Simple words and phrases that a child can understand, yet so technically complex that it can be taught in universities. The old videos are very well made.

This video is way better than the newer CGI produced crap. This video explains more in one minute than many of the new video craps do. Why can't people produce this kind of high-quality instructional videos anymore?

In the past, up into the 60's, schools taught logical thinking and real stuff. Schools today have evolved into teaching political dogma, race theory and transgenderism and so on. That's why this video is far better than others on this subject produced by well meaning individuals.

The cover picture is terrible in its omission. Where is the combination lever, that most important device permitting adjustment of steam admission by varying the valve stroke? This is a most important feature because of its function in improving the fuel efficiency of the steam locomotive.

(a) You didn't make it, why should you have any rights over it? (b) If it's public domain, why should you have any rights over it? If you don't have any rights over it, why do you have to plaster the whole screen with watermarks. Unwatcheable, and if you think it's a good advertisement for whatever outfit you are trying to profit from, think again. My deepest aplogies to the actually creative men who first made this film, to educate and inform - I'm afraid you bequeathed us a better educated, but infinitely greedier world.
@Trihame
@Trihame 6 жыл бұрын
Well said mr nickl. The men who created this also spent a lifetime of work to make our world better but for every great invention comes an even greater self entitled youth. More and more so we act like we don’t owe the world anything but yet it should be given to us freely practically by right. I wish I could say that this will cause us to collapse but unfortunately it won’t. The rich will continue to weaken us till there are no more liberals, just cattle

That's the exact reason why I gave this video a thumbs-down. If it didn't have a watermark and a 1990s counter all over a public domain film, I would have given it a thumbs-up.

Does anyone know how the lubrication of the piston-cylinder work? do they just use the moisture of the steam itself?
@rdallas81
@rdallas81 6 жыл бұрын
antobeat they inject oil into the cylinder and other parts are routinely greased
@thailander5572
@thailander5572 6 жыл бұрын
lubricant is at another compartment. it's soaked in the gear chamber compartment that attaches to piston rod. when engine runs, lubricant splashes everywhere include piston cylinder. that's how it lubricates the whole system.

Daumen hoch für das tolle Video. Danke. Vielleicht bist Du mal dort. Gruß aus München

So, in 1938 these fools were teaching people that "explosions" happened in a 4-stroke piston engine using gasoline fuel!!!! That is unforgivable for people claiming to teach Thermodynamics. There are NO EXPOOSIONS during normal 4-stroke piston engine operation. Just before top dead center on the compression stroke, the spark ignites the fuel/air mixture, causing it to burn and produce hot, expanding gases that drive the piston down to produce a power stroke. Explosions in the cylinder would destroy the piston and possibly other components. Those people ought to have known better. No blame is ascribed to the uploader of the video, given their up front disclaimer. However, they could have provided a rebuttal of that "explosion" crap. A sin of omission can be as bad as a sin of commission.
