. Fleet prices for employees etc etc. all due respect but making Ilan inference that an Audi or VW is cheaper, is incorrect. You display a DA price in your review, make sure you are applying the same mentality across the board. I hope you understand what I’m say. You showed a DA price of 38k. I gave an example of a DA price of an Audi and now you’re trying to change the goal post

The Fabia Monte Carlo is without doubt a very well built and designed, a great driver’s car, and a nice interior. Most Skoda’s are worth buying above many other brands. The engine in this Skoda is a later build of the same engine in our Karoq Launch Edition, it’s a magnificent motor with great low down torque and the DSG gearbox in our Karoq is snappy and effective as you describe in this car. But the world is changing, and your suggestion of the MG4 is very relevant, albeit the higher grade model would be my pick if I was in the market. I’ve driven Skoda’s for years and love them, but test drove an MG4 at lower grade before I committed to my Tesla. You’d need to want the Monte Carlo, and I’m sure some buyers would, but it isn’t a practical car so it would be a matter of loving the car if you bought it. I’ll be interested to see Skoda EV’s when they arrive here. Thanks for another great review!

Starts at over $ 41 k D/A That’s with 3 cylinder / 85 kw motor Halogen headlights Much smaller boot etc An equivalent A1 would probably be $ 50 k, or more !! Another great review. One gripe with the Fabia MC is that it doesn't have the adjustable boot floor that lets you have a flat loading area with the back seats down. Besides that, Skoda are killing themselves with these prices. The Polo GTI was on special for $40K AUD last month and that's a proper sports car. I said the same about the Kamiq in your review. Why buy a Kamiq when I can get a T-Roc for $37K? The only thing going for Skoda is their current 7 years servicing / warranty offer.

Thanks for the comment mate. Yep, I hear you. And I think Skoda realises it had some work to do to get back some of the ground it had in the past as an affordable choice.

Just got home from looking at one of these, so great timing. Haven't looked at the Audi A1 so might have to throw that in the ring now, though Dr Google seems to indicate they will be much more expensive? There's one alternative you didn't cover and I haven't had a chance to test drive either yet, but I'm currently leaning to this or the Scala Signature. They both seem to be almost identical based on specs, Scala is almost the preferred choice based on additional room? Apart from some trim the cabin of both felt very similar with almost identical controls. Love to see a comparison of the two in next couple of weeks before I make a decision :)
@therightcar11 ай бұрын
Ha! The Scala is a lovely thing. Bigger boot and more usable back seat, and not as sporty to drive but a bit more mature.
