Okay for real, this video saved my PC. Because I didn't use the right cable for my GTX 1060 and it was causing a massive issue and restarting my computer constantly for months on and off. I replaced it with the PCI-E cable and it fixed the entire issue. It might be a stupid oversight on my part, but still this helped a lot. Thanks!

Hey guys, i have the thermaltake toughpower grand rgb 850w for my asus x570-e motherboard and im confused about the cpu cable. Im required to connect either the 8pin or 8pin and 4pin connectors to the motherboard but the cable is split into 4 4pins and 1 of the 4 pins aligns with the pattern in the 8pin slot and another 4 pin aligns with the patterns in the 4 pin slot. The other 2 4 pins all have the same pattern with the rounded edge. This can fit into the remaining slot on the 8pin so i just wanted to know if its ok to plug that one in there even though the pattern on the 8pin has a square. Hope that makes sense. Please help!

Hey, I was wondering if I can place the fan of the PSU inwards/upwards. It would be a shame to have an RGB PSU but have it facing down
@ThermaltakeAustralia
@ThermaltakeAustralia 5 жыл бұрын
This is a big controversial question and one that hasn't got the most clearest of answers. It does come down to how the fans on your PSU are optimised. Our latest RGB family of PSU's have been designed to still keep cool while being face up and showing off the RGB lighting inside, however, not all RGB PSU's have been optimised for that type of setup. Personally... I've been using the same 1000w PSU for over 9 years in one of my builds FACE UP and it's still going strong!

Can I put my TT 850W RGB Gold psu upside down in my case? I have a magnetic screen in a new case, which would supply the light below the case (Antec DF800 Flux). sits about an inch off the desk. It has 5 intake fans, 3 on the front, and 2 above the psu chamber, and 4 exhaust fans, 1 at the rear and 3 on the top. Trying to get the most out of my color in the case.

Hey need help. I have almost the exact same components as in your video, a 750 Thermaltake power supply and a MSI Z270 M7 motherboard. The power supply has the same 4+4 cable for CPU power but the motherboard has a 8+2 header. According to the manual they are all just 12V pins. I have plugged everything in to the pins toward the front of the board. What's with the other pins, now empty at the back? It looks like I would need a different power supply and cable to have power to 8+4 pins rather than the 4+4. Thanks!

you don't need that extra +4 pins for your CPU, i have the MOBO with the same 8+4 pins for CPU and my PSU doesn't have +4 pins.. just plugged in the 8pins and its good to go. Found out that if you are doing extreme overclocking than you will need that extra +4 pins to plugged in.

I need help! I can't connect ssds with only one cable. I have to connect every ssd and hdd (4 in total) with a cable for each one and I have too many cables in the case. Is the a master socket on the psu supplying all disks?
@ThermaltakeAustralia
@ThermaltakeAustralia 7 жыл бұрын
Hey there Mr Checkers, is there a reason why you cannot connect them using 1 or 2 cables? i.e. is your chassis limiting you because of ssd mounting positions? If you're asking if there's a "hub" for optical cables we're afraid that isn't available - but we'd still like to try and help you out here so please feel free to let us know some more information.
@mrcheckers-ilcanaledidama

no I have no limiting positions the 2 ssd are near 2 hdd vertically. I forget to say that if I connect 4 or 3 disks with only one supply cable in series, only the main ssd is on (the one with operating system) or only 2 disks. That's the problem. with non modular psu I had no problems like that

Couldn't set up a connection with power supply. please make sure your Toughpower DPS is successfully connected to a computer via USB... I am getting this pop-up on start-up, however it seems everything is working fine from a power perspective? did I miss a cable for some reason?
@ThermaltakeAustralia
@ThermaltakeAustralia 4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, this would be in regards to the DPS software itself, your PSU would be functioning correctly if you're able to jump into Windows, however, what you might be missing is the micro USB cable the connects from the PSU to the motherboards USB 2.0 internal headers.

I have a GPU that uses 2 x 8pin PCI-E inlet and I am using the RGM 80 gold plus 850 watts power supply. Do I use a single plug in the split (6+2) PCI-E into the power supply and use both the (6+2) outlet into my gpu? Or should I plug in 2 cables and use each of the (6+2) wthout using the split connectors?

@ThermaltakeAustralia
@ThermaltakeAustralia 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Saquist, thanks for the question! The end with the 24 pin + 8 pin goes into the power supply, look for the two holes labeled "24 pin ATX", plug both of those in, and the other end with just the 24 pin goes into the motherboard. Let us know if you have any other questions :)

Tell your boss over at Thermaltake to make actual manuals. The one sheet thing that comes with the GF1 models is mostly useless. How the MB cable connects to the power supply is confusing. Like how would one known you are supposed to twist the short cable down below (not to the CPU/PCE-I)? I had to go to YT here and see an example to make sure I wasn't going to blow something up. Also I happen to know better, but since on the GF1 side it says CPU/PCIE it might lead some people to think you can use one of the two CPU cables as a PCIE cable, which would cause a disaster. There were way to lazy on the instruction manual for this power supply.

"And 99% of them can't even be plugged into my gigabyte motherboard" That's a good thing - The only two cables that you'd want to connect to your motherboard are the CPU 4+4 or 8pin and the 24 pin motherboard cable :) so it's good to know we are on the right track there. We'd love to know how we can help you though - have you got anything you'd like to ask about the PSU?

Wow great to hear back! The Core X71 was recommended to me as a case big enough to fit my power supply. I purchased an 1000W Seasonic Platinum model SS1000XP, but the holes on the case did not line up correctly for the screw points. It just was not a good fit, so I sold that and went for a Corsair but had the same problem. So I finally realized that you guys actually make your own, and it worked like a charm. ~ Ben K.
