Hi Cyprien, Thank you for uploading another video. I love to watch your video's they keep my brains growing :-) at the moment I am trying to do a deep drawing simulation with Salome meca, with every video you make I get a step closer. And so I reach my goal with small steps. I have now also started reading your blogs, also a lot of new knowledge there.

Hi Cyprien, this is another very beautifully presented video, explaining all the important points/issues. Thank you very much. At time 26:04, you mentioned the problem of continuous rotating hour glass. A possible solution is to select a time for refresh (in the button in the middle of the screen). Currently it was set to "no refresh". Of course i do not know for sure about this Windows version. But for Linux version, that is the fix for the problem you mentioned. Thank you very much for all your tutorials that is helping many opensource enthusiasts. Edit: Now only I could see that the fix was already mentioned in another comment by @alberto. Thanks.

Hi Cyprien. Thanks for the sharing your knowledge with us. I think there is a small misteke when you rename the mesh or parts. Thats why you have different results than I got it. Regards and keep up the good work. :)

Hi Cyprien, Thank you very much for this tutorial, it really helps me to start with FEA. I've a question for you and I hope you can help me. I'm trying to build up a transient simulation for the same PCB you showed here. But when I select the transient load I cannot impose a physical "LIAISON_MAIL" between the elements to take the conduction problem into account. Is there a way to solve this? I followed also the transient tutorial but I did not find any useful for this problem. Thank you

I really appreciate the video. Thank you! I would like to apply this dependence relation between meshes in a PLAN (2D) thermic analysis. Will be the slave mesh a border edge or the whole face? May anyone give a little tip?

Hello Cyprien, thank you for this very detailed video about thermal simulation. I am wondering can you explain how to correctly to use ECHANGE_PAROI to specify a thermal contact resistance between two contact surfaces?
@Feaforall
@Feaforall 3 жыл бұрын
I will eventually. Echange_paroi is more difficult to use because you need exactly the same mesh on both faces in contacts: www.code-aster.org/forum2/viewtopic.php?id=23232

@@Feaforall I have figured out how to use the ECHANGE_PAROI for the thermal contact. But my current problem is how to plot the average temperature of a volume as a function of time. Usually I can use extra block filter in paraview to get the data. In code aster, the paravis doesn't allow to do it. Can you give me some hint how to do it? My current progress is to use POST_RELEVE_T. But still explore it.

Hi cyprien, about the strange behaviour of the bug of a simulation that take long time and it update when you click, actually is not a bug, but a settings. Close to the "RUN" button, there is "Auto Refresh" and as default is set as NO. Obviosly it is not convenient. You just need to set is as 5s and it will update every 5 seconds! I loose a lot of time in such stupid element, and now I learned it very well ;) Thank you for your helpful tutorials and best regards

Thanks for this tips! I have actually activated that now, but I wasn’t sure what it was...

@@Feaforall I am confident that it will solve the update problem (both on Windows and Linux). Just remember to set this parameter every time you open Salome-Meca, since it will not be saved as default at next startup. Thank you again and best regards.

Hi Cyprien, Tank you for your video. I'm new in this kind of simulation and i wanted to know how did you found the Convection coefficient ? I tried to calculate it with formula that i found on internet but i don't obtain the same order of magnitude that you. Can you help me ?
@Feaforall
@Feaforall 3 жыл бұрын
There are well known material databases for all frequently used materials, if you search on internet ( or in other professional software) you will find those. I just used those provided in the OnScale material library for this case. If you want to know more about thermal conductivity, Wikipedia has all the info: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_conductivity

Thanks for another great tutorial!! Does code aster support electromagnetic simulations (magnetostatics, eddy currents...)? I know that it can be done in calculix, however Salome meca has a nicer Gui, which is always a good thing to have
@Feaforall
@Feaforall 3 жыл бұрын
No, aster doesn’t do that
@dhombios
@dhombios 3 жыл бұрын
@@Feaforall That's a pity (edit: priorly I had used shame, which could be understood as a criticism to salome-meca). Even though calculix will add a GUI in the future (it's currently in development at their GitHub repository), it is easier to find information and tutorials about Salome Meca
@Feaforall
@Feaforall 3 жыл бұрын
It’s not a shame... every code is develop to do something specific well. Aster has been develop for nuclear and civil engineering first by EDF and it’s very strong for that. If you are interested into Electromagnetism, you can also look at Elmer, I have heard it’s good for this application.
@dhombios
@dhombios 3 жыл бұрын
@@Feaforall I tried Elmer in the past but it didn’t support electromagnetic studies from its GUI (maybe this has changed in newer versions) and the components needed to be characterized in postprocessing (or at least the way it should be done wasn’t documented)

Calm down, bro. Salome-Meca is a free tool (great on do what it was made for). Don't expect 'beautiful' GUI modules in free softwares. Or, you can pay for Ansys with its huge interface. Best regards!!
