I’m in zone 5 in north central Pennsylvania. When I dig the gladiolus bulbs I miss many of the baby bulbs. They pop up the following spring as though they had just been planted. Sometimes I miss bigger bulbs and they bloom the following spring also. Hardier than they look.

My canes would bend down to the ground and start new plants. They spread all over, even in the grass around them. I had to cut about 1/3 of the canes off early spring and the old canes(3rd year) down to the ground. Had lots of berries but it got too out of control, as my job had too many hours. Have been trying to ‘get rid’ of them for a few years. Think birds spread the seeds, as they pop up in areas I hadn’t planted them. 😂

Hi Jeff. Love all your videos. Learned a ton in a very short time. QUESTION: I moved my potted strawberries against my house to protect them from our frigid Chicago winters. They're under a canopy too. Should I water them occasionally? Thanks Mike.
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike!! You can water them, especially if you are climbing above freezing. Not much, the plants are quite dormant....but the freeze-thaw nature of winter can really dry them out, so its not a bad idea! :-)

These are awesome! Do you grow medicinal herbs? I have recently amped up production of healthy herbs. Especially those that can help with chicken health. You taught me the most about mulch. I am going to get my berries into shape with your help. I have never (successfully: RIP strawberries) grown berries or fruit trees before and now I have raspberries, blackberries, 3 apple trees, and blueberries. HELP! haha.

Hi Jeff could you help a gal out?? I had purchased some flower bulbs that should have been planted in fall but due to having to be away from home for ten weeks I have only just returned to Ontario zone 6b this week. Would it be ok do you think to just plant them now in the hopes of getting flowers from them this spring or is that just wishful thinking? Should I just hold on to the bulbs until next fall? I have hyacinths tulips daffodils iris and some hard neck garlic. Any info you can offer up will be much appreciated! Love your channel, I have ten weeks worth to catch up on 😅

I use something that looks just like that. It can be found at family center or tractor supply. It is sold in packs as pine shaving chicken coop bedding. Although I prefer horse pine shaving bedding for my chicken coop, I love the fine pine shaving bedding for my plants. Hope that helps. God Bless you.

Why did your camera shot from inside the hole show you planting a bulb of garlic rather than individual cloves? Artistic license, or is that a thing?
