By 7:30 am EST, I make my morning stroll to all the gardens and check for weeds. Luckily I actually I have to hunt to find them. We have 14 raised beds from 2 ft. by 2 ft. with a trellis on each to a 2 ft. by 26 ft., a 10 ft. by 25 ft. no-till garden, 4 containers, and a large potatoe grow bag. That gives me fresh air and a little exercise lol. The no-till I started 3 years ago. The first layer is a thick layer of shredded wood chips from trees we had removed, then a thick layer of rabbit manure, a double thick layer of cardboard and shredded paper, and finally another layer of rabbit manure. We have a large rabbitry! I never have to pull weeds there. It is for winter squash, extra tomato plants, and leftover seeds. It started as an experiment and turned out to be a great asset! Enjoyed, take care!

Thank you! I use straw for mulch, as well. In the Fall, do you turn it into the soil? Or try to save a reuse next year? I add a layer of compost each Fall and am wondering how to handle the straw that's there....

Hi Sue! For most of my beds, I just keep the mulch in place and plant again right on top... It becomes the next layer of soil! :-)

Can I plant radish or beet seed now in Nebraska?
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can plant both. Radish is a 30 day harvest, so you could probably plant it twice. Beets take a bit longer, but you'll be harvesting them in the fall, so it's perfect!
