My concern (Aerospace Quality Control engineer) with the "it does everything" approach is that the more functionality you put into a hardware device, the more you increase the potential of HW component failure. This is just the way it goes with non-chip based hardware in general. Remember the all-in-one stereo/radio/record player/TV consoles in the 60's? Well nobody else does either. That is because if one of these goes out the whole thing needs repair. In the 70's the idea of the component stereo systems (record player, radio receiver/tuner, amplifier, and speakers) became popular. And the TV became completely standalone with all components cabled together thru RCA jacks. This is a trend that reduced centralization of HW and reduced impacts of failure of individual components on the whole system. Most makers of Aerospace HW keep data bases of component MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) as it is tied to reliability and future contracts. This is specially true with high current/high heat discrete components as they endure more inherent environmental stress. For "throw away" consumer goods there is less incentive for keeping such data and even providing repair services/parts. So when buying an expensive "does everything" kitchen gadget, one must factor in cost vs risk of failure. The more something does, the more it is likely for some part of it to fail. So what is my point? This thing is EXPENSIVE!!! So you really have to weigh the delta functionality this brings to your kitchen vs cheaper alternatives and the cooking options you already have. That being said, if this device comes with say, a 5 or 10 year warranty, then that would go a long ways in covering the increased HW failure risk for such an expensive device. And are the components made of unsafe materials (plastic, aluminum, etc.)?

Agreed...in the US, if this thing fail outside of the warranty period, you'd have to ship it back to Europe to get it fixed...People often buy this on impulse in a party like environment (remember Tupperware party?) without thinking the overall expenses of owning the product. We did not know about this product till recently when a friend got it and praised it for saving cooking time, etc...Heck, if this is the only one kitchen gadget you need (as advertised, does it all), then my dinner won't be ready in a couple of hours as I need to wait something done by this before starting the next dish...And fortunately, we already have quite a few task specific gadgets so multitasking is the norm and dinner meal is ready within an hour, with a rice cooker, a wok for stir fry (can you do it with Thermomix?), bread making machine(if so desired to serve bread), etc...

This is a very reliable and high quality product, don’t understand why people do not like it. You cannot judge it until you have it, it is truly amazing.

Spoken like someone who has 1) the level of privilege to throw away more than a month's rent on an appliance 2) hasn't been burned by 'reliable and high quality' products 3) is probably paid by Vorwerk.

So if are you cooking a simple family meal for 5.... Say meat and 3 veg am I right in saying that it can't cook the meat and if you did mashed potatoes in it you couldn't cook anything else until you cleaned it but by the time you did that the mash potatoes would be cold....? Is it useful for anything else besides cskes/cookies, soups, pastas and slow cooked food..?

I'm definitely no expert but from the numerous videos I've watched about this product, it multitasks using various attachments. It easily prepares two to three courses simultaneously. As the cook learns more of it's capabilities, she or he can figure out more ways to work with it.

Why aren't these for sale on Amazon - why the strange sales model?
@sunnyjim98
@sunnyjim98 3 жыл бұрын
Because it is an MLM. The "sales rep" is selling units and getting a percentage of each sale and filtering profits upwards. She can also recruit other sales rep to work under her. The home demonstration model is designed to put pressure on the potential customer. Many people would be uncomfortable with having someone spend around 2 hours in their house cooking them food, only to have that person leave without a sale.

according to my local advisor, she says it is a direct marketing company rather than MLM but you believe what you believe - I am still very much on the fence whether to get this machine or not - I have far too many splinters!

First judging by the cost and size it is not worth at all. This is too big for most kitchens. It wont fit under your top cabinet. Second value X time X work = not worth. Too expensive to save small portion of your time and work. Any product that needs a lot of demonstration means it cannot be sold just by the packaging. Do not waste your money because you will use a couple of times and that's it. Also it is not cleaning save time. You have to do a lot of cleaning with this product. I have a new stove & oven that can save me time and money and it is the same price as this machine.

@무지개Minseo This guy has never used one and is just plainly hating on the device, he also copied and pasted the same comment on multiple thermomix videos just to spread negativity. I've seen my friend have one and it litterally can make anything, it can fit on a counter or anyway you need to this guy has no idea what he is talking about so next time get advice from somewhere who has experienced and used this device next time.

@The Force I have one and totally agree with @PauloHabsburg, it’s not worth it, the product is too much hassle and you still have to use your other kitchen appliances eg. Oven or frying pan, so what’s the point for that kind of money.

What a waste of money. Nothing wrong with good old fashion cooking on a stove in my opinion. I would never spend that much money on an appliance. It probably cost less than 100€ to make, in China. Rip off.

It saves time and time is money especially in a restaurant kitchen. Nothing wrong with technology if it solves day to day problems. I agree that is quite expensive for the average house. But they have to make a profit dont they?
