I'm an old Zeppelin fan, and without the suggestion, I wouldn't have noticed. Similar, but not that similar, and nowhere nearly as prominent when played as a subtle bass riff behind layers of vocals, bells, and other elements that suggest nothing similar to the Immigrant Song, IMHO. Contrast this to what Kid Rock did to Warren Zevon and Lynard Skynard in the 1990's in "Summertime"..... was it one and not the other, or was it both who the grating POS stole from? Because FM radio still pervaded the culture then, I heard that piece way too many times to un-hear it, and each time it was like "WTF....sounds too much like Zevon!" or "WTF....stolen from Skynard!". Either way, it was a ridiculous song that sounded too much like a couple of legendary riffs, and not in any way was the punk subtle about it. On the other hand: of the above example I can't say the original riffs in question from the 1970's (IF they were original) didn't sound similar to each other, with little other than the instrument mix to distinguish them. When Keith Richards spoke at the induction of Chuck Berry to the Hall of Fame, he made an allusion to the irony that he had been invited, having been the one who "lifted" so many of the older guitarist's licks. When I read of this, I knew I just couldn't hate an artist for music with subtle, if not obvious similarities to what others have done. Anyway, doesn't nearly everyone copy each other on use of chromatic or pentatonic scales?
