I’ve never been to crazy about devices that require your phone to function. It’s possible that your next phone might not be compatible, plus your phone is tied up while using the device. At the beginning of the video, I thought that I would certainly like the HTI more, but the interface and post processing options on the flir really won me over, even with the lower thermal resolution. Worth the watch. I certainly learned a few things.

I agree I like stand alone as well. Also I agree the post processing is impressive with the Flir. Flir does have the stand alone but it is more expensive.

Nice review! Useful tool for the bench. I'd like to get one at some point, but I need a couple other needed gizmos first.

I think there are better IR camera's for the same price. Especially when it comes to PCB repair. For example, for the same price you can have a UNI-T UTi260B or even better, the Guide IR PC210. Both have a 256x192 IR sensor. And for both there are macro lenses available in the aftermarket. This is pretty much a must for PCB diagnostics. (both these camera's are stand alone). A comparison between these two camera's would be very interesting.

14:58 compressor tubes? 15:13 under floor heating? 15:21 and the manifold of that. 17:55 That's the offset between regular and IR image again. ... okay, you went over that later ...

Greetings. I found this Thermal Camera video after I purchased the Topdon TC001 for the Android phone. The $250 TC001 has 25 FPS which is a nice feature. However, the FLIR has great software. Now, I am not sure which one to go with? Also, the TC001 can run on the Raspberry Pi4 & Python as per another youtube video. 😎 So far the TC001 works well. Thank you.

Thanks - I have done a review on the Topdon: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKPUlnapr9eoopo The Topdon is the better camera with the far better IR resolution compared to the FLIR. Here is a link to the Topdon which sale price is around $230 which is crazy good: amzn.to/3DJikXA

I would think the whole point of having an adjustable plug is so you can fit it for every situation (case/no case) and still be able to adjust it to get rid of the gap between the phone and the device, making it more rigid and less likely to break the plug off of the device. He extended his all the way out and just left it there (because it fit). If they meant for it to be used that way the manufacturer would have just released it with a non-adjustable plug that was as long as a fully extended adjustable version, and it would have been much cheaper to make. Anyone else watching this should probably adjust it all the way out, put it on your phone and then adjust out the gap.

Thank you for pointing this out. I forgot to point it out and you are so right. This camera is hanging off your charge port, so you want to snug it up to help keep it from twisting.

Infrared thermomether can be used in ninety out of hundred cases when searching for bad contacts etc, cost of FLIR camera and IR thermometer are not comparable
@KissAnalog2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stanley! You are right, but a camera does give the whole picture;) I still use the other lower cost solutions as well. Sometimes it is better to pin point the device you are looking at;)

I have the Flir One Pro and I definitely would not recommend it 🙁… there seems to be some manufacturing or design issue relating to battery drain when not being used. If I don’t use my Flir for a few days I find it fully drained 😡. Check out KZbin to see others having the same issues. It seems Flir are not wanting to acknowledge the issue and appear to make it difficult to return. Others have had issues trying to get the thing to fully charge to 100%. My unit has the latest firmware but I still appear to be suffering from battery drain issues when the unit has been sitting in a draw for 2 or 3 days. It could be that there are a bad batch of units out there, possibly with faulty batteries. Some KZbinrs have posted videos on how to replace. Given the price of this thing, it’s a shame Flir won’t do more to acknowledge and recall defective units.

I had the same camera. Bought it about 3 years ago and I sold it because of the same problem. If you use it, the battery doesn’t last the 30minutes that Flir claims. And if you don’t used it the battery drains itself. I bought a Seek thermal Shot Pro. 320 x 240. That’s a bit expensive. It has helped me a lot to find problems when inspecting electronic boards. The battery last a long time. I barely recharge it. I have it with me more than 2 years and no problems. I don’t think a Chinese one will last the same specially the battery
