The nice thing with those thermaltake tubes, is their ID is around 11.7mm, not 12mm, which makes them perfect for threading with g1/4 threads, where you can use a male to male, or quick disconnects, or really any fitting to connect two lengths of tubes, or using smaller fittings than the bulky compression style ones.

@oFriskyPanda oFriskyPanda I'm using an I5-8400 and RX5700xt. I don't remember the CPU temps under heavy load but during gaming it stays around 34°c. There was definitely a drop when compared to the air cooler but I don't recall how much. More important for me was the improvement for my 5700xt, it used to peak at 88-90°c, now it maxes out at 35-37°c. Getting that heat out of the case was a huge victory.
@barrylinkiewich96884 жыл бұрын
@oFriskyPanda it helps that the 8400 is a pretty low thermal load but I've been really pleased with the results, I should clarify that it's about a 14°c rise over ambient.

Personally I'm the kind of person that prefer to build loops that makes me able to reach everything I need easily. I think I'll never pass hard tubes above RAMs like that. I prefer to give more space to be able to remove them or install another pack if necessary, maybe just inserting pipes perpendicularly into processor cooler's fittings and makes 90° angles a bit far from them. But I have to say that for 'tutorial purpose' this is more than enough. Really good explanations! :D

@bittech14 жыл бұрын
I'd look to see if the manufacturer has a gpu block available for your card and choose from that. That said you can always go with another manufacturer's block. This kit would be good for adding a GPU and an additional radiator as the pump is strong, the EK Classic kit that we also reviewed might not be so ideal for that.

@bittech14 жыл бұрын
You’re actually in luck as EK sells aluminium HDC rigid tubing fittings now. To convert, you’d basically just have to replace all the soft tubing compression fittings with rigid ones (the angled adapters are fine). Just be sure to get the aluminium ones from the fluid gaming line, otherwise you put yourself at a significant risk of galvanic corrosion.
@bittech14 жыл бұрын
I would add though that personally I would ditch aluminium for a higher end copper/brass/nickel setup. Aluminium really limits your choices as only EK has a consistent lineup for it currently in most markets (China will always have options there). With a copper/brass/nickel loop you have more choice for things like fittings and blocks for less mainstream GPUs

What a great review. So many just build a system and dont do performance numbers. Is there much of a difference in performance between using premium parts from a company like EK or Thermaltake... vs stuff you might buy on AliExpress? the prices are so different. Is there a video or article anywhere comparing?
@bittech15 жыл бұрын
Something we hope to cover in the future! But I can tell you right now that actually you won’t see big performance changes for the most part. The majority of current blocks on the market perform within a few degrees of one another under the same scenarios. Your real cooling potential comes from the radiators and fans and some definitely do much better there than others. With the mainstream manufacturers you’re generally paying a premium for things like customer support and local availability. Bykski and Barrow etc can be tough to deal with thanks to operating out of China directly. Also just be aware that Bykski has a habit of sneaking aluminium into some parts like reservoir tops etc. so whilst the majority of their stuff is pretty decent, you need to check for things like that. Same deal with pumps like the ones they provide for distro plates, make sure they’re the more expensive Xylem/Laing ones and not cheaper alternatives (Barrow certainly sold both alongside one another).

@TheMaw3655 жыл бұрын
If you are only water cooling the CPU you have to make sure you still have good air flow in the case for the other components, most GPUs have decent air coolers on them, but the motherboard power components do need cooling so good airflow is recommended if you plan on over clocking. If you are using a custom loop just for the CPU you can always get a water block plate for the GPU later and complete the build, maybe even add in an extra radiator if your case allows it.
