May 4th, Zone 7a - I have a free-standing greenhouse meant for transitioning plants (no heaters or lights but receives full sun for 8 hours). At what consistent NIGHTTIME temperature can I put my yellow zucchini (transplanted into 1-gallon grow bags) in there? They will be eventually transplanted (again) into 5 gallon grow bags. I viewed previous videos, but you don't really cover that (at least what I found on your site). Thanks so much for your help!!

I used to be called the zucchini Queen back in NJ. I fed half the neighborhood. When I moved to Tenn. all that changed. The bugs down here are sickening. I had infestations you would not believe... I ordered a greenhouse...but until it comes I decided to grow dwarf zukes in my spare bedroom. I wish I could show the pics, flowers galore tiny teeny zukes are starting to grow. I am back. Love your zucchini plants reminds me of what used to be. Very nice videos. Thank you.

I just wanted to say that I love all your videos, and they have been so helpful! I just planted a single zucchini seed into to a 12”x12”x12” planter box I made. For the soil, I honestly went to a spot in my yard that had a ton of dead leaves and tree debris, as it has a lot of pine trees, and lots of fat, juicy worms in the soil. I layered my soil with the dirt and some straw, in hopes to give it more aeration, and it is in direct sun. The soil is pretty dense, but I think will be nutrient rich. Any thoughts for me, moving forward? Thank you so much in advance!!

For the past two weeks, my potted zucchini plants started getting female flowers that dried and died even before blooming. So they start growing a small fruit with the small flower bud and then they dry and drop before opening and being pollinated. Any suggestions? Heat? Calcium deficiency? What should I do? 😭 I am in Ontario zone 5a. Thank you.

When I grew the zucchinis two years ago, I got two major issues. #1: The plant takes way to much real estate while producing huge squash. Like 2 plants took half of my 4x8 raised bed. #2. Nobody in my family like it. Except for one, I ended up giving all of it away. Not planting it anymore. LOL. Once again, very good advise.

Squash bugs live over winter by hiding in plant debris and coarse mulch....so if you're prone to the bugs, first get rid of their winter hiding spots. After that, regular natural dish soap kills the eggs, and manual removal of the adults is pretty easy, although a bit laboursome....

Haaai there, I am a little confused, but may be that is because the language, sorry for that. 1. At minute 5.06 you said sow BEFORE last frost spring and 2. At the recap at minute 10.02 , I read AFTER 2 weeks.... Ok, now I am lost....before or after??? ....please help. In the Netherlands the last frost date is 15 may, so when I want to sow early indoors, that is about end of april???? 👩‍🌾Greetzz Here we say: Koerzjet 😂

No worries Estella! Let me clarify. If you are DIRECT SOWING outdoors into your garden, you need to wait for warmer weather before planting....so 1-2 weeks AFTER your last spring frost. If you are sowing early indoors, then you get to sow early, 2 weeks BEFORE your last spring frost. 2 ways to grow.....2 different times to start.

How do I deal with the squash bugs that kill my squash every year. I kill them and the eggs they just keep coming back.

Plant something else that that like that you want or sprinkle cayenne pepper on it 🤷 worth a try
@TheRipeTomatoFarms

Squash bugs live over winter by hiding in plant debris and coarse mulch....so if you're prone to the bugs, first get rid of their winter hiding spots. After that, regular natural dish soap kills the eggs, and manual removal of the adults is pretty easy, although a bit laboursome....

What is the spacing for direct sowing ?
@TheRipeTomatoFarms
@TheRipeTomatoFarms 2 жыл бұрын
Same spacing (18-24 inches apart), but put 2 or 3 seeds in each spot to ensure a plant in each location. Thin about a week to 10 days after sprouting.

Every once in awhile that is understandable but every single sentence raising your voice at the end like it's a? I just can't listen to for very long. Just some constructive criticism.

At face value it sounds like not enough light if they are leggy. Mine are only 10 days old and are receiving full sun already outdoors in 78F weather. They have not stretched in the slightest and will be planted in the ground in a few days. Already have roots hanging out of the bottom of the 3.5" starter pots. Unlike tomatoes and peppers, you can hold off longer on these. They grow sooooo fast but must have adequate light.

Hi Jeff, I did twice some trial test on a few seeds, in paper cups several weeks back and find that it sprouted and grew excellent with huge leaves, but after a few days the leaves get like white spots and looks transparent in few places/the transparent areas seems lightly pulled/curl slightly and then turn yellow and rotted off. Do you have an idea why this might be happening and if so, it’s some kind disease etc... please and thanks 🙏 so much 🇨🇦

That is very strange Seddy....odd to get them germinating so well and then to get the leaf discoloration. Might be environmental rather than disease or fungus.
