That's a BIG thermal! Looks like a who can get the highest contest.

Yes it was a „who can get highest contest“ since after that thermal there was shadow everywhere, so all these gliders had to land afterwards…

A great difference with the new tech compared to the old Dacron sails of the early 70's. Stiffer fabrics and much wider wings gives a far greater glide ratio.

We have got the best wings ever - but most people decide to fly boring paragliders :-/ ;)

Europeans are really big on rigid wings. I think free flight in Europe in general has a larger audience with far less restrictions than in the US which makes it more fun. Nice smooth and buoyant thermal with a huge radius.

Rigids have such a great performance!

So cool to see that many rigids. I want to fly a VR one day!

Sounds like a good plan ;)

@@flyguy-hanggliding What a coincidence you replied today. I just had 4 flights with a classic Atos B (or N) in the brazilian nationals. The initial idea was to have a separate class comp but the other RW guys didnt show up, with only two of us they let me join the flex wing competition. Well, yesterday I was the fastest on task! Beating former national champions (and south american record holders) in task time. A 1999 wing beating shiny hot ships! Of course I did a good job as well. The two tasks prior I took off 10mins after third start, still made goal. The wing owner is quite slow in the mornings so I got late to launch every day. Today some flexy champions were quite sour at launch :D I offered to fly a topless and Moyes dealer offered me a RX 3.5 for tomorrow, let's see how it will go. The old atos with vtails are great wings, I loved it. No glide advantage at race speeds, but with my light weight of less than 70kg they float on thermals!
