The Therma-Tru warranty is useless. I have a failed seal on a new door’s glass window causing it to fog. Can’t get anywhere with Therma-Tru.

Hi Kyle, In my experience Therma-Tru has always honored their warranty. I will forward your comment on to some people I know and see if they can't help you out.

Don't scratch it these doors finishes are soft .

I've seen it. It looks like _painted_ wood door. Doesn't look like real wood covered with varnish. There is no that translucent shine of the fibers that real wood has.

Of course! Nothing matches the look of an authentically stained wood door. Although, if you've ever had a wood entry door then you know about the maintenance required to keep them looking good. However!, If you have an entry door that sees a lot of weather, nothing matches the performance of a ThermaTru fiberglass door! The wood stain on these doors is intended to look as close as possible, which in my opinion is pretty darn good.

I have a fiberglass Therma-Tru door installed almost 20 years ago in a new home. South facing but partially covered by porch roof. Still gets a lot of sun. Refinished several times over the years. The door is delaminating. The fiberglass skin is separating from the substrate along the length of the stiles on both the lock side and the hinge side. This is a 3 ft. door with two sidelights oval window with 1/2 glass with brass caning. Expensive to replace. What is the warranty on the door? The only documentation we have is what comes in the refinishing kits. Possible to replace the door slab only? I tried to glue and clamp one corner to see if I could repair, but normal wood glue and Gorilla glue and neither of them will bond this. Thanks.

I just got 3 therma-tru exterior prehung doors. The frames on two of them were completely crooked and misassembled, while the threshold on the third was just missing nails altogether. I wasted so much time immediately rebuilding these things, mostly because I knew better than to waste time and sanity chasing customer service from these companies nowadays.

Thanks for the comment! Keep in mind that Therma-Tru only manufactures the components and ships them loose to door shops. The fit and finish of a pre-hung door lies entirely on the door shop putting it together. That does sound frustrating having to rebuild brand new door frames, but it sounds like you have the know-how to make it look great!

The quality of Therma-Tru doors are very poorly built. I spent over $4000. on a Classic Craft door and the frame wasn't even square. Now everyone knows that you must have a square door frame to match the door slab, right? According to Therma-Tru that's not a big deal. In fact they blame me for the poor workmanship and are generating a lie and are accusing me of not following the install instructions. This is how they treat their customers. My problems don't end there.. The glass in the door has been leaking water into the house for months now. Told that I had to pay $200. to have it replaced. I paid that and I'm still watching the water come in from the the window and ruin my carpet. Word of warning to other possible door buyers out here... DO NOT BUY A THERMA TRU DOOR!

you had a company assemble and install it poorly. probably subcontracted out work

@webking185 no I meant to say they get all the parts together themselves. but Joe shmo does the installation into someone's house rather than quality installers. but now that I re read this guys comment I think I was wrong about what I said

I would like to know if the door frame is flanged or flushed, the video made it appear as if it is flanged.
@wwhomeshowАй бұрын
Hello! This door did not have a flange. That isn't an option our local door shop offers. However, you can order these doors with pre-installed brickmould.

For a South facing door that will get alot of sun do you suggest painting the door over staining for longer durability?
@wwhomeshow Жыл бұрын
Both are going to fade in the direct sun but in my opinion paint would probably look better for longer.

"glass built into the door" - so how do I replace it if it breaks?
@wwhomeshow Жыл бұрын
You are correct, the glass in a flush glazed door cannot be replaced. That being said the glass is tempered and extremely difficult to break. However, if you're worried about glass breakage then I would suggest buying a door with a window insert.

I have a Therma-Tru Door but I need to trim an inch off the door. If I take the weather strip off and cut 1 inch off the bottom, do I need to do anything special with this style of door? For example, router the core 3/16 inch so you can fold over (seen this on a steel door).
@wwhomeshow6 ай бұрын
Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner! There should be solid blocking in that door an inch from the bottom so you should be okay. The only thing I would do is paint the bottom of the door with exterior grade paint before you reinstall the weather stripping.
