AD | Wouldn’t it be great if there was one machine that could perform all your kitchen tasks? Turns out there MIGHT be one, and today we’re putting it to the test! Ebbers and the food team have been giving the TOKIT Omni Cook a cheffy once-over for the past few weeks, and now he’s bringing in 2 normals, Jamie and Mike, to see if it’s home cook-proof too.
They’re whipping up a 4-course meal using just the Omni Cook! How good will it be? Watch to find out!
Find out more about the TOKIT Omni Cook here: bit.ly/3ETbNcq

As someone with a lot of limitations with cooking due to disability, this could be a very, very helpful thing. Knowing the tech is out there, and that hopefully there are eventually many brands doing this kind of thing which brings the price down, I could see myself being able to cook SO MANY recipes I can't make anymore.

It is plain stupid to enter a real password you should care about in a KZbin video, Teams/Zoom/Hangout call. Also, using kids or pet names or something from a dictionary or anything easily guessable is plain stupid. Please use a password manager that generates 20+ character passwords, and please use 2nd factor for your Google, Microsoft and other more important accounts. Better not use SMS a second factor if possible to prevent SIM swapping identity theft. Randomizing the username if possible is not a bad idea either.

This kind of machine is perfect for my mom with MS who loves to cook, but can’t slice, chop, knead.. stir for long periods… etc. Having something where she can still cook her own recipes and healthier foods without all of the physical work, is pretty incredible. I’m definitely going to look into a machine like this for her sometime soon. She already uses a bread machine and loves it.

"Just a prototype" My family have had our Thermomix for over 20 years. granted no internet connectivity, but the recipes came in book form. Probably made back the investment several times over just in the reduction of wasted food, because leftovers are so easily recycled into tasty soups. This is a very impressive tool and all, but I don't ever see myself using it. The biggest problem: I don't usually just use one tool in my kitchen. I'll use a foodprocessor here, have something on the boil there, make a quick dipsauce in a bowl, have something else frying, etcetera. If you only have the 21 in one thing, you can only cook one thing at the time. You'll still need all your pans and things on the side. If I have to have pans and other tools on the side regardless, why would I need this 21 in 1 thing? I could see how having a sous vide machine which doubles as a slow cooker could be useful. But I'll still need a seperate blender, I'll still need a seperate scale, etcetera. I'll just buy mysel a few good tools, instead of 1 which tries to do all of the things.

This will be great in some countries. When I was living in Japan I had 1 hob and that was it. Anything else had to be bought as a separate counter top appliance. This would be perfect for someone in that situation.
@kierancampire
@kierancampire 2 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty fair point that i didn't think of Like others have said, and like how the person who responded said, there are kitchens/situations where this is super handy. But i didn't really think about that, you can only really use one thing at a time, so you'd still have to use the rest of your kitchen to make a meal. And if you already have a slow cooker, blender and such, this product does become sorta redundant for most people. I mean, i could never afford it anyway, but yeah that is something i never thought of, soup like things is about the only meal you could make solely in it haha
@RickyT15
@RickyT15 2 жыл бұрын
@@kierancampire Yea its just one of those things. If you live in one of those apartments in a major city, New York, London, Tokyo etc where you basically have 1 small/tiny room for everything then 1 product that takes up minimal space is preferred. In the case of the Japan place the hob is beside the sink and there was 2 under cupboards of space that was all i had for kitchen space. That type of living is common in that country and is also why most things are table top and the majority of dishes only need 1 pot and a rice cooker.

I hated it in the begining because I preffer my food to be cooked by me not by a robot :P But my wife hates cooking with a passion like no other. I started using it and well... its incredible. The part they left out is if you need to lets say steam cook the lamb for 45 minutes you just leave. Go do your thing or cook something different and it will do the melody for you to come back to. I believe it also has a smartphone app dongle that allows you to REMOTELY START IT! :-D I havent checked that up so I might be pulling this one from my buttocks but pottentialy it allows you to coming back from work start a soup or something like that so the moment you come home you have a hot meal waiting for you.

@@bosozoku1000 I have it too. The spatula is a regular one, not like the Thermomix one that is designed to lift out the steam basket. I'm not saying that the Thermo is better in that way though. I'm fine with the little bucket style handle on the steam basket in the Tokit and a regular spatula. One thing I have learned after buying it though is that the Thermo tells you when it reaches temperature in kettle mode when boiling or heating water. No biggie as I have a separate kettle that does that.

Whenever I see these kinds of things, I'm always impressed by the innovation and I can understand how people could use them and even need them in their kitchen, but from my perspective it kind of takes some of the joy out of cooking? Like, I love moving around, having a few pots going on a stove, stirring and tasting and checking temperature as I go, heck even the cleaning as I go so I can finish up and the kitchen isn't a bomb zone. That might just be me and my social/cultural perception and my personal love for how involved cooking can be, but I could never see myself using something like this machine.

Straight out of the box we had a delicious mushroom soup for supper and it quietly beavered around in the background whilst I prepared the salad main course. My only criticism would be that it’s a little slow on picking up our otherwise excellent wireless - router just one room away and I can use my iPad happily in the back garden, but if the problem persists I can add a repeater to the kitchen area. The new Thermomix model TM6 will cost you 1370 € and you can buy this directly by the manufacturer or a Thermomix representative. It's over priced smart appliance buzzword crap meant to separate stupid rich people who don't actually cook but are willing to spend tons of money on gadgets that'll make cooking at home "so much easier" from their money. You could outfit an entire kitchen with decent to good quality tabletop devices this thing is claiming to replace for half of its asking price and then you'd be able to actually cook a full meal in less time than this thing to boot.

I can imagine this would be handy in a apartment or dorm without stove/oven and room for multiple appliances. But otherwise i feel like it doesn't do much for you if you already have a stove oven and blender. Maybe if you have some type off handicap/dissability this could be of use.

Some thoughts: 1. It's a multi-tasker which also means it's a multi-failer. If your blender is your oven is immersion circulator is your knife is your X and your blender breaks then so does your oven, knife, and X. 2. It's a tough sell at its price because it would fit nicely into a dorm room or in a home for a single person with limited space, but the price reflects high-end kitchen kit. A student is more likely to avail themselves to a Big Mac than they are to preparing a gazpacho. Maybe it'll see some use in Manhattan or wherever people get 30sqm apartments in London. 3. It looks nice, I think once it hits mass-market and the competition figures out how to get the price down it'll do a lot for a lot of people.

We tested it for work, and I found it to be way more work just to do simple things like making homemade mayo or chopping veggies by hand. Like frustratingly so, so definitely more for a home cook, especially with the recipe thing

The device voice gave me nostalgic flash backs to Short Circuit. The drink service robot "Coming through. Wine coolers, Perrier, Long Island iced tea... Please take a drink." (For those who haven't the faintest idea what I'm talking about, the film is currently on Amazon Prime, and this scene is about 09:10.)
