Getting ready to do this to mine today. Great video, one observation though. Instead of struggling to tighten down the compressor with the belt on, give yourself more space to work and leave the belt off. Use the bolt under the alternator to loosen it instead and you can prybar tighten it that way. Either way works it just seemed like he was struggling with that belt in the way

Where I work we had several A/C unit's with leak's a lot of people don't know what happens when they just fill it every year. Since the oil comes out of them also. I had to replace the evaporator that where most of the problems were at least those were easy to find. I know all about having a leak after a repair. Thank you for showing this.

Great video and tutorial, as always. Quick question my friend, I’m getting 7v to the connector, what should I look for to get the 12v to the compressor, it is not working, I guess it’s because of the current, it has pressure, thanks, blessings.

whhhhaaaatttt???? You included a mistake???? Two words, AWE...SOME! i ALWAYS try to keep the mistakes in my videos because 1. I'm not perfect and it gives those who watch a little less anxiety about trying out a repair for the first time. 2. Hopefully those who see my mistakes might be quick to remember it when their "perfect repair" goes wrong. For example, that pressure switch is going to be the FIRST thing I check if my repair has a leak. BTW, the compressor oil fill? GENIUS! ANNNND you listed the exact amount of refrigerant to add, which was the purpose of my checking this vid out in the first place. I bought my first truck with an APU and I'm hunting for repair info BEFORE something goes wrong. 134 weight, PAG oil type and volume is exactly what i'm looking for tonight as the local dealers are all closed right now. "only fill through the HIGH SIDE".....VERY important! Part numbers? YES PLEASE! (I've already written them down so when I call and that part-time high school kid answers my call, I can tell him exactly which part I need. BEST damn APU video I've seen tonight!

There are a couple of problems with this DIY video. I just replaced my A/C compressor on my 2018 Thermo King Tripac Evolution. Nothing but major issues! Problem one. I believe your vacuum pump is different from mine. After removing the oil from the compressor, I installed it empty per your video. I had an 8oz bottle of Pag Oil. When I followed your instructions the oil sucked from the bottle and went into the vacuum. That oil became contaminated. Ultimately, I wasn't able to replace oil using this method. I had to remove compressor to fill. That was extra unnecessary work. Issue two. Towards the end of your video, you wrote the type of freon to use as 143a. After searching for this I realized it must have been a typo. Should have been 134a. Maybe an updated video on this topic?
@KoonTrucking Жыл бұрын
You had the pump hooked up wrong if it sucked the oil into it, second typo’s happen and I apologize for that but 134a is a common Freon used in all vehicle ac systems
@MadMax-pt3yk Жыл бұрын
@@KoonTrucking I would say you was correct with me having the pump hooked up wrong. The problem is, I had it exactly as described in the video. I watched that video several times and took notes. That method didn't work. I noticed a difference in the pumps. Mine pump is from Harbor Freight. Same with the service lines. Not sure why it didn't work?

@KoonTrucking5 жыл бұрын
None there isn’t any aftermarket apu parts. Thermo king was smart when they had them built as to make sure no aftermarket parts were there so you have to buy from them
@rdalemd765 жыл бұрын
Try a Valeo TM15 or TM16. Make sure you match the pulley grooves and coil voltage. Make sure you buy it from a aftermarket Thermo King Supplier. They have done the homework to match these compressors. In some cases, the aftermarket compressor is actually better quality.

@KoonTrucking5 жыл бұрын
Just depends on the issues you will run into. Case bolts break off and lines break. Many variables in quoting apu jobs due to the salt exposure and corrosion.
@KoonTrucking5 жыл бұрын
You can figure at least 3.5 hours since you need to pull at least 45 min vacuum on the system and then another 15-20 mins to charge it.

Need to put some gauges on it and see what our pressures are. Could be low or over charged or have a blockage. Also could be head pressure because electric fan on back of truck isn’t kicking on that cools the evaporator

I thought we are supposed to charge on low side only! Why you said on high side? Could you explain that?

@aaromckee4784 Жыл бұрын
Your system is currently in a vaccuum so when you charge on the low side you can damage your metering device your high side has more space and can handle the pressure but when you have the compressor operational you can add in through your low side then.
