Thermal Belt Rail Trail Recumbent Trike Ride From Gilkey, NC to Forest City | BentRider Nation

We had a great group for this recumbent trike ride (and also two bikes) on the Thermal Belt Rail Trail where we started in Gilkey, NC and rode to Forest City. We had lunch at Moe's Famous BBQ. I highly recommend their smoked turkey sandwich. The ride back was beautiful and we enjoyed riding this smooth trail that has long gradual inclines and declines.

My name is Elaine. My husband died on June 12, 2023. He had a 5 year battle with colon cancer. Thank you for continuing to put up these videos. I have a stationary recumbent exercise trike at home. Ron enjoyed riding it with the videos until he couldn’t do it anymore. I have had 2 knee replacement surgeries in the last 2 years and the videos have been a great blessing to me. Ron and I had hoped to purchase two recumbent trikes but he never recovered. I would like to get the trikes in the near future and ride with a friend or maybe find a group to ride with. I live near Greensboro, N C and I am 78 Years old. If you could give me any information or suggestions of groups, Trike dealers in N C I would appreciate your help.

How long was the ride (time and range)? I’m a slow rider. I was wondering if i can keep up with you guys. My average speed is 6-8 mph

All in about 27 miles. The average speed was about 9 miles an hour.
